With a splash, Lu Xingzhou plunged into the water.
He could immediately feel an immense force rushing toward him. In the turbulent river, it was as though countless hemp ropes had bound his hands and feet, making even the slightest movement extraordinarily difficult.
The darkness only intensified the fear and helplessness people felt, making the situation all the more dangerous.
Yet none of these difficulties posed much of a problem for Lu Xingzhou.
His world-class muscle control allowed him to command his body perfectly even in the raging current, distributing his strength with precision. He moved through the water like a fish, swimming upstream against the current.
His Low-Light Vision also kept the darkness from provoking fear and unease.
With the two abilities working together, the river was no different from a swimming pool to Lu Xingzhou. Like a fish in its natural element, he swam toward the unconscious clown.
<It’s All Shichen’s Fault (Lv. 34): Holy crap! The current is moving this fast, and the streamer can still swim that quickly? Is he a fish or something? Maybe he should switch careers and compete in swimming. I feel like he has far more talent for swimming than for freestyle fighting!>
<Cured Pork Trotter (Lv. 16): Is there anyone knowledgeable who can tell me what level the streamer is at? Everyone keeps saying the current is fast, but how fast are we talking?>
<Half Price for the Second Stele (Lv. 27): Just look at how quickly the unconscious clown is drifting and do the math. If you insist on a comparison, it’s like riding a rental bike in a force-twelve gale. If you can keep the bike from falling over, you’ve already surpassed ninety-nine percent of humanity.>
The people just as tense as the viewers in the livestream were the lifeguards.
They were paddling inflatable kayaks rapidly through the river, which gave them an even more direct sense of the current’s strength. They could not even keep their boats moving in a straight line.
“He’s swimming so fast!”
The lifeguard struggling to control his boat watched an orange-red glow moving swiftly upstream through the darkness and knew it had to be Lu Xingzhou.
“Exactly. If I weren’t paddling against this powerful current, I’d almost suspect that kid wasn’t swimming upstream at all, but downstream.”
“I hope he can catch the person who fell into the river. If he fails, the chances of rescuing him alive will be extremely slim.”
“At the current speed, there will only be one chance.”
Lu Xingzhou swam ahead of the unconscious clown and watched the dark figure drifting unsteadily toward him from the riverbank. He prepared to intercept it.
Just as the costumed clown was about to collide with him, Lu Xingzhou suddenly twisted aside and cleanly avoided the unconscious man’s charge.
In an instant, question marks flooded the comments.
Before they had even finished scrolling past, Lu Xingzhou spun around, grabbed the unconscious clown as he began drifting farther away, and immediately wrapped his arms around him from behind.

The livestream erupted at once.
<Why are you spamming question marks? If you don’t understand, stop doubting the streamer.>
<With the current this strong, if the streamer had collided with the drifting clown, at least one of them would have died.>
<Don’t you know that people who rescue someone underwater always approach from behind? If you try to save a drowning person from the front, there’s a very high chance they’ll drag you beneath the surface and cause you to drown as well.>
Lu Xingzhou had no time to pay attention to the scrolling comments. Dragging an unconscious man through the raging river consumed an enormous amount of energy every second.
“Over here!”
Lu Xingzhou raised the glow stick in his hand to signal his position.
The lifeguards paddled the inflatable raft toward him and, with everyone lending a hand, hauled the two men aboard.
After the rescue succeeded, Lu Xingzhou’s livestream once again gained a wave of new followers, while countless gifts poured in from every direction.
The livestream froze under the sheer flood of rewards.
Cheers continued to ring out from the riverbank all the way to the bridge.
To remain calm in a moment of crisis, think clearly, and make detailed arrangements required extraordinary judgment and a precise grasp of how events would unfold.
However, the moment Lu Xingzhou climbed onto the kayak, the atmosphere in the livestream changed dramatically once again.
His soaked T-shirt clung completely to his sculpted muscles, concealing them just enough to make the sight all the more tantalizing.
<What kind of wet-shirt temptation is this?>
<Little brother, take it off. Big sister has plenty of money.>
<Streamer, I’m from Tianfu and currently working in Shanhe City. Want to exchange contact information and discuss fitness sometime? I’m not after your body, really. I’m a man, too!>
In the blink of an eye, the livestream became paradise for lechers.
One of the moderators assigned to monitor the room glanced at his team leader.
“Captain, should we ban the livestream? He’s crossing the line.”
The team leader looked at the row of gold badges filling the screen.
“If you dare ban it, you’ll be the captain. I’ll resign on the spot!”
The kayak had barely reached the shore when the doctors who had been waiting for some time took the unconscious clown away. A middle-aged man then approached Lu Xingzhou and extended his hand.
“Young man, you risked your life in that turbulent river to save someone. You’re truly a hero. Our Zongyong Temple Scenic Area still doesn’t have an official ambassador. I wonder if you’d be interested.”

“Huh?”
Lu Xingzhou wondered whether he had misheard. What had the man just said? An official ambassador?
The middle-aged man hurriedly explained, “Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Zhang Dongyi, and I’m in charge of the Zongyong Temple Scenic Area.”
The idea of hiring Lu Xingzhou as the scenic area’s ambassador had come to Zhang Dongyi on a sudden impulse.
Since Lu Xingzhou had risked his life to save someone, the scenic area would certainly have to give him a reward. But netizens would regard that as only natural, and the attention would remain focused on Lu Xingzhou.
Making Lu Xingzhou the ambassador of the Zongyong Temple Scenic Area was different. Whenever netizens discussed Lu Xingzhou, they would inevitably mention the scenic area as well. They would say that Zongyong Temple Scenic Area had chosen the hero who saved a life as its ambassador. Wouldn’t that instantly spread the scenic area’s reputation far and wide?
It was a splendid opportunity that would accomplish several things at once.
Lu Xingzhou’s eyes lit up. He could actually become an ambassador?
After thinking it over briefly, he agreed.
“Ah… hello, Director Zhang. Sure, no problem.”
Director Zhang?
What sort of title was that?
Zhang Dongyi hurriedly clarified, “I’m not a district director. I’m only in charge of the Zongyong Temple Scenic Area.”
Lu Xingzhou looked utterly baffled.
“If you’re in charge of a scenic area, shouldn’t that make you the district director?”
His words left Zhang Dongyi completely dumbfounded.
If one insisted that Lu Xingzhou was wrong, his interpretation did seem reasonable enough.
But who on earth called the person in charge of a scenic area a district director?
Zhang Dongyi cleared his throat.
“Young man, you certainly have a sense of humor. Just call me Director Zhang.”
“Besides, I can see that you’re an excellent swimmer. Zongyong Temple is about to launch a new project: cave diving. Would you be interested in becoming one of the first explorers?”
