Chapter 66: Inspecting the Duplex Suite
"This is the water room. We have not only installed the country's most advanced commercial large-scale water maker, but also a professional high-density water purification system. It can extract water from the air and recycle wastewater. We just need to replenish the chemical solutions in time. I have prepared dozens of boxes of these solutions, which will last for decades without any problem."
Li Siyao popped up from behind and pointed at the machine. "Are the filter elements prepared in sufficient quantity?"
The project manager looked up at Li Siyao. Up until now, he still wasn't quite used to it. Previously, he was always looking down at others, but now everyone around him was so towering.
"Please rest assured, Miss Li. We indeed haven't prepared many filter elements, but these are made of nanomaterials and can be reused. You just need to take them out and wash them to use them again!"
The group then proceeded to the third enclosed small room.
"This is the data processing center. According to Miss Zhao's instructions, it is almost completely filled with servers. The cooling system is connected to the roof, so there will never be any overheating issues!"
Zhao Baitong immediately pushed past the others, her eyes wide open, and began meticulously inspecting the server room. After a long while, she looked at the manager and asked, "Is it linked?"
The manager was slightly stunned, as if recalling something, and said in a low voice, "It is connected to the base station above, but doing this might cause a lot of trouble if investigated."
Yang Jie twisted his fingers at the manager and gave him an expression that everyone understood. The manager instantly caught on. Fine, you have money, you are amazing.
To gain control over the roof, Yang Jie had directly thrown millions at the property management company. At first, the property management hesitated and asked what Yang Jie intended to do.
Yang Jie replied that he simply enjoyed seeking high altitudes to quietly look down and act cool—wasn't that allowed?
Upon learning of this eccentric hobby, the property management company gladly accepted. As long as he didn't build any illegal structures up there, everything else didn't matter.
With authorization secured, Yang Jie quietly sealed off the roof. Now, accessing the roof was only possible through his own apartment!
Yang Jie inspected the remaining rooms as well, and they all essentially served their designated purposes.
After inspecting the entire apartment, the group climbed the stairs to the rooftop. To their surprise, the entire rooftop floor had been painted green and gleamed with a glossy finish.
Seeing Yang Jie's gaze, the manager smiled and said, "Since this is the top duplex unit directly beneath the roof, we applied multiple layers of waterproofing and installed numerous side-drainage outlets so that water seepage is entirely impossible."
"Not bad!"
Looking up, the entire balcony was filled with wind turbines of various sizes—both horizontal-axis and vertical-axis wind turbines, meaning bladed and cylindrical ones.
Standing on the rooftop of a 33-story building, even though there was not a breath of wind down on the street, up here the wind felt terrifyingly strong.
"How many kilowatt-hours of electricity can this many wind turbines generate in a day?" Yang Jie cared quite a bit about power supply.
Without electricity, how would they be any different from primitive humans?
The manager smiled. "Those small generators are generally two to five kilowatts, and the medium-sized ones are around ten kilowatts. Across the entire platform, there are roughly a hundred units. After calculation, it totals 383 kilowatts, but factoring in actual losses and uneven wind speeds, maintaining around 350 kilowatts would be pretty good."
"This much?"
Yang Jie was slightly surprised. Generating 350 kilowatt-hours per hour meant they could pretty much lie flat and relax—who needed anything else?
The manager chuckled, "Actually, it's not that much. If the wind speed drops, the power generation will drop as well!"
"These are only small and medium generators. Large wind turbines can generate thirty to fifty thousand kilowatt-hours per hour."
Yang Jie was extremely satisfied and even specifically requested an instruction manual so that he could perform DIY repairs if anything broke.
After seeing the personnel from the Golden Shield Company off, the deliveries arrived.
Watching the boxes being carried into the house, Li Siyao frowned slightly. "What are these?"
After Yang Jie unpacked the boxes, they revealed sleek, sci-fi-inspired treadmills that took up a minimal footprint. He lined up all six treadmills in front of the massive floor-to-ceiling windows.
Unpacking the final five wooden crates revealed a complete set of fitness equipment, transforming the second-floor living room into a gymnasium.
Seeing the treadmills, Yang Rongrong wore an expression of utter despair. "Surely we don't have to train our physical fitness again, do we?"
Yang Jie nodded. "The physical fitness of the four of you is too poor. As things stand, I can protect you while I'm around, but what would you do if I kicked the bucket?"
"Touch wood! Spit, spit, spit!"
Yang Rongrong pointed at the nearby cabinet and hurriedly said, "Quickly knock on the wood, stop talking nonsense!"
Yang Jie smiled, patted the cabinet, and felt a surge of genuine joy inside. At the very least, Yang Rongrong was beginning to fall in love with him.
That's right, Yang Rongrong had always merely liked him; talking about love was still far off. However, over this recent period, their relationship had heated up rapidly, to the point where they wished they could cling to each other every single day.
Coupled with daily intimacy, the one who used to be merely his crush had long since become the one residing in his heart!
"Other things can be trained later when there's time, but physical fitness must be trained, and it must be trained to an exceptional level!"
Yang Jie looked at Donna and smiled. "How does it feel here?"
Donna shrugged. "Not bad. It took a bit of getting used to at first. You know what my previous job was like—my colleagues didn't really like to talk much."
Haha, your colleagues were literally all corpses; if they actually started talking, it would scare you to death!
"It feels pretty good now, at least your teammates are all very friendly!"
Yang Jie turned his gaze to Emma.
Emma looked slightly better than before and managed a reluctant smile at Yang Jie. "All the teammates are women. You're a lucky man!"
Yang Jie spread his hands. "It's just that the ones meeting all my requirements happened to be women!"
Actually, Yang Jie had considered several male candidates for teammates—professionally competent, previously teamed up with, and trustworthy.
However, the thought of their body odor made Yang Jie's eyes water just thinking about it. Most importantly, Zhao Baitong and Li Siyao didn't like the smell of those men either, so he had dismissed the idea.
Without missing a beat, Emma placed her hands on Yang Jie's arm. The height difference between them was so stark that she looked like a little white rabbit resting next to a black bear.
Yang Jie instinctively patted her head. He wondered if Donna's husband had saved the entire galaxy, given how pretty both his wife and daughter were.
Since they were newly joined members, even though their backgrounds were verified now, it was still necessary to communicate more to see what kind of people they truly were. Any conflicts could easily be mediated, and if someone genuinely didn't fit in, they could always be taken outside and eliminated.
Mainly, the newly joined members possessed truly top-tier technical skills, whereas Jin Zhiyan and Emma were essentially bundled bonuses.
After getting everything set up and organized, Yang Jie checked the time and saw it was already 12 o'clock. He immediately told the women, "Everyone, head down to the downstairs apartment to fetch the supplies!"
The women responded in unison.
This building featured a relatively rare dual-core hybrid layout, meaning Unit 1 and Unit 2 were joined together yet remained independent, though a connecting walkway linked the two residential towers.
Because of this, only two elevators were needed!
Led by Li Siyao, the group crossed the walkway, entered through the emergency stairwell to the downstairs unit, and began moving the supplies one by one.
Yang Jie effortlessly hoisted a commercial refrigerator onto his shoulders and transported it back home through the stairwell.
