Chapter 22: They Sell This Stuff, Too?
A fierce wind pressure made the hems of the crowd’s clothes flutter and rustle below.
The cabin door opened.
Standing at the entrance were seven or eight armed men holding HK416 rifles, clad head to toe in special operations gear. While not quite on par with Delta Force in terms of extravagance, their equipment was hardly inferior to that of the Marine Corps.
Leading them was a man wearing a floral shirt, his arms covered in tattoos, sporting short braids and sunglasses.
It must be said, those involved in arms dealing in Mexico are almost all drug users; anyone capable of this business is hardly short of money. Even their subordinate’s weapons and gear were all standard-issue special equipment.
As the two men approached, they embraced each other fiercely.
“Hahaha, Andres, long time no see. Why’d you suddenly reach out to me?”
Andres smiled cheerfully. With his appearance, he’d fit right in on a beach, but no one would guess he was a ruthless arms dealer.
He looked at the fully armed Yang Jie, his expression darkening, exuding a violent aura. The seven men behind him slightly raised their gun barrels.
“Yang, don’t you trust me?”
Yang Jie showed no sign of panic. Instead, he said calmly, “The public security here is so bad, even God would have a headache.”
Andres was momentarily stunned but soon burst into hearty laughter, pulling out a stack of green American dollars.
“Here, this is God!”
“Yang, I heard from the community that you’ve been buying a lot of arms lately. I just happened to have a shipment of premium goods that should suit you perfectly! You were the first person I thought of!”
“Heh.”
Yang Jie smiled coldly inside. Being the first to come to mind probably meant Andres wanted him to take it all at once.
After all, large quantities of arms can’t be sold in one go; just the shipping costs to various places are considerable, not to mention the risk of buyers defaulting on payments.
Yang Jie nodded. “I need to personally inspect the goods you mentioned, but I’m more interested in the surprise you spoke of.”
If not for the significant height difference between them, the two would have linked arms and looked more like old friends than rivals ready to fight.
The group moved into the warehouse, where stacks of green wooden crates filled the entire space.
Using crowbars, they pried open each crate and immediately began inspecting the contents. Though Andres’s character was questionable, the quality of the goods was undeniable.
The RPGs were decent, especially the rocket-propelled grenades, which gleamed with a polished shine. There were also large quantities of bright yellow-orange bullets. Just the amount of ammunition alone made Yang Jie feel this trip was worthwhile.
As for the rest, there was even more, particularly the hand grenades, anti-tank mines, and various infantry light weapons that Yang Jie urgently needed.
Among them, what pleased Yang Jie most were two 30mm autocannons. These could be used flexibly and were considered invaluable. As the saying goes, “When the anti-aircraft gun is leveled, it’s a military tribunal”—Yang Jie had firsthand experience of their devastating power.
Ordinary tanks were barely tougher than tofu in front of such autocannons.
During the inspection, Yang Jie gestured for Officer Rabbit to join and observe the reaction.
The result was very positive; from her eyes, Yang Jie saw nothing but admiration. As a Marine veteran, she had an instinctive affinity for weapons.
After a full hour of checking, the three finally felt assured. There was no seven-day unconditional return policy for this kind of merchandise.
After regrouping, everyone nodded in agreement. Yang Jie turned to Andres and asked, “Where’s this surprise you mentioned?”
“Follow me.”
The group then marched to another warehouse, where a large quantity of goods was covered with green tarps.
Andres gave a look to two of his men, who immediately lifted a two-and-a-half-meter-long rifle onto a workbench.
When Yang Jie’s gaze landed on the weapon, an irresistible heat and awe flickered in his eyes.
The gun’s body emitted a cold metallic sheen, appearing even more imposing and majestic under the dim light, like a fierce beast silently lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to deliver a lethal strike.
Yang Jie stepped forward, his fingertips gently tracing every inch of the barrel, feeling the smoothness and strength brought by meticulous craftsmanship.
The Anzio rifle’s characteristic long range and high precision were vividly embodied in this weapon; every detail reflected the artisan’s dedication and pursuit of ultimate performance.
Taking a deep breath, Yang Jie seemed to inhale the unique scent of gun oil mingled with metal—an aroma very familiar to him.
He gently pulled the trigger, though no bullet fired, the crisp click resounded pleasantly.
Seeing Chris’s eyes shining with excitement, Yang Jie smiled.
“Like it?”
Chris’s gaze on the Anzio anti-material sniper rifle was almost entranced.
“I like it, but I’ve never used one before. I heard you have to shoot it prone, and the recoil’s insane.”
Yang Jie nodded, “You can try it when you have time.”
“Okay!”
“How many of these are there?”
Yang Jie’s eyes burned intensely as he looked at Andres. This sniper rifle was terrifyingly powerful but had limited practical use, mostly purchased by the military and fanatic enthusiasts.
Even if the Big Beauty wanted one, it wouldn’t be easy. Yang Jie, a billionaire, had once owned one but lost it during a mission in the Middle East. He had never thought of buying another after returning to the Big Beauty.
Mainly because it lacked a suitable use case—who goes hunting wild boar with a 20mm Anzio? The boars hadn’t exactly broken any divine laws.
“Brand new, five pieces, with 500 rounds of ammunition! Uses 20x102mm rounds, which are fairly standard.”
“I’ll take them. Don’t tell me that’s the surprise.”
Yang Jie raised an eyebrow, his gaze sharp as a blade, making Andres a little uneasy. Honestly, Yang Jie’s reputation was well known; everyone in the circle knew his battle record.
Though he had seven fully armed men, no one could be sure if he’d survive a real fight with Yang Jie, whose credibility was miles ahead of his own.
Andres clapped his hands, and four men immediately pulled off a tarp.
A massive beast of a machine suddenly appeared before Yang Jie, as if drawn by an invisible force, freezing his gaze instantly.
Before him stood a 2S4 Tulip mortar—a towering steel giant radiating a cold and majestic aura.
The barrel was long and thick, like a beast coiled and ready to strike, its muzzle pointing skyward as if ready to unleash fury and power at any moment.
The three stared wide-eyed, mouths half-open, unable to find words fitting enough to express their complex feelings.
It was a mixture of shock, admiration, and exhilaration.
“This… this is the 2S4 Tulip mortar?” Yang Jie murmured incredulously.
His fingers unconsciously stroked his chin as his thoughts raced, trying to reconcile the massive machine before him with the descriptions he’d read in books and online.
But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t fully absorb the sudden visual and emotional impact.
Li Siyao exclaimed in astonishment.
“Da Mao even sells this? Crazy, right?”
Even the usually unflappable Officer Rabbit trembled with excitement. This was a true demolition beast—firing that in the city would shake the entire world.
