Volume One, Chapter 55: Fright
Mu Yi spoke calmly. He had no wish to stir up trouble, but that did not mean he was afraid of it. Now that Qin Le had come knocking at his door, he could not simply shrink back.
“The palace is heavily guarded. His Majesty has decreed that no one is to disturb the Empress during her convalescence. I know little myself, but since the Empress gave birth prematurely, she must need rest. You are an outsider; if you rush in to see her now, you may well anger His Majesty.” It was said that when no news could be gleaned from the palace, it boded ill—she grew all the more anxious for Lan Rongyue’s safety.
“Enough, Celestial Phoenix Yao! My father didn’t kill you, so what exactly do you want?” Xing Yunjie was thoroughly vexed. Ignoring Xing Tian, he could not, despite having stopped considering him a father, simply stand by and watch others harm him.
Hearing this, Skyhawk was taken aback. “Change? Some things? What do you mean by that?” he asked, frowning in confusion.
It was not intention, but the blood-red longsword had locked onto his aura, so the youth could only frown as he watched Xiao Yan and Nalan Yanran depart.
On the shores of the desert sea, the Four-Eyed Star Lord received a divine edict from the Celestial Emperor Haotian. Sand God Shayang and Sea God Yueqiu together opened the City of Flowing Sands, and the Star Lord entered the city of Liusha.
“Thank you, Senior Wu Xin and Senior He Xi, for your concern. I’m fine now. By the way, is Senior Jiang Yi inside?” Mu Yi naturally understood that their concern was genuine.
Zhou Kun’s face remained impassive as he gave a cold snort. With a flick of his right hand, a great mass of flame sprang from his palm. Before him, the fire twisted into the form of a crimson bird, vivid and lifelike, resembling a vermillion bird. With a sweep of his arm, the firebird, trailing blazing light and scorching heat, swooped toward Xie Hun.
“That’s right!” Upon hearing this, Zhou Tian smiled faintly and happily stowed the martial arts scroll into his spatial ring.
Led by the great Ouyang, everyone stepped into the special teleportation array. As the familiar white light flashed, they opened their eyes to find themselves within the legendary Panlong Valley.
Suddenly, an awe-inspiring and terrifying aura burst forth from within Zhang Biao, startling Xue Hao.
“Aren’t you going to the restroom?” As Chu Li reached the door, Jiang Nan suddenly blurted out.
Since the death of the Duke of England, Zhang Weixian, not one of the ministers currently in Emperor Chongzhen’s service dared publicly question or criticize the emperor’s decisions.
Not far away, Grandmaster Ghost Hand, seeing Jiang Feng’s resolution, could not help but applaud.
Two longswords hovered in the air, slowly revolving at her side, dark spiritual energy curling around their blades, the chill intensifying. Even Li, a martial spirit master, could barely withstand such bone-deep cold.
Given her mother’s questionable taste, Xue Wei gradually began to resist the blind dates her mother arranged.
Fist met palm, and the force gathered in Lin Feng’s punch instantly shattered the defensive wall of energy Mo Hai’s palm had created. The remaining power crashed down on Mo Hai like a thunderbolt, sending him flying—defeated at Lin Feng’s hands.
The Celestial Void Ox clan has always been few in number; even the loss of one is a tremendous blow to them.
Hearing this, Su Mo finally relented, yet she still clung to Lin Feng’s hand, showering him with thanks.
“Jiang Nan, how long has it been since you’ve had a life?” An Lei asked, her eyes still on the newspaper, not bothering to turn her head.
“Idiot. Do you see now? No matter how dark it is here, it makes no difference,” Vegeta said coldly.
The gray-robed man struggled to his feet, staggering as he looked at the assassin, his whole body trembling uncontrollably.
At that moment, there was a dull thud—a bullet shot unexpectedly from beneath the sea.
Suddenly, Zhang Ziyu forced himself to his knees before him, using the table for support and performing a formal salute. Hua Qingyue did not bid him rise.
Now, he had already proven his strength; the world was his. The only thing he still desired was to win over Bu Tianyin.
With a sly smile, the white-haired man said his piece to Lan Haichen, then vanished from the room without a trace.
Lan Haichen remained on guard nearby, but wary of the assassin’s lethal skill, he did not dare approach too closely, only watching from a safe distance.
With Yu Yin’s commands, the robot Aili began to move. It walked to a workbench where all manner of materials and parts were spread out.
From the moment he saw her again, he referred to himself as “I.” He found, quite naturally, that before her he had no desire to put on airs. In any case, it was pointless.
Such matters could not be settled in a moment, but Sugawara Kiichiro was confident in these works.
Suddenly, Song Rui’s scream pierced the night, tearing through the sound of waves. In the stillness, it was terrifying, like the roar of some monstrous sea creature lurking in the deep.
“Why?” I shook my head vigorously, refusing. “I can’t drive this.” I thought to myself, I can barely ride a bicycle without crashing into someone; driving a car was out of the question—and even if I learned, I couldn’t afford one.
Murong Qianshang was the one she had set her sights on. Even if she could not possess him, he must die by her hand—she would not allow anyone else to covet him.
