Black Raven Prison (10) Connected Sensations

Once the person finally left, Mu Xinning finally breathed a sigh of relief.
That person probably wouldn’t come back to bother her for the time being; now was the time to discuss the real matter.
To prevent eavesdropping, just to be safe, she chose to converse mentally.
“Jin, this Mo Yichen—aren’t you supposed to explain something to me? Given your style, you would have absorbed him long ago, not dawdled like this.”
Jin felt quite displeased; mighty as he was, he never imagined he would one day feel jealous!
What a joke!
“You know I’m not whole right now; my power isn’t at its peak. In my current state, I can’t forcibly absorb him entirely,” Jin said reluctantly.
But this couldn’t go on! If he didn’t quickly swallow this clone, wouldn’t Mu Xinning, who was so easily swayed by beauty and quite the schemer, flirt her clone to death?
What would become of his dignity then!
“So what’s your plan?” Mu Xinning boldly hypothesized. “If you fought him now, who would win?”
“...It’d be fifty-fifty,” Jin whispered.
Mu Xinning exclaimed, “Fifty-fifty?! Aren’t you the original? You can’t even beat a clone?”
How pathetic.
Hearing her tone, Jin immediately panicked and hurried to explain, “Don’t think I don’t know you’re laughing at me inside! But I really can’t help it! The strength of a detached body depends on the original’s strength...”
His voice grew quieter, “That is to say... how strong I am now, the clone is equally strong, since the original and clone are linked, and the clone’s strength adjusts accordingly...”
“But the power I’m missing is scattered elsewhere. If the distance is too great, the clone can’t resonate with the original. I suppose these clones now all have independent consciousness.”
Mu Xinning sensed his growing dissatisfaction, his reluctance clear.
Sigh. But she couldn’t just stop playing because of some mechanism, right?
Besides, the clone looked so good—flirting and coaxing him was quite the amusement~
In front of others, she could pretend and use ventriloquism, but before the clone, she could be herself.
Not only was he handsome, but also attentive to her.
No matter how you look at it, she was the one gaining.
And gaining big time!
She was excited inside. If she could meet Jin’s clones in every copy, then she was set for life! Although the odds were probably slim.
In her previous life, she hadn’t even faced a boss, let alone a once-in-a-millennium handsome NPC like this.
She had to cherish this chance to flirt with a handsome man. Next time, who knew if it would come again?

Mu Xinning first comforted Jin, then said, “I understand. So how do you plan to absorb him? You really can’t do it now; if you fight, both sides will end up injured.”
Jin quickly replied anxiously, “Of course, I have a method! But... my clone has to be willing to be absorbed; otherwise, it can’t be reclaimed.”
“Willing, huh...” Mu Xinning pondered deeply over those words. Jin quieted down, waiting for her conclusion.
...
Elsewhere, the other three returned just on time.
The prison cell door was forcefully pushed open by Zhou Kui. He stepped inside first, his eyes scanning Mu Xinning’s bed, which was still empty.
Could something really have happened to her?! His expression suddenly stiffened.
Zhang Dafu followed, clutching a half-eaten steamed bun. Seeing Zhou Kui standing still, he looked up as well, slowly stopping his chewing, “The bed is empty...? The number 3 girl really hasn’t come back? Could she have met some misfortune...?”
Zhou Kui hadn’t fully believed it before, but now he could only think this was true. “It’s already past nine; number 3 might really have...”
He actually felt a bit regretful. It was rare for a girl to spark his interest in exploring.
Too bad she died too soon.
Feng Xuanyuan came in last, closing the door behind her. Hearing their words, she sneered, “I told you, someone so delicate couldn’t have survived last night! Probably even the bones have been gnawed clean by those monsters by now.”
She sat on her own bed, her tone dripping with schadenfreude.
Zhou Kui had just been quietly lamenting; then this woman spoke so bluntly.
He’d seen ungrateful people before...
But never someone so shamelessly outspoken!
His anger flared instantly.
“Shut up!” Zhou Kui turned sharply, his face dark and terrifying. “Don’t spread rumors without seeing the corpse! There are still unexplored areas in this copy; maybe number 3 is just trapped somewhere!”
“Trapped where?” Feng Xuanyuan raised an eyebrow, retorting, “In last night’s situation, the only place that could hold someone is inside a monster’s belly! Zhou Kui, stop fooling yourself! Number 3 is definitely dead!”
But who exactly was this number 3?! Even dead, she had Zhou Kui speaking up for her.
What was Mu Xinning, really? What did she amount to?!
Feng Xuanyuan felt a pang in her chest, tinged with jealousy.
But soon, she thought it didn’t matter, and her venomous face reappeared.
After all, the person was dead.
She... never bothered with the dead!
Zhang Dafu looked at Zhou Kui’s tense face, then at Feng Xuanyuan’s spiteful expression, and couldn’t help but try to mediate.
“Brother Zhou, what the number 2 girl said... seems to make some sense. We didn’t see her this morning, and it’s already past nine now...”
He hesitated, then finished, “If she were fine, she would’ve been back in the cell by now... Maybe something really happened...”

“Hmph... exactly! Uncle Zhang really understands,” Feng Xuanyuan added fuel to the fire, chatting casually with Zhang Dafu.
Zhou Kui lay back on his bed, ignoring the other two.
Deep down, he refused to believe Mu Xinning was really dead.
That girl... was obviously special; she surely had a strong life force!
...
Jin saw Mu Xinning had been thinking for a long time without responding, so he called to her mind, “You don’t need to keep pondering. I only know that power can make all things submit.”
As long as he defeated this clone, he could reclaim some of his power.
To him, it was a very straightforward, brute-force method.
But doing so might cost him something as well.
Mu Xinning sensed the risk and said, “Then wouldn’t you get hurt? If the strength is equal, neither side gains after the fight.”
His tendrils moved restlessly along her lower back. “Then what if I directly control his mind, make him willing?”
“That won’t work.” Mu Xinning shook her head gently. “You said it yourself—he has to be willing. You control his mind, not his heart. And you’re linked; if you control him, wouldn’t he sense it?”
Jin thought carefully and realized that was indeed the case.
Right, he had been too angry earlier to notice the details.
When Mu Xinning tried to feed Mo Yichen, he had roared inside Mo Yichen’s mind, who seemed to sense something and stepped back. So the clone could sense him, albeit faintly.
Not completely oblivious!
It required a strong wave of power for the clone to sense the original, and vice versa.
But just now, Jin’s anger didn’t register on the clone because it was merely an internal upset, not a genuine heartfelt anger.
Only when he saw the little one trying to feed the clone porridge did he become truly angry.
He was increasingly confused about himself!
And using mind control consumed a lot of power, so the power fluctuations would certainly be sensed by the clone.
Trying to cheat would only backfire, and the one embarrassed would be himself!
He definitely didn’t want to be laughed at by this little one again!
