Chapter 36: Clash! Gin and Amuro Tooru!
Night falls.
Gin is busy maintaining the firearm in his hands. He has already received word that Vermouth has been reassigned to a new mission. The Organization will soon send a mercenary to take her place and assist them in eliminating that troublesome Yan Shuangying.
As for where Vermouth has gone, he does not care. By the same token, he does not care what this mercenary’s code name is, nor what their real name might be. As the ace of the Black Organization’s operations team, he is already among the absolute elite in the world of assassins. Those who know him understand how terrifying he is; therefore, he is indifferent to who comes or who goes. No matter how strong the newcomer is, they will never be his match, and no matter how many people leave, it will not affect the final outcome of his mission to take down Yan Shuangying.
"Big Brother, is the mercenary the Organization hired this time reliable?" Vodka prattled on from the side. "Although I heard she is a very skilled sniper and has quite a few warrants out from Interpol, her primary profession is that of a jewel thief. Won't she go insane halfway through the job and decide to steal some jewelry instead?"
Ever since Korn and Chianti were inexplicably killed by Yan Shuangying, Vodka’s fear of the man has grown with each passing day. It has reached the point where, knowing there is a high probability of encountering Yan Shuangying tonight, he constantly chatters to bolster his own courage, even going so far as to pester his boss.
Naturally, when Gin’s blood pressure rose and he pressed the muzzle of his pistol against Vodka’s forehead, Vodka wisely shut his mouth. He knows that if Gin truly decides to act, no one can stop him. Even if it were the Boss or Rum’s confidants, Gin would dare to orchestrate some "accident" to make anyone who offended him vanish from the face of the earth, leaving no chance of survival.
"You idiot, 'Scorpion' wouldn't dare offend the Organization!" Gin said, barely finding the patience to explain to the last surviving member of his team. "She has already offended Interpol and is wanted by police in various countries. If she were to be hunted by the Organization as well, she would be caught between the police and the criminal underworld and end up with nowhere to die."
He knows a thing or two about Scorpion. Like "Plamya," she is a high-profile fugitive who rose to infamy in Russia. Her real name is Seiran Hoshi, and her only targets are the artifacts and treasures of the Romanov Dynasty. She is not the type to snatch any treasure she sees, unlike Lupin III or Kaitou Kid.
*Screech—*
The sound of a car approaching reaches them. Gin looks up. With dynamic vision far superior to that of an ordinary person, he instantly locks onto the license plate of the moving vehicle. He knows immediately that his target has arrived.
Seiji Asai, who is working with Yan Shuangying, was adopted and renamed from his original name. His adoptive parents later had a child of their own, only to pass away in an accident. Relatives of the Asai family then took over the house and raised the biological child in place of his adoptive parents. Seiji Asai himself left after graduating from medical school to carry out his revenge on Moonlight Island.
While there is no contact between the two parties, if they can capture Seiji Asai's younger brother, it will serve as the perfect threat to force Seiji Asai to reveal himself. And once Seiji Asai appears, Yan Shuangying will naturally come to save him. When that happens, finding and eliminating Yan Shuangying will be far from difficult!
The car stops at the entrance of the house, and a middle-aged woman and a teenage boy emerge from the back seat. The garage door opens automatically, and after the car pulls in, a middle-aged man steps out from the garage. He walks up the steps to the front door of the house, laughing and chatting with the woman and the boy.
"Big Brother, it’s confirmed. That’s our target," Vodka whispers.
Gin nods slightly, signaling the other peripheral members of the Black Organization who followed him to carry out the mission. Once the target is confirmed, they must strike quickly, accurately, and ruthlessly.
*Tap, tap. Tap, tap.*
Just as the middle-aged man opens the door, footsteps echo simultaneously from both inside and outside. The boy from the Asai family turns to look, only to see several men in black suits rushing toward them. The men are even holding pistols! The boy’s soul nearly leaves his body as he watches them raise their weapons, clearly intending to fire.
But at that moment, a pair of hands grabs him by the back of his collar and pulls him directly into the foyer!
*Bang!*
The security door slams shut. A young man with slightly tanned skin is pulling the boy toward the interior. The boy’s aunt and uncle are shivering in the living room. Before the boy can ask what is happening, the sharp sound of gunfire erupts!
*Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!*
Bullets shatter the windows of the house. The plainclothes police officers guarding the living room immediately raise their pistols, seeking cover to return fire. One young man with black-rimmed glasses, looking quite serious, hustles the boy further inside, asking urgently, "Mr. Amuro, they really have come for them!"
"What now? It will take time for the investigators to send backup!"
Rei Furuya, without looking up, draws his pistol and points it toward the stairs leading to the second floor, shouting, "Take the civilians to the second floor! I’ll hold the line down here, don't worry about me!"
Hearing this, Yuya Kazami grinds his teeth and leads the three members of the Asai family toward the second floor. Meanwhile, Furuya finds his own cover. He leans against the back of the sofa, about to raise his phone to determine the enemies' positions, when he hears a gunshot that sounds distinctly different from the rest.
A moment later, a plainclothes officer hiding behind a wall, diagonally opposite the threshold, is struck directly in the head and falls dead. Seeing his comrade’s blood and brains splatter across the floor, Furuya’s eyelids twitch violently. He pulls out his communicator and shouts, "There’s a sniper! It’s Gin! Gin is here himself!"
Back at the top of Pisco’s car company, he had seen bullet holes left by a large-caliber sniper rifle. Now, seeing another body clearly struck by such a weapon, he can conclude with certainty that Gin, who has come to Beika Town, is currently conducting a sniping operation!
"No, I have to do something..." Furuya whispers.
Outside the Asai residence, Gin has set up his rifle on the rooftop of a nearby building. He stares expressionlessly through the scope, locking onto a new target. Then, without hesitation, he pulls the trigger. Each pull of the trigger corresponds to the death of another plainclothes officer. Gin feels no emotion toward their deaths. He has killed too many people. Tonight, no matter how many more die, he will not be moved in the slightest.
