Protagonist Ability Description

I noticed a reader mentioning that the protagonist's abilities do not feel orthodox enough. Although not many readers seem to mind at this point, I would still like to offer an explanation.

Let me emphasize that I will never write anything like dual-wielding greatswords or feral demon dances. What I strive for is realism and plausibility.

So far, all the so-called "borrowed moves" actually have their shadows in various installments of the series.

The sword and shield flurry comes from the "Sword Dance" Hunter Art; the sword and shield charge is essentially an enhanced version of the Just Rush; the longsword charge has a similar manifestation in Rise, and so on and so forth.

I simply refuse to be rigidly boxed in by in-game animations, endlessly repeating the exact same few moves as if the angle of every sword swing were hardcoded. (In fact, toward the later stages of my previous book, I found this issue rather troublesome. When the moves of the protagonist's group become too fixed, describing repetitive actions makes it very difficult to write fresh and innovative combat scenes.)

Just like a martial artist in reality who is versed in both empty-hand combat and armed weapons, it is entirely natural for them to integrate and harmonize various power-generating techniques. It would be absurd to say that a boxing form must strictly remain a boxing form, or that because a master only taught me to throw a punch a certain way, I must swing my fists that exact same way for the rest of my life.
