Chapter 117: No More Rufus and Ten Thousand Swords
An Yue'er was somewhat dazed.
It had been the same way last time at the Ascension Platform; merely bringing out Senior Zhu’s calligraphy had been enough to cause a True Immortal to perish on the spot. Perhaps to the Tianwu World, a True Immortal was an unreachable existence, but to Senior Zhu, they were nothing more than ants. Killing a True Immortal was as easy as chopping vegetables—or perhaps even easier.
"As long as Senior Zhu is here, no scheme or trickery will have any effect!" Leng Qianxue said firmly. Because of her excitement, her small face was flushed, looking quite alluring.
Cao Renjian and the Holy Master of the Ruofu Palace finally lifted their heads from the ground. Their eyes were filled with panic—even terror. How could this be? Hadn't victory been within their grasp? How had it ended up like this? Even a True Immortal had failed to survive Long Ruxuan’s hands; they had died without even brushing a corner of Long Ruxuan’s robes. They felt as if they were dreaming, and it was a ridiculous, impossible dream. What kind of supreme expert was hidden here in the Southern Barbarian lands? To be this formidable... As they pondered this, they were suddenly overcome by a boundless sense of despair. They had committed grave wrongs!
...
It was unclear how much time had passed before the crowd finally regained their senses.
"What just happened? Is this real? And who were those two people earlier?"
"The stick in his hand was actually able to kill a True Immortal so casually..." a white-haired sect leader murmured. He looked around at the scenery, feeling as though he were living in a dream, devoid of any reality.
"This will surely be recorded in the annals of the Tianwu World. Such a terrifying battle is far beyond the level our world should possess; even in the Immortal Realm, this must be a rarity!"
"The Myriad Sword Sect and the Ruofu Palace had True Immortals hidden behind them—two of them, at that. So, what kind of person is hidden behind Lu Ran and Long Ruxuan?"
"Is it all over now?"
The crowd still wore expressions of confusion as they began to discuss the scene before them, all holding onto an attitude of profound shock.
"Holy Master of Ruofu Palace, how do you explain this?" The Master of the Charity Pavilion, that beautiful woman, was the first to react. She turned to the person beside her, her face full of suspicion.
"I sensed a very familiar aura from those two True Immortals earlier. It was the same power that attacked me. Ruofu Palace and Myriad Sword Sect, you must provide a proper explanation today." Changsun Chengluo was no longer reticent; he spoke with a tone of interrogation. "If I am not mistaken, those two True Immortals were the ones who destroyed several holy lands!"
As soon as Changsun Chengluo said this, the entire scene erupted in an uproar. Everyone turned to look at Cao Renjian and the others. Their eyes were filled with suspicion and sharpness.
Cao Renjian and the Holy Master of the Ruofu Palace now wished they could find a hole to crawl into and escape. Their faces were as black as the soot at the bottom of a pot. The True Immortals were now dead, and the genius disciples of their sects had perished along with them. They truly had not expected that the small Southern Barbarian region would possess a power capable of shaking everything, to the point where even True Immortals could only wait to be slaughtered. Now that the True Immortals were dead, the two of them were exposed, and everyone was turning against them. They wished they were dead!
Of course, actually dying was out of the question. Now, they only thought of how to explain themselves and brush it off.
"We don't know what happened!" the Holy Master of the Ruofu Palace said, biting the bullet and trying to deflect all responsibility.
"Yes, yes, we had no idea what was going on. It had nothing to do with us," Cao Renjian quickly followed suit. As a Holy Master and a Sect Leader, they were old foxes who naturally understood the current situation. The True Immortals were dead; they had no leverage left. If these events were pinned on them, their sects would be finished!
"Nothing to do with you? You didn't know anything? Ha!" The Holy Master of Lingji sounded as if he had heard a great joke, speaking coldly.
"Fine words, but now that things have reached this point, you still want to shirk responsibility?" The Holy Master of Ziyang wished he could twist their heads off right there.
"The truth is right before our eyes. The Myriad Sword Sect and the Ruofu Palace colluded with the True Immortals who destroyed the other holy lands, intending to annihilate the entire Tianwu World. This is a heinous crime!"
Everyone at the scene fixed their eyes on Cao Renjian and the Holy Master of the Ruofu Palace. Their eyes were bright, and their hearts were like clear mirrors. They could not be fooled by these two. No one believed a word they said! If not for these people, they would never have needed to come to the Southern Barbarian lands, and so many holy lands would not have been reduced to ruins. The collusion between the Ruofu Palace and the Myriad Sword Sect was infuriating!
"Goddess Qianxue, Goddess Yue'er, what do you think should be done with the people from the Myriad Sword Sect and the Ruofu Palace? Does Senior Zhu have any orders?" The Holy Master of Lingji looked at Leng Qianxue and An Yue'er with great respect.
Leng Qianxue shook her head. "Senior Zhu has never said anything. But since they have caused such turmoil in the Tianwu World, they are undoubtedly guilty of heinous crimes. Even if Senior Zhu were here, he would certainly not forgive them easily!"
"The two Holy Masters may decide the punishment," she said coldly. Indeed, Leng Qianxue was very kind, but that did not mean she was foolish!
"Understood." The Holy Master of Lingji immediately nodded in agreement. "Then, from this day forward, the Ruofu Palace and the Myriad Sword Sect shall no longer exist in the Tianwu World!"
With that single sentence, the Ruofu Palace and the Myriad Sword Sect were as good as erased. Everyone was shocked by these words. The faces of Cao Renjian and the Holy Master of the Ruofu Palace turned deathly pale. Had things progressed far beyond their expectations? Their sects would suffer along with them. Even if they were quasi-immortals, what did it matter? The two True Immortals had been killed without a trace left behind. Even if they could evade the retaliation of the Jixing Holy Land and the Ziyan Holy Land, could they truly escape that earth-shattering power? The expert likely wouldn't even need to appear; a mere flick of a finger would suffice to wipe them out...
"No... the Ruofu Palace cannot be destroyed in my hands..."
