The sharp crack of a gunshot rang out, and a three-round burst directly struck the fastest-running bloodhound.

"Bang, bang, bang!"

When the three high-explosive incendiary rounds bit into the exposed muscle of the bloodhound, the air seemed to freeze for a fraction of a second.

Then the bullets exploded and disintegrated instantly, tearing that vibrant red muscle tissue into a mist of blood that filled the air, while the incendiary agent raged along the muscle fibers.

The bloodhound staggered as if intoxicated, its front legs slamming heavily into the ground as it crashed violently against a car door.

"Bang—crash!"

Its charred, claw-like phalanges drove into the softened asphalt road, and the unextinguished flames flowed along the cracks.

The sound of the spent cartridge cases clinking to the ground made Su Huan’s blood boil instantly.

His eyes shone with a mesmerizing brilliance.

Number Three, driving beside him, was equally stunned by the firepower. "Holy shit! Is this thing seriously this savage?! Three shots and it's down?"

Su Huan’s mouth split into a wide grin. If he had possessed such a weapon in his past life, how could those damned beasts have ever driven him to such a desperate end?

No matter how formidable a Tier-1 zombie might be, it was still made of carbon-based flesh and blood. Even a Tier-2 zombie that had evolved a skeletal armor would still scatter in panic when facing heavy human firepower!

Armor-piercing rounds never cared about carbon-based monsters!

Su Huan shoved a Tier-1 pan-energy crystal straight into his mouth, channeling the endless stream of energy directly into the fire truck beneath his feet as he roared, "Step on it! Faster!"

Number Three slammed his foot hard down on the accelerator. Whether it was his imagination or not, he felt the vehicle surge with even greater power.

Like an enraged bull, it charged forward with a deafening roar.

Coupes and SUVs alike were treated like mere toys, shattered and scattered in all directions as the truck plowed through them.

Su Huan locked his sights onto the next bloodhound, unleashing another crisp three-round burst.

Only this time, his placement was slightly off. The bloodhound didn't drop dead immediately; instead, it slammed into the fire truck with a miserable howl, its mangled wound resembling a burst tomato, smearing an even brighter red across the vehicle's paint.

Before it could even struggle, the massive wheels rolled right over it. The chassis shook violently, accompanied by the spine-chilling sound of bones snapping like packing bubbles being crushed.

"Number Four, quick, hit that big one up ahead!"

Number Three leaned forward, his hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white, shouting toward the butcher charging straight at them.

"Got it!"

Su Huan switched his firing mode to full auto, half of his body leaning out the window. Training his muzzle on the butcher wielding a road sign, he used one hand to steady the recoil and the other to squeeze the trigger.

In an instant, the crisp clatter of gunfire merged into a continuous roar.

The muzzle flash formed a tongue of fire, licking greedily at the butcher's bloated belly.

The high-explosive rounds tore open its stomach, instantly creating a vibrant yellow-orange mist of blood. Over thirty high-explosive incendiary bullets ignited the butcher's massive abdomen.

And forcefully halted its advance.

An agonized wail laden with fury echoed from within the flames. Su Huan ducked back inside to dodge a bloodhound lunging from the side, hurriedly reaching toward the back to reload.

Although he had already killed two butchers since the apocalypse began, those victories had relied entirely on the terrifying weight and kinetic energy of an armored train.

That didn't mean these creatures were actually weak.

Among all Tier-1 zombies, the butcher might have had the slowest reflexes, but its defense was absolute top-tier!

Even a heavy truck couldn't kill this beast in a collision!

"Number Four, it's not dead! It's not dead, that thing's still alive!"

"Stop yelling, I fucking know!"

Sweat beaded on Su Huan's forehead. If that butcher managed to land a single blow on them, things were going to get very ugly.

While frantically absorbing the energy inside the pan-energy crystals, his hands worked in tandem to jam bullets back into the magazine.

"Number Four, it's coming! It's gonna smash us! Smash us! Oh, fuck!"

"I fucking know!!"

Having loaded thirty-something rounds and realizing time had run out, Su Huan shoved the magazine home, spun around abruptly, and shrank his pupils. "Oh, shit!"

"Boom—"

A road sign drove straight through the windshield of the fire truck.

Fortunately, the fire truck's windshield was laminated double-layer glass. Even with a hole that massive punched right through it, the glass didn't shatter all over the cabin, leaving only a massive spiderweb fracture directly in front of their eyes.

"Rat-tat-tat!"

At that critical moment, a dense burst of gunfire erupted from behind.

Immediately afterward, the butcher burst into fierce flames once more, stumbling backward.

Su Huan thrust his barrel straight through the hole in the glass, emptying another magazine into the butcher as he bellowed, "Number Two is already pulling his weight, step on the damn gas!"

With his face red and his neck straining, Number Three floored the accelerator to the metal. "Bullshit! You think I don't want to step on the gas?!"

The tires shrieked against the sticky asphalt as the truck roared forward.

Watching the butcher recede in the rear-view mirror, Number Three slammed his hand down on the steering wheel in frustration. "Hell yeah!"

Both men let out a simultaneous, mindless roar, then instinctively tugged at their collars to let the sweat on their chests evaporate.

Su Huan wiped his damp hair and couldn't help bursting into laughter.

Though these three brothers were somewhat blockheaded, being with them gave Su Huan a feeling reminiscent of his past life.

There were no grand plans, no distant goals—just getting chased around by hordes of zombies alongside a bunch of unreliable teammates, flying about like a handful of aimless sparks.

Burning through life with passionate, unbridled hysteria.

With the butcher out of the way, the road ahead became much easier to navigate. With Su Huan continuously boosting the engine, no vehicle could block their path. Eldest Brother and Second Brother, trailing close behind, even managed to push their speed up to sixty miles per hour.

Whenever uninvited mutant beasts or zombies crossed their path, Su Huan swept them away with a burst of gunfire.

When encountering a swarm of zombies, another burst would clear a path, leaving the fully loaded fire truck to brutally crush everything in its wake.

The return journey was hardly any slower than the trip out.

Up on the buildings on either side, people naturally noticed this aggressive convoy and shouted loudly for help. But now that Su Huan had achieved his goal, he couldn't care less about them.

Number Three was currently in a state of hyper-adrenaline, barely hearing anything around him; even Su Huan had to shout at the top of his lungs just to be heard.

...

Su Huan held his gun in one hand, leaning lazily against the car door as his gaze swept across the buildings on both sides.

He remained ready at a moment's notice to spray down any zombies that might suddenly leap out to give them a fright.

Suddenly, two figures rushed out from around a corner.

Just as he raised his muzzle, Su Huan froze momentarily, letting slip, "Bikers?"

"Stop the car!"

"What?!"

Number Three’s face was flushed dark red, the knuckles of his hands gripping the steering wheel turning pale.

"I said stop the car!" Su Huan barked fiercely.

Without a second thought, Number Three slammed his foot onto the brakes. The life-or-death crisis they had just shared was more than enough to forge deep trust between these men.

You could call this kind of friendship crude, but you could never doubt its sincerity!

...

Huang Hai had narrowly escaped the butcher with his life and, after some hesitation, decided he had to get out.

Though the supermarket had food and water, the front doors had already been destroyed, and nobody knew what kind of terrifying monster might wander in next.

So, after conferring with the young man, they had slipped out.

Fortunately, the supermarket's zombies had all been lured away by the motorcycle noise, leaving behind a ground littered with blood and debris.

In the distance, the roars of corpses and the sound of gunfire could still be heard.

Just as the two of them were gripped by fear and confusion, they suddenly spotted three brightly colored fire trucks driving toward them.

The feeling was akin to seeing Noah's Ark amidst a rising flood.

Overjoyed to see the fire trucks coming to a halt, the pair rushed forward and began pounding frantically on the doors.

Taking a closer look, Su Huan saw that the leader was a man in his thirties wearing small wire-rimmed glasses and a light gray suit. Because of long-term neglect, the cuffs of his suit were blackened, filthy, and crumpled. When he opened his mouth in a smile, the peculiar obsequiousness typical of a scholar instantly radiated from him.

The man in small glasses immediately pulled a massive carton of cigarettes from inside his coat and tossed it straight through the front passenger window.

Weeping and laughing all at once, he pleaded tearfully, "Please, kind sirs, let me in the car! Please let me in, I'm begging you..."
