Having spent 5 silver coins to buy the cloak, Lu Yang replaced his current one with the Spore Cloak. Glancing at his attribute panel, his spell damage had reached 191 points.

Taking out a Town Portal Scroll, he flew back to St. Gall City. Because the game was still in open beta, town portal scrolls sold for only 30 copper coins each. In a few months, when the game officially launched and currency exchange was enabled, each scroll would cost 1 gold coin and require a 5-second cast time.

However, that was a matter for several months later; for now, there was no way to get rich off of them.

Just as he was packing materials into his inventory, Elder Chimu initiated a voice call with him.

Lu Yang chuckled, pressed the accept button, and said, "Guild Master Chimu, is something the matter?"

Having just finished listening to Burning Liquor's in-person report, Elder Chimu said gratefully, "Little brother, you've truly done me an enormous favor. Within a week, at least three thousand of the sixty thousand players in my guild will be able to equip Level 3 Silver-tier gear. You've helped me put our guild far ahead of the others."

Elder Chimu had professional players under his command, as well as specialized gaming studios. It wasn't very difficult for the players in these studios to learn Lu Yang's free-movement combat mode; with skilled players, they could grasp it in less than two days.

Similarly, Xiongba had many such experts under his command, as did other major guilds. The fact that Lu Yang ultimately chose him was what Chimu was most grateful for.

Lu Yang said, "It's not really much of a help. Didn't I ask Burning Liquor to help me tank the monsters anyway?"

"No, I heard from Burning Liquor that the Dark-Armored Warrior was your subordinate. With him around, there was no need for Burning Liquor to go at all. I'll remember this favor, and from now on, if you ever need anything, just let your older brother know," Elder Chimu said.

Lu Yang replied, "If there's an opportunity in the future, I'll definitely come to you for help, Big Brother."

That sentence from Elder Chimu was exactly what Lu Yang wanted. When Lu Yang established his own guild soon, Elder Chimu would be the first ally he wanted to secure. Building a good relationship now would make things easier down the road.

After exchanging a few more casual remarks, Lu Yang hung up the call. Having filled his inventory with materials, he returned to Spore Village and handed another 216 stacks of materials to the village chief, raising his reputation with Spore Village to Revered.

At this point, he was eligible to purchase the Mage skill book, Blazing Speed.

*[Blazing Speed]*

This skill was Lu Yang's absolute favorite. In PvP, combined with Lu Yang's 0.5-second instant Pyroblast, even if he fell into a chaotic melee, he could take the enemy general's head from amidst a throng of ten thousand soldiers.

Spending five silver coins to buy the skill book, Lu Yang chose to learn it.

System Prompt: You have learned Blazing Speed.

Lu Yang opened his skill bar and activated it, a burst of flames suddenly erupting beneath his feet.

System Prompt: You have used Blazing Speed. Your movement speed has increased to 650 points.

A player's initial running speed was 325 points, equivalent to a human running 4 meters per second, while a speed of 650 points was equivalent to a human running 8 meters per second—only 2 meters slower than Usain Bolt.

He ran around Spore Village for a bit and shook his head; in his past life, his maximum movement speed had been twice as fast as this, leaving him unable to find any of that familiar feeling from his previous life.

Stopping in his tracks, Lu Yang took out a Town Portal Scroll and resumed transporting Dark Marsh Spider Silk and Glimmer Elements. After making five consecutive trips without the village chief uttering a single word—merely accepting the silk to raise reputation—it wasn't until the sixth trip, when Lu Yang handed over the final stack of the 600 sets of spider silk to the village chief, that things changed.

System Prompt: You have gained 60 Spore Village reputation.
Your reputation with Spore Village has reached Exalted.

The Spore Village chief raised his head to look up at Lu Yang and said respectfully, "Great warrior, thank you for everything you have done for our village. I have no way to repay you, but this is the most precious gift our village has to offer. I hope you will like it."

System Prompt: You have obtained a Demon God Energy Fragment.

Looking at the fiery-red energy fragment in his inventory, Lu Yang couldn't help but clench his fists in excitement. He had pulled it off.

On the third day of the server's launch, he had gathered all the materials needed to upgrade the Heart of the Demonic God. Now, he truly had the power to control his own destiny.

"Elder Village Chief, thank you for your gift," Lu Yang said. He pulled out a Town Portal Scroll, flew back to St. Gall City, and headed straight for the slums in the southern part of the city.

The slums were home to the lowest-tier laborers of St. Gall City, resulting in terribly poor living conditions. The people walking the streets were all filthy, and the houses were small structures built crudely from rocks.

As Lu Yang walked into the slums, he immediately drew the attention of those around him. Several NPC pickpockets set their sights on his pockets.

Paying them no mind, Lu Yang walked straight into the depths of the slums. Amidst a cluster of dwellings, he found a house built out of granite.

The exterior walls of the house looked as though they hadn't been cleaned in ages, appearing extremely grimy. Lu Yang walked up to the door, banged heavily on it, and called out, "Is anyone in?"

"Damn it, get lost! You want me to kill you?" a roar came from inside the door.

If he were an ordinary player, he would have been scared off. In his past life, Lu Yang had only discovered this place because his level was already over 100, and he wasn't afraid, which gave him the courage to keep knocking.

"Could you please open the door? I'm looking for Kahn, the Servant of the Fire God," Lu Yang said.

The door was banged open, and an old man draped in rough red cloth rushed out in front of Lu Yang, demanding excitedly, "Who are you?"

Lu Yang smiled and said, "Aren't you going to invite me inside?"

He recognized this man as Kahn at a single glance because Kahn was the person he had met with most frequently in his past life.

Kahn calmed his emotions slightly and said, "Please come in."

Lu Yang stepped through the threshold. He remembered that in his past life, when he found this information in the St. Gall City library, he had also used this exact method to gain entry through this door.

Nothing inside the room had changed; it remained utterly barren, with only a blackened stone resting on a table.

After closing the door behind him, Kahn glared angrily at Lu Yang and demanded, "Tell me, who told you that Kahn is the Servant of the Fire God?"

Without a word, Lu Yang took the Heart of the Blazing Demon God from his inventory, placed it right in front of Kahn, and said, "Kahn, take a look at what this is."

"Th-the Heart of the Demonic God! My Lord's heart!" Kahn turned pale with shock, gazing at Lu Yang in utter terror as he asked, "H-how do you have my Lord's heart?"

Lu Yang said, "This is a gift bestowed upon me by the Demonic God."

"Praise the Demonic God! My Lord is not dead, he is truly not dead! Quickly, tell me where he is," Kahn laughed happily.

Lu Yang shook his head and said, "You cannot go to him for now."

He did not want to speak of the fact that the Blazing Demon God was trapped, lest he cause the deity to lose his dignity.
