Chapter 55 High-Tier Spells
"Damn it, you're not one of the Brotherhood. I'm going to kill you!" Archmage Aingeru roared, charging after Lu Yang.
Lu Yang hurriedly fled, but the boss's movement speed was 1.5 times that of a player. Soon, the distance between them shrank to less than 30 yards.
When Aingeru was 15 yards away from Lu Yang, he stopped in his tracks and began chanting a spell. As an archmage, he was proficient not only in frost magic, but also in earth, lightning, and water magic.
"Thunder Snake!"
A bolt of lightning as thick as a rice bowl shot fiercely toward Lu Yang. Hearing the incantation, Lu Yang sidestepped and successfully dodged Aingeru's skill, while slightly widening the distance between them.
"Ice Storm!"
An ice ball three times the size of a frost bolt hurtled toward Lu Yang. Calculating the timing, Lu Yang sidestepped once more to evade.
The ice ball struck the wall beside Lu Yang.
With a loud crash, the ice ball shattered into tiny flecks of frost that rained down upon Lu Yang.
System Prompt: You have been attacked by Ice Storm. Movement speed reduced by 50%.
Lu Yang cursed inwardly, but he didn't panic and continued running forward. This movement speed reduction would only last for 3 seconds; as long as he endured for 3 seconds, his mobility would recover.
"Fissure!"
The ground beneath Lu Yang's feet suddenly split open. Encumbered by the speed reduction, Lu Yang couldn't leap across it and was forced to retreat, becoming trapped in place.
Fortunately, his Blink skill was about to finish its cooldown. After successfully dodging Aingeru's next three spells, Blink cooled down, and he hurriedly leaped forward, widening the gap.
Before long, Lu Yang ran out of the cave and saw Xia Yuwei and the others watching him. He immediately shouted, "Everyone fall back 30 yards, quickly!"
Xia Yuwei and the others immediately ran backward, but a few people in the team paid no heed, still curiously staring into the cave.
"Thunder Snake!"
Another bolt of lightning as thick as a rice bowl shot out from behind. Having already crossed the stone bridge, Lu Yang hurriedly dodged to the side.
The Thunder Snake missed Lu Yang and surged straight ahead, striking a warrior who hadn't managed to escape in time.
"564!"
The warrior player dropped straight to the ground. Moreover, the Thunder Snake didn't stop; it branched out to both sides, instantly electrocuting four players standing near the warrior.
"So powerful," Strong Drink and Gentle Breeze said dumbly.
Lu Yang looked back, cast two consecutive Fire Walls across the stone bridge, and fled to Xia Yuwei's side.
"Just look at the boss's level, and you'll understand why it's so strong," Lu Yang said, panting. The running and dodging all the way here had left him somewhat fatigued.
Xia Yuwei and the others took a look and were utterly stunned.
"Level 10, and it's a Lord-tier monster!" Strong Drink and Gentle Breeze exclaimed excitedly.
A Lord-tier monster was a special kind of creature in this game, ranking one tier higher than a boss of the same level.
If a level 10 boss had 50,000 HP, a Lord-tier monster's HP would be 100,000, while all its attributes and skills would also be doubled.
"Expert bro, how did you manage to pull a monster like this out?" Zhang Zibo asked.
Lu Yang caught his breath, recovered his stamina slightly, and said, "Don't be afraid, I've got everything under control. Look, can't this monster not get across? It's afraid of fire."
Only then did Xia Yuwei and the others realize that Aingeru was pacing back and forth near the stone bridge, stubbornly refusing to cross the flame magic Lu Yang had laid down.
"What kind of magic is this? How can it keep burning on the ground?" Xia Yuwei asked.
Lu Yang explained, "This skill is called Fire Wall, a Tier 10 and above Fire Mage skill. I can use this magic because of my staff. This Gold-tier Incendiary Staff comes with the Fire Wall skill built-in."
"Gold-tier!?" Xia Yuwei and the others were once again astounded by Lu Yang.
Lu Yang no longer needed to keep secrets from Xia Yuwei's group, so he posted the attributes of the Incendiary Staff into the team chat.
Incendiary Staff (Gold-tier)
Attack: 4—8
Physique +2
Intelligence +10
Spell Damage +24
Spell Critical Strike Chance +12
Spell Hit Chance +12
Attached Spell: Fire Wall
"I'm dizzy, no way. Expert bro, where on earth did you drop this gear?" Strong Drink and Gentle Breeze asked dumbly.
Xia Yuwei and the others also looked at Lu Yang with excitement. Gold-tier equipment! At a time when they would be thrilled just to obtain a single Silver-tier piece of gear, Lu Yang was already wielding Gold-tier equipment. It made them endlessly envious.
Lu Yang smiled and said, "Secret."
Xia Yuwei was momentarily speechless, realizing she had been teased by Lu Yang. Blue Feather also puffed out her cheeks and glared at Lu Yang.
Zhang Zibo and the others likewise expressed that they felt deeply wounded.
Unable to bear their gazes, Lu Yang said, "Alright, alright, I'll tell you. It's a bug spot. Let's defeat this boss first, and afterwards, I'll personally take you guys there."
"Really?" Xia Yuwei asked pleasantly surprised.
Lu Yang said, "Of course. I'm a man of my word."
In fact, Lu Yang had already considered that since this bug spot would inevitably be exposed sooner or later, he might as well teach the farming method to people he had a good relationship with. Coincidentally, Blue Feather had reached the level where she needed to farm level 5 monsters, so leveling up in that place would suit them perfectly.
"Expert, thank you so much!" Xia Yuwei, Zhang Zibo, and the others said in unison. They had been fretting over where to level up for the next phase.
Lu Yang said, "Don't mention it. I'm going to pull the boss now. Don't attack until I tell you to. This boss is genuinely difficult to fight, so everyone stay sharp."
"Understood," Xia Yuwei and the others chorused. The deaths of those five players earlier were still fresh in everyone's minds.
Aingeru had been pacing around the perimeter of the Fire Wall for a full minute, still unable to find a way through, which forced him to constantly walk back and forth looking for an opening.
Aingeru's movement speed was 1.5 times that of a player. Under such rapid movement, it was extremely exhausting for Lu Yang to try and target him.
After adding two more Fire Walls to reinforce the stone bridge, Lu Yang waited for the right opportunity and cast Scorch on Aingeru.
Just as Aingeru took two steps to the left—as if deliberately walking right into Lu Yang's skill—he was squarely struck by the Scorch.
"158"
The moment Lu Yang was able to hit Aingeru, Lu Yang himself entered Aingeru's attack range. Aingeru instantly stopped in his tracks and began chanting an incantation.
"Fissure!"
The rocky ground beneath Lu Yang's feet abruptly split open. However, the split second he saw Aingeru begin his casting animation, Lu Yang took a step forward, successfully dodging the Fissure skill.
"Water Slash!"
Three ice-blue beams of light suddenly descended directly above Lu Yang's head. With a forward roll, he dodged just in time, followed by three explosive crashes behind him—the sound of water bullets shattering the solid rock.
Watching the spells Aingeru unleashed, Xia Yuwei and the others were too astonished to speak.
"Could this be the kind of skill mages get in the later stages of the game?" Zhang Zibo asked.
"Probably. Otherwise, unless someone has dodging micro-control like Lu Yang's, spells like fireball would almost never be able to hit him," Strong Drink and Gentle Breeze said.
"Heh, they still can't hit him," Cold Wind remarked.
