Chapter 1: The Werewolf Master System
“Where is this…”
Wang Changsheng awoke from a state of chaos, his gaze sweeping around as his brows furrowed deeply.
He found himself seated at a round table, surrounded not only by several people but also by several… unknown creatures.
He described them as such because each one resembled a shadow, their faces concealed by heavy, eerie masks, reminiscent of demons.
Yet, whether human or shadow, in front of each sat a numbered placard.
From one to twelve, they formed a circle.
“Hm? I have a mask too.” Wang Changsheng suddenly noticed a mask on his own face. Strangely, he could see through it to observe the surroundings beside him.
Before he could fully process this, a series of prompts appeared.
[Congratulations, you have been ‘created dead’.]
[Werewolf Master System activated.]
[Your destiny attribute has been enhanced; you now have a greater chance of obtaining a chosen identity in the game!]
[You will now be shielded from the game’s technological detection system, allowing you to cheat freely!]
[You have acquired the skill — ‘Hole in the Helmet’.]
[‘Hole in the Helmet’]: In every game, you can clearly see the movement paths of all players during the night!
[You have acquired the skill — ‘Invisible Me, Invisible Me’.]
[‘Invisible Me, Invisible Me’]: Before the game begins, silently recite “Invisible me, invisible me” twice in your mind, and your presence will be greatly diminished. Other players will find it difficult to discern your identity or alignment from your appearance.
“I’ve been ‘created dead’?”
Wang Changsheng was momentarily stunned.
“Werewolf system?” He immediately realized. “I’ve time-traveled? Vocal! I just won nine million yuan!”
Before arriving here, he had just won the ultimate championship crown in a world-class Werewolf tournament, claiming a prize of nine million yuan.
On his way to verify the prize, a truck suddenly barreled out; everything went black, and the next moment he found himself here.
“Ugh!”
Suddenly, Wang Changsheng felt as if a needle had pierced his head.
Fragments of memories flooded into his mind.
After a brief silence, he understood the situation.
He had indeed traveled through time and space, arriving in a world even more passionate about Werewolf than his original one—its fervor rivaling, if not surpassing, the former MOBA games.
“I never imagined that with a blink, I’d become a member of a Werewolf team,” Wang Changsheng’s lips curled slightly upward. This was even harder to win than an AK championship.
“Though I’m only a substitute player, it doesn’t matter—I have a system!”
With the Werewolf Master System and his prior passion and knowledge of the game, he believed he could rise from a substitute to a top-tier player!
Wang Changsheng loved playing Werewolf, which was why he had won nine million yuan by following the tournaments.
However, at his level, while decent in ordinary games, he would pale against the world’s top players.
But now he had the Werewolf Master System.
Especially the two skills he now possessed.
One was Hole in the Helmet.
The other was Invisible Me.
These two skills were virtually invincible in the Werewolf game!
Hole in the Helmet allowed him to see every player's movements during the night phase.
This was practically cheating!
When the judge calls out “Night falls, close your eyes,”
everyone else places a heavy, suffocating mask over their faces, only allowed to open their eyes if it’s their identity’s turn.
But he could unreservedly observe everything!
In other words, on the very first night, he could clearly discern everyone’s identities.
Werewolf is a game where players use speech and logic to identify the four werewolves hidden among twelve cards.
Players can also analyze off-game clues and subtle tells, but errors are common.
Wang Changsheng was different.
He effectively had a god’s eye view!
Except that he couldn’t issue commands at night.
He could almost act as a judge!
If he were a villager, he could directly locate the four werewolves.
If he were a werewolf, he could blatantly pinpoint the four gods on the field!
With this skill, Wang Changsheng only needed to guide the game subtly with words according to the known results, easily securing victory.
Of course, Werewolf isn’t a solo game; situations vary.
But with the system, Wang Changsheng was confident in winning every match!
“Hoo—”
He exhaled deeply, calming his excitement.
At the same moment, a sonorous, magnetic voice echoed in his ears.
“Daybreak.”
“Player number 7 revealed their card last night.”
“Game over; the werewolves have won.”
As the voice fell, Wang Changsheng felt as if he were released from this chamber, returning to reality.
The technology here was advanced.
In their Werewolf games, every player lay in a gaming pod, consciousness connected via a system that transported twelve players into a sealed chamber.
Everything was monitored.
Any attempt at cheating would be immediately detected and exposed.
But Wang Changsheng was different.
His system shielded him from the gaming pod’s detection.
In other words, even if he cheated, the system couldn’t catch him.
However, the matches were live-streamed.
So, with “Hole in the Helmet” and “Invisible Me,”
he wouldn’t risk unnecessary cheating.
These skills alone were already the greatest hacks.
What other cheating could surpass them?
Wang Changsheng stood up from the pod and immediately noticed the differing expressions around him.
Some appeared joyful; others wore heavy expressions.
Reading the memories flooding into his mind, Wang Changsheng understood.
Their team had lost points in this match.
But since this was only the substitute team’s preliminary round, it wasn’t too damaging.
The main focus was on the main team’s matches.
Yet Wang Changsheng’s team—Mind Exchange—was currently at the bottom of the rankings.
If they lost another match, falling further behind,
they would be out of the national finals.
Naturally, other teams were pleased.
Wang Changsheng’s teammates wore grim expressions.

Because this novel centers on rounds of logical games, the focus will be on gameplay.
There will be some female characters, though they will mostly be peripheral, limited to casual interactions with the protagonist, without a true heroine.
Unless the plot changes significantly, or many readers request it, or I craft a well-reasoned, comfortable, non-jarring, and unannoying female character,
it’s unlikely I’ll write a heroine. So readers needn’t worry about the protagonist getting sidetracked by romance or falling into clichéd love scenes.
Also, the author tends not to write romance; better to omit it than produce awkward, forced love scenes.
The female characters depicted are generally independent and strong.
I will subjectively describe their beauty, but since they are inherently beautiful, this is an objective fact within the story’s setting—just as I describe male characters as handsome or ordinary.
These women may admire or even revere the protagonist, which is natural—after all, men admire him too.
But I probably won’t make them fall in love with Wang Changsheng.
Rather than romance, female characters will focus on their Werewolf research and career development.
Again, the protagonist's relationships with female characters will likely remain casual, no more than sharing a few meals.
Furthermore, to avoid any controversy over the protagonist’s casual encounters—such as being irresponsible or a scoundrel—my setting is that both men and women pursue their careers independently, not falling into mindless romance from casual encounters.
For instance, deliberately throwing matches is unlikely to appear.
Based on this, I’m unlikely to write such scenarios; after all, casual encounters can be messy and problematic unless written logically and subtly.
Ultimately, this is a logic-driven story.
Please enjoy the story with peace of mind.
