Chapter 34: The Witch Nominated a Wolf Pair from the Four Suspects

【The Sheriff election begins now. Players who wish to run, please raise your hands.】
After daybreak, the moderator read the procedure.
A significant number of people raised their hands this time.
【There are 10 players running for Sheriff: Players 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, and 12.】
【Based on the order, player 11 will speak first. Player 12, please prepare.】
Player 11 was just a plain villager.
Speaking first, he had no information to work with and could only share his intuition about the others.
"I am not the Seer, and there’s not much to say since I’m speaking first. I just caught a vibe from player 12 next to me when the cards were dealt. He seems to have a role, and since he's up next, let's hear what he has to say."
"Pass."
Player 11 looked a bit dim-witted.
He wasn't very tall, either.
He glanced at player 12 beside him before choosing to yield the floor.
【Player 12, please begin your statement.】
Player 12 was Cheng Xiao from the Wolf Pack team, the same person who tried to recruit Wang Changsheng before the game started.
He scanned the room briefly before speaking: "Player 5 is my 'gold' teammate (confirmed good). Players 9 and 10 will be checked next."
Cheng Xiao’s expression remained calm; he didn't seem particularly agitated.
"Before discussing my investigation and the Sheriff badge flow, I don’t think player 11 looks like a werewolf. You were right to suspect I have a role—I am indeed the Seer. If you were a wolf, you wouldn't have played so passively as the first speaker. I'm leaning towards trusting you for now, but I'll wait to hear more after the Sheriff vote."
Cheng Xiao looked at player 11 briefly before turning his gaze back to the crowd.
"Secondly, I originally wanted to check either player 10 or 9 last night because I felt they had roles. I wasn't sure if they were wolves or power roles, but at least one wolf is likely among them. I’ve always been accurate with my reads."
Cheng Xiao smiled and continued, "As for why I didn't check them: player 5 smiled at me before we put on our helmets. I didn't understand what he meant, and I was worried he might be a wolf planning to kill me, so I checked him instead."
"To my surprise, he came up as a 'gold' teammate. That’s fine, though. As a member of the Wolf Battle in the Wild team, player 5’s skill level isn't bad. Having him as a confirmed good player will help me identify the wolf den."
"That’s my thought process on the investigation. My Sheriff badge flow is clear: I believe there’s a wolf among 9 and 10. As for whether it’s one or two, I’ll need to hear their statements. Since I am the early-position Seer, I will check 9 and 10 in order after the Sheriff vote."
Having said this, his gaze fell on Wang Changsheng.
"Other than that, player 7, I couldn't get a read on your role. But if you are the Witch, please don't blind-poison me on the first day, because I really am the Seer."

"As for the rest, those in the later positions shouldn't question why I'm checking two people below the Sheriff line. Besides my reasoning, it’s because I’m an early-position Seer. If this leads to a tie-breaker, I can adjust my Sheriff badge flow after hearing everyone speak."
"Pass."
Cheng Xiao glanced at player 1 beside him and yielded the floor.
【Player 1, please begin your statement.】
Player 1 was also a plain villager.
He had dyed, ash-blond hair, wore gold-rimmed glasses, and looked fair-skinned and delicate.
He didn't look very old, though his eyes were a bit small.
He looked at player 12 and his first words were: "Hey, uncle, just speak your piece, why are you staring at me? I wasn't even going to talk about why you’re checking two people."
The bespectacled boy pouted, then suddenly changed his tone: "But since you addressed me like that, I have to say something. I think your Sheriff badge flow... well, it’s not exactly great; it’s a bit of a mess."
"Of course, since you’re the second speaker, I can give you some leeway."
The boy chuckled: "But since player 12 gave player 5 a 'gold' check, and my friend Shan Cang isn't so easily fooled, if 12 is a wolf, I think player 5 is likely a wolf too, because it’s hard for 12 to trick 5."
As he spoke, the boy quickly added to Cheng Xiao: "Of course, I’m not saying you’re a bad player, uncle, just that as an elite from Wolf Battle in the Wild, Shan Cang is hard to deceive."
"Therefore, they are either both good players or both werewolves. That’s the information I can provide from this position. Whether 12 is the Seer remains to be seen after the others reveal their roles. Besides that..."
The boy glanced at player 2 beside him.
"I feel like Miss 2 might have something to say. Her expression after taking off her helmet doesn't look too good. Let’s hear your statement. Are you going to claim a role on the spot? Who knows? I pass."
The boy finished his statement and leaned back, looking quite relaxed.
【Player 2, please begin your statement.】
Player 2 was a member of the lowest-ranked team among the top 24.
She had been attacked by a wolf on the first night.
She had used her poison on someone, but she didn't know their role, and she was currently feeling terrified.
How could her complexion look good?
However, after some thought, she decided not to reveal her role this round.
Instead, she decided to put pressure on the later players so they would reveal their roles, which might be better than revealing herself as the Witch who had just been attacked.
She mustered her composure.

"I think player 11 is likely a good player among the early speakers. Let’s listen to player 5’s statement. If Shan Cang is good, then player 12 might actually be the Seer."
"I can't get a read on player 1. As for the four cards of 6, 7, 8, and 9, I suspect there are wolves among you—at least two. When it’s your turn, just reveal your roles. Of course, player 9 is below the Sheriff line, so I can't hear their statement, so I’ll focus on the other three."
"I think 6 and 8 look the most like wolves. 11 is a good player in my book, and 12 sounds okay, but it’s crucial to hear player 5. I’m not sure about 1, it’s a wildcard."
Miss 2 bit her lower lip and sat up straight while speaking, then slumped back down and said, "Pass."
After hearing the young lady’s statement, Wang Changsheng raised an eyebrow calmly.
I have to admit, this Witch girl has some skills.
As a cheater, he saw that player 2 had poisoned the Hunter, player 8, but he also saw her hesitate yesterday about whether to poison him.
Fortunately, besides his "Hole in the Helmet" skill, he also had "You Can't See Me."
On the first day, neither the Seer nor the wolves could read his face, and his presence was greatly diminished.
This ensured that the skills of external players wouldn't easily target him.
It was a good thing, too.
Otherwise, if he had been poisoned as a major wolf, the news would have exploded again.
Besides, player 2 managed to point out a wolf den among four people. He didn't know if she had deduced it or if she was just trying to squeeze roles out of the later players because she had poisoned 8.
Regardless, being able to point out a wolf den on the first day earned his respect for Miss 2's ability.
It’s just a pity...
Oh no...
You poisoned the wrong person!
Wang Changsheng could already imagine how much resentment player 8 would have when it was his turn to speak.
