Black Crow Prison (19) Access Card
Feng Xuanxuan endured the pain to inflict another wound upon herself, successfully securing readmission to the hospital. This time, however, she was assigned to room 402.
Her mind raced, and she quickly sensed something was wrong.
No! Once Zhou Kui and his companion were discharged, their room should have reopened. By rights, since Number 3 had arrived at the hospital before them, she should have been the first to leave based on the discharge sequence.
Yet here she was, in 402. This meant that Number 3 must still be here! Otherwise, she should have been assigned to 401.
It was also possible that Number 3 was still in solitary confinement and hadn't had the chance to process her discharge, or perhaps she was already dead.
At this thought, the corners of Feng Xuanxuan’s mouth curled upward.
If she were dead, that would be wonderful!
Back in her room, Feng Xuanxuan pondered deeply. She envied Number 3; they were both frail women, so why was it that Number 3 could thrive without anyone to protect her?
This invalidated the survival strategy she had always relied upon. In contrast, Number 3 could survive on her own, while she was nothing more than a parasite tethered to others for survival.
The jealousy burned within her, impossible to extinguish.
However, these personal emotions were not the priority.
Clearing the level was what mattered most! Now that everyone seemed tired of dealing with her, her best course of action was to finish the level quickly and find a new place to go.
Feng Xuanxuan felt a wave of anxiety. She knew well that her beauty was her only asset, and without the protection of the strong, she was doomed.
Once she successfully cleared the level and left, with her looks, why would she struggle to find a new benefactor?
After organizing the clues she had gathered, Feng Xuanxuan eventually set her sights on the elevator.
The mysterious man in the white coat seemed to have used something to tap against the operating console.
Feng Xuanxuan first thought that the object might be an access card capable of operating the elevator.
But the rules stated that one must obtain special approval to use the elevator.
If that was the case... perhaps one had to apply for permission at a specific location to receive an access card before being allowed to use the lift?
But the key question remained... how could she apply for this access card?
Feng Xuanxuan was lost in frustration.
...
Mu Xinning had slept for a long time, only waking up as evening approached.
Jin, seeing she was finally awake, grumbled with slight dissatisfaction in her mind, "You really are a sleepyhead..."
However, remembering how she had just been reborn, Jin understood.
She was indeed a heavy sleeper.
Mu Xinning stretched. "It’s almost nightfall... should I go out for a walk?"
Refreshed after her nap, she now wanted to take the elevator to explore the underground level; she figured this was the only floor she hadn't inspected thoroughly yet.
The escape route would certainly pass through the underground level. Once she finished scouting it, she could prepare for the breakout.
A light knock sounded at the door, and Mo Yichen entered carrying dinner. "You didn't eat breakfast or lunch today; you must be hungry, right?" He placed the tray on the bed table.
He knew that after the fight yesterday, the host body possessed by the main entity would be exhausted, which was why he hadn't come earlier.
"Thank you, Doctor Mo. I am indeed a bit hungry..."
However, Mu Xinning didn't rush to eat this time. Instead, she handed him the neatly folded white coat.
It was a pity there was no washing machine here, or she would have liked to wash it before returning it.
Mu Xinning said, feeling slightly embarrassed, "Thank you for bringing me back. I fainted yesterday; I'm sorry for all the trouble I caused you..."
Mo Yichen froze. Could it be that his main entity hadn't told her about that?
He took the coat and put it back on, responding gently, "It’s nothing, just a small favor. Do you feel any better now?"
Mu Xinning began to choose her food and started eating slowly. "Yes, I'm fine. I feel full of energy now!"
Mo Yichen was relieved. "Eat slowly. I'll come back later to change your dressing." He then left the room to retrieve his medical kit.
Jin spoke with a somewhat unnatural tone, "You need to take good care of your body. Remember to eat more—look at that scrawny frame of yours; you’re never going to grow taller."
The little thing needed to eat more so he could replenish his energy.
Mu Xinning was speechless. She was eighteen; her growth period as a girl had long passed, so no matter how much she ate, she wouldn't grow any taller.
It was a small regret.
Thinking of her wounds, Mu Xinning had been very careful while bathing, though they had gotten slightly wet.
Still, she noticed they were nearly scabbed over, so it shouldn't be a problem.
After she finished eating and had her bandages changed, Mo Yichen asked, "There isn't really anything fun to do in this prison. Is there anything you'd like to do?"
*Clear the level.*
That was the first thought that popped into Mu Xinning’s mind. Then, realizing something, she replied, "I want to breathe some fresh air."
This was a hint that staying inside the building was too stifling, and it would be nice to walk outside more often.
Mo Yichen understood her meaning, so he reached into his pocket and handed her the white access card.
"I’ll give this to you now. You can use the elevator whenever you like, whether to go to the rooftop to sunbathe or to the open-air playground for a run—it’s up to you," he told her.
Mu Xinning took it, feeling rather startled. She hadn't expected him to hand over the card so readily.
However, having the approval come directly from the instance Boss provided a great sense of security, especially since she had successfully obtained the access card.
Mo Yichen continued, "I will come to deliver your food on time every afternoon and evening. You can use this card whenever you like, but I have one condition."
Hearing the word "condition," Mu Xinning instantly felt the card in her hand lose its appeal, fearing he might ask for something excessive. "Go ahead."
"Will you keep me company every morning from now on?" Mo Yichen’s gaze was soft, and he offered her a gentle smile.
Mu Xinning was captivated by his smile. She had only ever seen him shy before, never smiling like this.
It was truly beautiful...
"Okay..." she replied subconsciously. By the time she snapped back to reality, it was too late to take it back.
"Good, then it's a promise." Mo Yichen patted her head; her hair was soft and felt wonderful.
Jin: "..."
He really felt that five days was far too long!
If he had to watch them interact so intimately every day, it would be more painful than being killed!
What was wrong with him? He didn't know! Jin could only fume and grumble to himself in the depths of her mind.
Mo Yichen left shortly after. Mu Xinning then pulled the zipper on the back of her doll and tucked the white access card inside.
Although her silver card hadn't come in handy in this instance, it finally had a companion.
She left the room, intending to head toward the elevator room.
Feng Xuanxuan was currently lying in her room, lost in thought. She had heard footsteps in the corridor earlier that evening.
The footsteps had headed toward 401. Since Zhou Kui and the others had already left, and based on her observations from yesterday, the hospital NPCs would not visit a player's room on their own.
It must have been the man in the white coat.
Therefore, she deduced that Number 3 might have returned a long time ago, perhaps even brought back by the man in the white coat!
After the man left, footsteps sounded in the corridor again, originating from next door, 401.
It must be Number 3 coming out!
Feng Xuanxuan was puzzled. It was so late; where could Number 3 be going?
Driven by curiosity, she quietly slipped out of her room and followed the sound of the footsteps.
Jin chuckled playfully in her mind. "Little one, that woman is tailing you."
