Chapter 6: Combat and Battle Analysis

Although Su Bai knew the exact data of the silkworm larvae, it did not make her relax in the slightest. On the contrary, she kept far away from the encircling larvae, fearful of being entangled by their skill, "Silk Spinning."
Though the larvae appeared weak and harmless, once caught in their silk threads, the consequences could be dire.
Pearl hovered in the air, emitting a crisp, clear call, as if singing a soaring battle hymn.
With its song, notes transformed into specks of light, gently descending to the ground.
Some larvae, upon contact with these notes, immediately fell into a deep sleep, their bodies going limp as they collapsed.
However, not all the larvae were affected by Pearl’s song.
A few remained alert, seizing the opportunity to launch the skill "Silk Spinning" toward the airborne Pearl.
"Pearl!" Su Bai’s heart tightened as she called out urgently.
Several white silk threads shot from the larvae’s mouths, swiftly weaving a net in midair, attempting to bind Pearl.
Pearl nimbly dodged in the air, but the silk’s speed was rapid, nearly ensnaring it.
Seeing this, Su Bai did not hesitate to activate her skill, "Energy Strike."
Her hands quickly clasped together, and between her palms, a pure white energy orb formed, emitting a faint glow as if harboring immense power.
Su Bai aimed at the cluster of larvae and threw the orb with force.
The energy orb arced through the air, striking accurately at the heart of the larvae group.
With a deafening explosion, the orb detonated instantly, its powerful shockwave blasting the surrounding larvae away. A continuous stream of system alerts sounded in Su Bai’s mind:
“Experience +1!”
“Experience +1!”
“Experience +1!”
...
The steady stream of experience notifications brought joy to Su Bai’s heart—she knew this strike had killed dozens of larvae.
At the same time, Pearl seized the chance to break free from the silk’s bonds and quickly flew back to Su Bai’s side.
“Let’s get out of here!” Without hesitation, Su Bai led Pearl away from the perilous area.
After putting some distance between them and the larvae, Su Bai finally breathed a slight sigh of relief.

She glanced back, reflecting with a sigh, “I never imagined these seemingly weak creatures, when in large numbers, would be such a nuisance.”
Pearl hung its head low, looking somewhat dejected.
It had intended to protect its master but had nearly been trapped by the larvae’s silk threads, ultimately saved only with Su Bai’s help.
Pearl felt useless, convinced it had failed in its duty as a tamer’s beast.
Noticing Pearl’s mood, Su Bai gently ruffled its head in comfort and said, “Don’t be discouraged. We’re both weak now, but we will grow stronger. When Pearl gets stronger, I’ll rely on you to protect me.”
Pearl lifted its head, a flicker of determination shining in its eyes, as if resolved to become more powerful.
Su Bai understood that Pearl currently only had the "Singing" skill, which, while providing some crowd control, was not very effective against numerous enemies.
Even its innate talent, "Enchanting Voice," could not reach its full potential due to lack of proficiency.
“Once we’re back, I must have Pearl practice its skills more to improve its proficiency,” Su Bai promised herself.
After confirming their surroundings were safe, Su Bai checked her recent gains.
Opening her system panel, she saw that the "Energy Strike" had slain fifty larvae in one go, earning fifty experience points.
“Just 49 more points to level up,” she calculated.
“Let’s get to level 2 first. Indeed, in this data-driven world, dangers lurk everywhere; a moment’s carelessness can mean being surrounded by monsters. I have to be more cautious in future battles.”
Recalling the fight, Su Bai realized she had been too focused on the immediate enemies and neglected her surroundings.
If not for Pearl’s timely warning, she might have been ensnared by the larvae’s silk.
“It’s clear—during battle, I must not only watch the enemies in front but also stay alert to the surroundings to avoid ambushes,” Su Bai silently concluded.
She looked at Pearl beside her, her heart filled with hope.
Though they were still weak now, with continual effort, they would one day become strong.
When that time came, they would fear no enemy and handle crises like today with ease.
“Let’s go, Pearl. We’ll keep moving forward.” Su Bai patted Pearl’s head and set off toward their next goal.
Su Bai pondered whether to tame a silkworm larva, thinking its silk-spinning skill could be a useful tool to control enemies.
She glanced at Pearl, intending to ask its opinion.
But seeing Pearl drooling, she couldn’t help but laugh.
Pearl seemed to think: Catching silkworms? Is master planning to feed me snacks?

Su Bai sighed helplessly; Pearl didn’t yet understand her meaning.
“This matter can wait. I must be cautious in choosing which beasts to tame.”
She pressed onward into the depths of the Misty Forest, the dry leaves beneath her feet rustling softly in the silence.
The surrounding white fog thickened, narrowing her vision to just a few meters.
A damp, decaying odor hung in the air, heavy and oppressive.
Her steps slowed as strange faint sounds occasionally echoed around her, stirring unease in her heart.
“Something’s not right...” Su Bai whispered.
Her sixth sense, always sharp, warned her that danger lurked deeper within the forest.
This danger was clearly beyond her current ability to confront.
“I shouldn’t go any further. Life is precious, and the fog grows denser. Who knows what’s inside?”
Without hesitation, Su Bai swiftly turned and retraced her path.
Her movements were decisive and without hesitation.
Shortly after Su Bai’s departure, a faint fluttering sound arose from the mist.
Then dozens of white moths emerged from the thick fog.
Their wings were covered with fine scales, which slowly drifted down as they flew.
Astonishingly, the fog itself was produced by these moths’ breath.
Their presence seemed to sustain the forest’s mystery and peril.
Even more chillingly, the scales falling from the moths’ wings landed on the ground where Su Bai had stepped, instantly emitting a sizzling corrosive sound.
The dry leaves and soil rapidly eroded, releasing faint blue smoke.
Though Su Bai did not witness this scene firsthand, she could feel the eerie energy lingering in the air behind her.
This only quickened her pace to leave.
“I’ll stick to hunting silkworm larvae I can easily defeat to level up,” Su Bai resolved.
She knew that with her current strength, recklessly challenging unknown powerful creatures would be tantamount to seeking death.
Compared to that, the silkworm larvae, while troublesome with their silk-spinning skill, were numerous but not deadly—perfect for her and Pearl to train and grow stronger.
