Volume One, Chapter 95: The Elder and the Younger
Yun Mojiu’s heart leapt.
This is bad!
Moving at lightning speed, she dispatched the two ghosts beside her and sprang in pursuit of the direction where the whip had vanished.
Yet in just a fleeting instant, the figure had already disappeared without a trace.
She hurriedly pulled out the tracking talisman she’d prepared earlier.
But no matter what she did, the talisman wouldn’t float.
This meant the tracking talisman could no longer sense Xiao Xingrong’s presence.
In other words, the talisman was now useless!
“Master, someone outside has delivered a visiting card, saying he will pay a call before dusk,” Butler Ning Ze suddenly presented an invitation.
Back home, Shu Yao finally breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, the weather forecast from a few days ago had warned of a possible typhoon making landfall, so she had stocked up on plenty of food and purified water. If she rationed carefully, it would last almost a week.
A loud clang rang out. Even in such circumstances, Luo Lie could still return his sword in time and parry with the scabbard. The force from this block nearly twisted Pei Min’s scabbard out of his grip.
“What you said about wanting me to help with the turmoil about to happen in the central circle—I’m sorry, but I cannot agree.”
“You haven’t eaten yet, have you? Hurry and sit down, eat a little more,” Old Luo called to Xue Hai and the others still standing, urging them to take their seats.
After discerning all this, Ji Lan not only failed to feel reassured, but instead grew more suspicious of this man, and even developed a peculiar wariness toward him.
But it was already too late—the secret guard had inhaled just a trace of gray-red gas, and instantly cried out in pain, collapsing headlong to the ground and rolling about in agony.
“Bone-eating flower!?” Chen Feifan and Xiao Mufeng had never heard of such a flower, not even the trapweed; this was their first time encountering it.
Zhan Yunting and Hu Tong exchanged glances, the shock in their eyes evident. Just a simple exchange, and both returned empty-handed. Even if his cultivation wasn’t high, his combat skills were surely formidable.
“No need. You can handle this yourself. Go rest in Red Moon as well; you’ve worked hard on matters in the second circle,” Ling sincerely thanked Kate. Though he wasn’t ready to call him ‘father’ yet, he no longer found him so disagreeable.
He truly lacked solid proof—even with similar IP addresses, he couldn’t claim with certainty that the recent events were linked to Lin Zhouyi.
A clear, ethereal chime sounded by his ear. Bingzhu paused, staring at the two intact bells before him, strung with a thin red thread. No sign of repair was visible, though the former brilliance was gone.
“Mom, didn’t you say this was the Jin family’s secret manual handed down through generations? How come you wrote it yourself? Is it really good for the body?” Jin Faguang asked doubtfully.
Mo Li’s expression darkened further, memories rising of the day she dressed Gong Xuanyue in bridal robes. Even knowing that after ten years, she had to return to the demon realm and marry Gong Xuanyue again, his heart ached.
That muddle-headed girl—does she even know what day it is? Does she realize what her status is in the Guo residence now? Must she wait until the master gives up on her to be satisfied?
“It’s been so many days,” Leng Sicheng’s voice was heavy, his cold, harsh face showing its first cracks of resentment and anger.
She turned and walked back to the ice couch, sitting across from him. Her long white hair cascaded like lavish moonlight, her lips pale and nearly translucent.
Her mind was still dazed; glancing beside her, she suddenly realized Leng Sicheng was gone.
The bodyguard turned the wheel and drove her over. The past few days at Leng Group, reporters had been lying in wait; to avoid trouble, she went straight through the employee entrance at the back.
During public events she denied it, but then Leng Sicheng posted on social media, and she “accidentally” liked it.
Hearing the wooden door close, and watching the figure vanish from sight, Elena’s already awkward expression became even more strained.
