Chapter Fourteen: Our Idleness Is Justified

Unable to figure it out or not, the mission still had to be carried out.
Just as Fu Qian was about to ask Schwarzenegger a little more, the villa door suddenly opened.
A butler-like man led a group of men and women straight toward them.
“Thank you for your hard work, Captain Gu.”
Seeing Fu Qian and Schwarzenegger, the butler bowed courteously.
So Schwarzenegger’s surname was Gu.
“You’re too kind. It’s our duty.”
Although the exchange was merely business courtesy, it was obvious that Captain Gu rather enjoyed the respect.
The butler smiled and exchanged a few more polite words with him.
Just then, a car came speeding toward them from the distance. The butler’s smile vanished, and he hurried forward to meet it.
So they really hadn’t come out merely to exchange pleasantries with the bodyguards.
Judging by how neatly the butler and his party had lined up, whoever was arriving in that car clearly had an extraordinary status.
The speeding car crossed the plaza without slowing down and only slammed to a halt when it reached the butler and the others.
The doors opened, and several people climbed out in a flurry.
At the front was a young man in his twenties, whose looks were passable enough.
His hair was combed perfectly into place, and he wore a white suit with white leather shoes. His entire appearance reeked of pomade and powder.
“I’ve brought people to lend a hand. Where’s Little Sister Wen Li?”
Facing the approaching butler, the young man grinned broadly and pointed at the people who had gotten out with him.
There were three others: two men and a woman. Apart from one middle-aged man, the rest were all very young.
“Greetings, Young Master Ye. The eldest miss is resting inside.”
The butler answered with a smile, his expression a hundred times more deferential than before.
They were all Transcendents?
Fu Qian narrowed his eyes. These people gave him much the same feeling as the Night Watchers he had encountered before—a sense of power far beyond anything an ordinary person could possess.
It seemed that ordinary bodyguards like him had been hired purely as cannon fodder. These were the true defensive forces.
That was actually good news for him. Perhaps he would complete the mission without having to do anything at all.
But somehow, he doubted it would be that simple.
Naturally, given his previous experiences, Fu Qian remained pessimistic.
Sss!
Schwarzenegger Gu drew in a sharp breath.
“Four Transcendents!”
He spoke rapidly in an even lower voice than before.
“They actually managed to find reinforcements like this. Looks like the rumors are true—the Wen family is facing serious trouble this time. No wonder they spent so much money hiring people.
“Don’t forget what I told you before we came. Keep your wits about you.
“We’re being paid to do a job, that’s true. But if our opponents are Transcendents, our first priority is to raise the alarm, not charge in like idiots.”

“They won’t be pinning their hopes on us, either. At best, we’re cannon fodder. Besides these few, there may even be Night Watchers here.”
Right, understood.
Fu Qian nodded.
Captain Gu’s strength was only average, but he was clearly an old hand. His judgment was still sharp.
His thinking was clear as well, and, rather unusually, he did not want his subordinates to throw their lives away for nothing.
Still, Fu Qian really wanted to remind him of one thing: Transcendents generally had excellent hearing.
Sure enough, Young Master Ye, who had been about to follow the butler inside to find someone, suddenly stopped.
He slowly turned his head and looked over with an amused smile.
All right. His plan to slack off had been exposed on the spot.
Fu Qian sighed sympathetically. The pressure was now on Captain Gu.
Captain Gu noticed the anomaly immediately. Recalling what he had just said, he drew a tense breath.
Unexpectedly, after sweeping his gaze across the group, Young Master Ye fixed his eyes on Fu Qian.
“Are these the bodyguards you hired? How did you end up with a pretty boy like this?”
What was wrong with this guy?
Fu Qian frowned, never expecting the attention to land on him.
Could it be that pretty boys simply couldn’t stand seeing someone even prettier than themselves?
After all, although this young man was dressed up to the nines, he truly could not compare with Fu Qian.
Especially after transforming into the Ravager, his former weakness of a slender build had been completely remedied. He was now practically walking, breathing pheromones.
Otherwise, how could he have dared to pursue a career as a kept man?
“Given the circumstances, to ensure the eldest miss’s safety, we have no choice but to make use of every available force. This is an elite member of Captain Gu’s team.”
For some reason, Young Master Ye had suddenly singled out this bodyguard, but the butler instinctively tried to smooth things over.
An elite member?
Young Master Ye gave a cold laugh.
“How elite? Can you let me see for myself?”
This guy really wasn’t going to stop. Were some people simply born with a talent for being obnoxious?
As a man focused solely on completing the mission, Fu Qian had no interest in arguing with someone like this. Yet the other party kept pressing him.
“Would that be all right, Captain Gu?”
Although the butler found the request absurd, he clearly did not want to oppose Young Master Ye too strongly. He turned to look at Schwarzenegger Gu.
“Well, he’s still carrying out his duties…”
Captain Gu’s expression changed slightly, and he glanced at Fu Qian with concern.
Having spent many years navigating the world, he could naturally tell that Young Master Ye was deliberately picking a fight, though he had no idea why the young master was targeting Fu Qian.
His men had undergone strict training, but at the end of the day they were still ordinary people. Clashing with a Transcendent was unquestionably unwise.
“Demonstrating your abilities to reassure the employer counts as part of your job, doesn’t it?”

Young Master Ye clearly had no intention of letting Fu Qian off easily.
From the very first moment he saw Fu Qian, he had inexplicably disliked him.
More importantly, from then until now, this insignificant bodyguard had not even looked him in the eye. That unprovoked arrogance sent his temper climbing higher and higher.
“Oh? How would you like me to demonstrate?”
Seeing Captain Gu rendered speechless for the moment, Fu Qian spoke up directly.
“Show us whatever special skills you have.”
Young Master Ye finally got Fu Qian to respond, and he smiled in satisfaction.
“There are quite a few, and not all of them are convenient to demonstrate here.”
Since this confrontation seemed unavoidable, Fu Qian did not hold back either.
He had not yet fought a Transcendent after transforming into the Ravager. This was a perfect opportunity to test his current combat strength.
At worst, he could spend one point of sanity and start over. No big deal.
The butler’s expression changed the moment he heard this.
Captain Gu even reached out and tugged at Fu Qian.
“Haha!”
Young Master Ye was stunned for a moment before grasping the meaning behind Fu Qian’s words. He burst out laughing.
“This bodyguard is interesting. I never expected you to hire someone this formidable!”
“How about this? Since you don’t know what to demonstrate, why not spar with the young lady here?”
Young Master Ye reached out and dragged over the girl who had arrived with him.
“You can’t say I’m bullying you now, can you?”
The young lady.
Fu Qian looked over the girl who had been pushed forward.
She was indeed young. Her style, however, was another matter entirely.
Her hair was streaked red and blue, her eye shadow was as heavy as a panda’s, and her revealing outfit left flesh peeking out everywhere. She was unmistakably a female clown.
Apparently, these days, no one dared call themselves a strange expert without dressing in bizarre clothing.
When she noticed Fu Qian looking her up and down, the girl gave him a coquettish smile and blew him a kiss.
“Handsome, go easy on me, okay?”
“Don’t worry. It’s one of my specialties.”
“That’s good, that’s good!”
The delinquent girl laughed so hard her entire body trembled, patting her chest exaggeratedly with one hand.
In the next instant, her hand curled and extended, and two glittering blades appeared between her fingers.
