Chapter Fifty-Five: The Grassroots Empress, Part 5
Jade Bamboo was taken aback when Huai Ying calmly made her request without changing her expression.
She hurriedly asked, "What do you intend to do with this?"
“In a chaotic world without laws or rules, I shall create my own law,” Huai Ying replied.
“That man has trafficked many women and children. According to the laws of the place you once belonged to, he should be sentenced to death,” Jade Bamboo said.
“I’ll assist in carrying out the punishment; it should be fine, right?”
“That should be no problem,” Jade Bamboo agreed.
Especially considering there was an invisible empire lurking somewhere unknown, always ready to destroy the world.
However, the blade instantly vaporized into a cloud of dark green poisonous mist the moment it touched the thin cloth, enveloping Sudoro Senju Maru. This sudden change finally altered his expression; though he clumsily managed to block the strike, he looked visibly disheveled.
During this period, Old Yamamoto summoned him alone again, once more broaching the subject of appointing him as captain.
Then, as always, Yamamoto controlled the power of the Plague’s Poem to probe his opponent’s mental world. The pain inflicted caused Shubei Hizaki to wear a deathly expression, occasionally coughing up a spray of blood under the relentless assault of the poem’s power.
It is often said that Chinese people favor relationships and social connections, but the same holds true abroad; wherever people gather, relationships exist. What is abnormal is the overemphasis or misuse of these connections in inappropriate contexts.
By the lakeside, willow trees hung their tender green branches, swaying gently in the breeze, while the lake’s surface shimmered under the setting sun.
The glowing light merged into Rosen’s body amidst the astonished gazes of the inheritors. The latter furrowed his brows, his icy gaze sweeping across them, causing the inheritors to lower their heads, unwilling to meet his eyes.
“The Empress said rightly: if she cannot win the emperor’s favor, why waste time on her? It would be better to choose another beauty to serve Your Majesty at the Phoenix Throne,” Zhang Wanfu chimed in supportively.
He had no intention to linger here, having promised Xing’er that she must return today. Moreover, the emperor had now set his sights on killing him. If he surrendered quietly, what would become of Lan Xing’er? And the child in her womb?
“Fire spirit power subtly overcomes wood spirit power; Shao Meng’s territory seems to have the upper hand,” Tang Kai said, drawing a dagger to sever the main arteries of two members of the Mysterious Alliance, casually touching the blood.
The Hawk Guards collected the ashes respectfully, placing them in a white porcelain urn, which they then presented before Zhao Qian.
Within the brightly lit palace, Consort Su was carefully dressing Li Chengqian in magnificent court robes. Her movements were gentle and meticulous, as if afraid to wrinkle the precious garment.
Yu Yao, frustrated at his own stubbornness, touched his cheek and then smiled, opening the car door on the passenger side and getting in.
A dull rumble shook the entire house, causing the table to tremble violently. The teacups on the table clinked repeatedly, producing an eerie sound.
Yu Yao had no desire to bathe, so he simply went to bed as he was. Early the next morning, he was jolted awake by the vibration of his phone.
Li Er’s punch carried the same imposing momentum as when Yang Simu faced Cao Ci’s strongest blow atop the Sword Qi Great Wall.
All the students bowed respectfully. The crown prince’s presence to meet them was a tremendous honor; otherwise, what choice did they have? Most of them were merely waiting to be sold.
After seeing off Gu Cheng, Yu Yao returned to his bedroom. He was not particularly sleepy; he merely sought an excuse to dismiss Gu Cheng.
As the music began, Xu Ziqiao was the first to step out, holding a tennis racket and dressed in summer sportswear. The others soon followed.
He was long accustomed to such gazes, yet each time he was watched, a pang of sorrow and helplessness welled up within him.
