Amid the gasps of the crowd, the dagger drove straight into the wall, leaving only the hilt visible on the outside.

"Hiss~~~!"

The surrounding tourists all drew in sharp breaths, and a few foreigners kept exclaiming about Chinese kung fu.

"Holy shit, is this a movie shoot?!"

"He kicked a guy into a U-shape, absolutely badass!"

"The power in that kick is even fiercer than my Xianggang steel-shredding leg!"

While the surrounding tourists and passersby exclaimed and took pictures, their bodies honestly backed away step by step.

At that moment, the police rushed to the scene. As the two made eye contact, Yang Jie looked stunned. "Wang Nianwei? Why is it you?"

Wang Nianwei ran up with sweat beading on her temples, panting heavily. Had the robber not been so familiar with the alleys, she would have caught up to him long ago.

"Have... have you lost your mind? If you had stabbed downward just now, do you have any idea what the consequences would have been?"

Yang Jie waved his hand dismissively. "Muscle memory!"

"Let's go!"

With that, Wang Nianwei grabbed Yang Jie's arm and pulled him outward, not forgetting to instruct her colleagues to call an ambulance. The robber was currently bent double at the waist; who would dare touch him?

"Aren't you supposed to be at work?"

Wang Nianwei retorted irritably, "To the police station, to give a statement!"

The corner of Yang Jie's twitching mouth tightened. Back in the Land of Freedom, whenever he went to the police station, it was either to donate money or buy them pizza and coffee.

The group boarded the police cruiser and headed back to the station.

In the car, Wang Nianwei's expression was unsightly. She had no idea what kind of fate awaited Yang Jie; the guy had been beaten into that state! He probably wouldn't be able to stand up for the rest of his life.

However, after reporting to her superiors, they simply dismissed it as justifiable homicide—ah, self-defense—and closed the case without pursuing criminal charges. Wang Nianwei couldn't help but exclaim that Yang Jie had sheer dumb luck.

Mainly, armed robbery in broad daylight was already a serious offense, but the crucial point was that the robber was armed.

Yang Jie didn't leave; instead, he took a nap in the lobby while waiting for someone to get off work.

When Wang Nianwei changed out of her uniform, shouldering a small handbag, and walked out, Yang Jie's eyes instantly lit up.

On her upper body, Wang Nianwei wore a white crew-neck short-sleeve shirt, while her lower body featured a pink miniskirt paired with white strappy sandals, giving off a vibe that was both fiery and refreshing.

That pair of fair, slender legs almost blinded Yang Jie, making it hard for him to keep his eyes open.

Perhaps in a rather good mood, Wang Nianwei looped her arm through Yang Jie's and walked outside.

This caused a bunch of single officers in the police station to feel as though their family's prized cabbage had been thoroughly ruined by a pig.

On the surface, Yang Jie appeared carefree, but inwardly he was observing the surrounding crowd.

He never believed that domestic women would like him for no reason—that simply didn't exist. Domestic aesthetic preferences leaned toward tall, slender, sharp-faced pretty boys.

Yang Rongrong liked him because under special circumstances, she needed a sense of security, and coupled with the fact that he was deeply ingrained in her heart both mentally and physically, falling for him was a natural course of events.

Yet, what kind of person was Wang Nianwei?

Anyone familiar with his public background would absolutely never like him; to someone who professed a love for justice, they might even loathe him.

Her asking him out today definitely meant nothing good!

However, after observing for a long while, Yang Jie spotted no suspicious stalkers, nor did his Spider-Sense detect anyone harboring malice toward him.

This outcome left Yang Jie somewhat baffled.

The two went to a rather decent restaurant for dinner. Wang Nianwei ordered quite a bit, though she ate very little, simply watching Yang Jie eat as she nibbled.

"I suddenly realized that just watching you eat makes even me hungry!"

Yang Jie was notoriously slow at eating, yet every single mouthful contained the portion of four or five regular people.

"I remember once, when I was cornered to the brink by a group of terrorists, I survived two days on just a single can of cola, otherwise I'd have been dead for sure!"

Yang Jie kept recounting interesting anecdotes from his past abroad, while Wang Nianwei rested her chin in her hands, wearing the absolute expression of an attentive listener.

While Yang Jie spoke cheerfully, his heart had sunk to rock bottom. What on earth was Wang Nianwei plotting?

Eating, shopping, playing claw machines—at the claw machine area, Yang Jie almost lost his temper. He pumped over a hundred yuan into it, only to fail to catch a single plush toy.

Just as the two were preparing to go to the movies, Yang Jie suddenly spoke up.

"I saw online that there are private movie theaters. How about we try one today? I've never seen one before!"

Wang Nianwei's eyes darted around, her cheeks flushing slightly. Who goes to a place like that unless they are a couple?

"Don't they have private movie theaters in the Land of Freedom?"

"My foot they do! Even regular karaoke joints are pitifully rare there!"

Ten minutes later, the two arrived at a private theater, paid the fee, and ordered milk tea and beverages.

Must admit, Yang Jie was completely conquered by the endless varieties of milk tea in his home country.

When he went abroad ten years ago, there weren't this many varieties. The Land of Freedom did have milk tea, but the options were fewer than in Dragon Country a decade prior, and the taste was sickeningly sweet—you couldn't survive it without three shots of insulin.

A newly released movie slowly began playing on the screen.

The two had chosen a room with a dual massage recliner. As they pressed the buttons, the chair emitted a labored mechanical groan.

After inspecting it left and right, Wang Nianwei looked at Yang Jie in astonishment. "How much do you weigh?"

"A man's weight is a secret!"

"Secret your head! Spill it!"

"Forgot, haven't weighed myself in a long time. Probably around 380 pounds!"

Wang Nianwei instantly covered her mouth, her eyes widening in sheer disbelief.

"H-How can you be that heavy? That's impossible. I used to watch bodybuilding competitions, and Hafþór weighed 400 pounds, but he looked way fatter than you!"

Yang Jie nodded. Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson—the actor who played the Mountain in Game of Thrones.

Standing 2.1 meters tall, his weight hovered around 400 pounds, making him at least two circles bulkier than Yang Jie. The reason Yang Jie weighed 380 pounds yet showed zero signs of fatness was because his tempered steel bones had fundamentally altered his bone density.

Finally, the dual massage chair managed to lift up, though Yang Jie's side sagged slightly under the weight.

Yang Jie lay back comfortably, watching the movie. After a short while, Wang Nianwei suddenly spoke up.

"During our last date, a USB drive mysteriously appeared in my pocket! That must have been you, right?"

Yang Jie glanced at her sideways and remained silent.

The atmosphere grew heavy once again.

Five minutes later, Wang Nianwei spoke again. "Is the apocalypse real or fake? How did you know about it?"

Yang Jie smiled faintly and pointed at the movie screen.

"When watching a movie, don't talk."

Wang Nianwei froze. Her eyes instantly turned red, and she sat straight up, staring directly at Yang Jie.

"You know what's on that USB drive better than anyone. Over these past few days, all your prophecies have come true."

"The apocalypse—what kind of apocalypse is it?! Tell me already, so I can prepare myself!"

Yang Jie rested his hands behind his head, his eyes never leaving the screen as he replied in a flat tone.

"I don't understand what you're talking about."

"What will it take for you to tell me?"

"I'll have to frisk you first!"

Wang Nianwei's face flushed beet red in an instant. "Hey, be serious."

"Unless I frisk you, I don't know a thing!"

Wang Nianwei was trapped in a corner. She bit her lip hard, blushing down to her neck. To put it bluntly, she had only just graduated from college; where on earth had she ever encountered such an outrageous demand?
