Chapter 45: Uniform
Lu Li pressed her down into the driver's seat and said gently, "Sit tight and don't move."
Xiao Di looked around anxiously, but meeting Lu Li's gentle gaze, her heart settled. She nodded at her and said, "Okay."
After receiving her response, Lu Li pressed the ascent button, not forgetting to remind her, "It might be a little dizzying. Just stand up once we're up."
While she was still completely bewildered, the world around her spun wildly. When she came to her senses, the scenery before her had completely changed.
Xiao Di felt a momentary panic, but quickly remembered Boss Lu's words and walked over to the side.
Within a few breaths, Boss Lu appeared before her, sitting comfortably in a chair.
Lu Li stood up and pulled her toward the bed at the back of the vehicle. Reaching the bedside, Xiao Di looked down—her clothes were far too dirty...
Yet Boss Lu's bed looked so fragrant and soft; if she stained it, she would die of guilt.
Xiao Di shook her head. "I'll just sleep on the sofa." She pointed at the sofa, which looked equally soft and large.
Lu Li had an inkling of what she was thinking. Considering herself a dirty child, she probably felt a bit inferior.
However, as an absolute extrovert brimming with self-confidence, Lu Li would never allow her own "store clerk" to harbor any feelings of inferiority!
That's right, she had already included Xiao Di in the ranks of her store clerks, so the employee benefits definitely had to keep up, right?
She immediately searched for "work uniforms" in the mall's apparel category. Oh my god, it was simply dazzling; every style imaginable was there.
Ultraman styles, Shaun the Sheep, Pleasant Goat, Peppa Pig, shirts, dresses.
Normal ones, abnormal ones, they had them all.
Her eyes grew dizzy from looking, and she finally chose a slightly more normal one: the Pleasant Goat style.
The overall outfit was fluffy, feeling just like real sheep's wool to the touch, with a small white pom-pom located right at the back.
The top of the head featured two small sheep horns, making it extremely cute. Wearing it really made one look like a soft little sheep.
She bought several sets—one Pleasant Goat, one Pretty Goat, and a family portrait set of Goat Village.
She would let them choose later, and Lu Li even deliberately checked the material, noting that it would automatically adjust to the wearer's size.
Most importantly, it came with a one-click cleaning function! How practical!
Not only did she buy the Goat Village family set, but Lu Li also bought very normal work uniforms consisting of short-sleeved shirts paired with shorts or trousers for casual wear.
Lu Li truly admired herself for being so thorough and thoughtful; she was indeed cut out to be a good boss.
As she thought about it, she couldn't help laughing out loud. Xiao Di looked at her in terror, reached out, and poked her. "Boss Lu?"
Lu Li snapped back to her senses. Looking at Xiao Di's curious eyes, she happily pulled out the Pleasant Goat outfit.
"How is it? Our work uniform! Does it look good?" Lu Li asked with full anticipation.
Xiao Di looked it up and down. Horns on the head, a tail in the back? It looked rather bizarre, but she didn't dare say so.
"Hey? Speak your mind boldly. Big Sis isn't a boss who lacks human warmth," Lu Li encouraged.
As a result, the next second she saw Xiao Di decisively shake her head and reject it. "It's too cute, Big Sis, but I don't like it."
Lu Li suffered a heavy blow. Pleasant Goat was considered cute? She hadn't even brought out the cutest Lazy Goat yet!
"You must wear it!" Lu Li shoved it into her hands. "You're wearing it this afternoon!"
Xiao Di accepted it with a bitter expression, not forgetting to ask, "Then is Dadong going to wear one too?"
Lu Li affirmed, "Of course he is!"
Near four o'clock, Lu Li's biological clock prompted her to open her eyes.
Xiao Di was already sitting on the sofa, fully changed into the Pleasant Goat outfit and waiting like a soldier ready to march off to the battlefield.
Amused by her appearance, Lu Li pinched her rather fleshless cheek, and the two of them went downstairs one after the other.
Dadong was curiously wandering around the inside of the RV, yet he obediently touched nothing, using only his eyes to look.
As soon as Lu Li caught sight of Dadong, she called out to him, "Dadong, come change into your work uniform."
Hearing this, he trotted over excitedly. He hadn't expected that coming to help Big Brother Shen would also come with a new outfit!
However, when Lu Li pulled out the Pretty Goat costume, Dadong's smile froze on his face. "H-h-how is anyone supposed to wear this?"
Even though both the RV and the convenience store were equipped with air conditioning, making it completely impossible to feel hot while wearing it, it was still utterly humiliating, okay?
Dadong was just about to refuse when he spotted Xiao Di walking out in that strange outfit, her movements appearing slightly awkward.
He wailed, "Xiao Di, you too! Traitor! You absolute traitor!"
Xiao Di glared at him and stubbornly retorted, "If you've got the guts, don't wear it!" She still had plenty of sharp retorts for acquaintances.
"You're wearing it, so why shouldn't I?!"
"Then what are you yelling for? Dadong! If you say another word, I'll tell Big Brother Shen that you're bullying me!"
"You—you! Shameless!"
The quiet RV suddenly became lively due to the bickering between the two youngsters. Lu Li watched the show from the side, almost wishing she had some melon seeds to munch on.
Shen Bing had also come upstairs at some point, standing with his arms crossed and leaning against the vehicle body to watch the two bicker.
When customers arrived, Lu Li went to greet them. Xiao Di possessed top-notch situational awareness, immediately following right behind and turning back to make a funny face at Dadong ("Bleh bleh bleh~").
Dadong was so furious he desperately wanted to rush over and argue with her further, but he was dragged away by the scruff of his neck by Shen Bing.
Over on this side, Lu Li taught Xiao Di how to operate the Lotto machine, explaining that she only needed to manually input the numbers and hand the slip to the customer.
Just as a customer arrived, Lu Li demonstrated it to Xiao Di a few times. She was very clever and caught on instantly.
Satisfied, Lu Li watched for a bit and, confirming that her operations were flawless, left to busy herself with other things.
Sorting the scratch-offs, keeping an eye on customers to prevent any petty tricks, and unsealing new scratch-offs in a timely manner.
They were trivial and complicated little tasks, but Lu Li had already grown quite proficient at handling them and had found her own rhythm.
Yet... suddenly transitioning from a single small window to four windows facing all directions meant she was stretched a bit thin.
She repeatedly opened her light-comp system interface to check her accumulated points balance and see how much progress was left on the level-five progress bar.
Advancing to level four had cost one hundred thousand points, and advancing to level five required one million. Did the system think she was a money-printing machine?!
At this thought, a flash of inspiration struck Lu Li. She was already at level four; why hadn't she received any level-up rewards?
She immediately went to interrogate the system, which stammered, "Just some minor rewards..."
"Hand them over!" Lu Li demanded aggressively. No wonder! It turned out they had all been swallowed up by this scumbag system!
In an instant, Lu Li glanced over and noticed the level-up progress bar had increased by a tenth. Good grief, the damn thing really swallowed a massive amount!
"What other rewards are there? Hand them over right now!" Lu Li continued to press. Actually, deep down she felt that one hundred thousand points was already quite a lot, and she guessed there probably weren't any left.
Who would have thought that the quantity of items in her inventory had increased to double digits, when previously it was just a single digit!
She immediately opened it to take a look, gasped in shock, and leaped to her feet, launching straight into a fierce tirade: "You rotten system, you actually swallowed so many of my rewards, didn't you?!"
A circle of customers stood nearby, and upon hearing this, their gazes instantly shifted toward her, piercing straight through her.
Lu Li waved dismissively. "Carry on, everyone, I have some personal matters to attend to!"
With that, she continued cursing fiercely in her mind: "Well, you really something else, System. No wonder you barely said a word when I leveled up, only reminding me that I'd advanced—you were feeling guilty, weren't you?!"
