Chen Xiao was stunned by the woman who had suddenly crashed through the window. He stared at the muzzle of her gun, then took in her appearance. A thought flashed through his mind: This person looks strikingly similar to Red Seven whom I met earlier today!

“Put it down!” Black Seven’s voice carried an unusual vigilance, her eyes locked onto Chen Xiao’s hand, unwilling to miss even the slightest movement of his fingers.

“Who are you?” Instead of backing down, Chen Xiao stood up, gripping the object in his hand tightly. “Who are you?”

Black Seven’s gaze was icy, tinged with nervousness. “You fool, do you even realize how dangerous what you’re holding is? Put it down! If you don’t, I won’t be gentle! Even if you’re an assigned ward, I’ll still—”

Yet Chen Xiao seemed to calm instantly. His eyes narrowed as he faced this cold, black-clad woman, feeling not a trace of fear. “You broke into my home… to steal my parents’ keepsake? Who exactly are you?”

“Hmph, you brought this on yourself.” Black Seven made her decision in a flash. The barrel of her gun quickly gathered a blue glow, and the beam shot viciously at Chen Xiao!

Electricity?!

Chen Xiao was struck by the electric charge, his body instantly paralyzed, wracked with pain. Sparks crackled from the spot on his chest where he’d been hit, a burnt smell filling the air. His hand trembled, dropping the test tube. Black Seven lunged forward, rolled on the ground, and reached for the test tube.

“Don’t hurt him!”

Yaya, who had been fearful when Black Seven appeared, suddenly found courage as she witnessed Chen Xiao struck by the electric gun. Clenching her fists, she screamed at Black Seven—

Boom!

Yaya’s entire body erupted in dazzling blue light. Currents shot from her, and a series of explosions echoed: bulbs on the ceiling, the TV in the living room—all shattered at once. Glass from the TV screen flew, shards of the overhead bulb rained down, and arcs of blue light spread everywhere.

Black Seven felt her fingers touch the test tube, but suddenly her entire body convulsed! She sensed a powerful surge of electricity hit her in an instant.

With a crisp snap, not only did the electric shock course through her, the headset and visor on her ears exploded in a surge of blue light, unable to withstand the overload. Shards from the blast wounded her forehead and the corner of her eye.

She crashed to the floor, clutching the test tube tightly, but as she drew a breath, she realized her body was numb, unable to muster any strength.

At that moment, Chen Xiao recovered. Despite his agony, he let out a low growl and lunged at Black Seven, the two of them tumbling and grappling on the ground.

Under normal circumstances, Black Seven would have flicked Chen Xiao away with a single finger. But now, after being struck by Yaya’s electric surge, the test tube was snatched from her grasp.

Chen Xiao seized the tube, quickly rolling aside. Before he could stand, he saw Black Seven already raising the electric gun, aiming it straight at him.

Black Seven’s face was twisted in pain, breathing heavily, blood still trickling from the wounds left by her exploded headset. Yet, her grip on the gun was unnervingly steady. “Put it—put it down! That item is too dangerous for you!”

Chen Xiao stared back with unwavering resolve. “I don’t care who you are, or why you’ve come! But… but this is my parents’ keepsake. No one will take it from me—unless I die!”

Black Seven’s face flushed with rage, her eyes blazing. “I didn’t want to hurt you, but you asked for it!”

At this moment, Yaya ran over to Chen Xiao’s side, struggling to help him up. Her innocent face showed a faint hint of disgust as she faced Black Seven. “I… I don’t like you.”

As she spoke, Yaya opened her hands toward Black Seven, and a current shot from her palms, striking the gun in Black Seven’s hand. In an instant, the electric gun exploded in a flash of blue light!

Black Seven tossed the gun aside, rolling backward before finally scrambling to her feet, staring at Yaya in shock and suspicion. “Strange… your ability is to control electricity?”

“I don’t like you! Go away!”

Black Seven felt her numbness fade and her strength return. She sneered, “Hmph, you think a bit of electric power can oppose me? Ignorant little girl.” Her gaze shifted past Yaya, locking onto Chen Xiao. “I’m not here to hurt you… but what you’re holding is extremely dangerous! If it leaks, it will cause tremendous trouble!”

Chen Xiao replied with a cold smile, clearly not believing a word she said.

Black Seven, furious, suddenly tore off her leather gloves and tossed them aside, stepping toward Chen Xiao and Yaya.

“You—don’t come any closer!” Yaya seemed fearful, sensing the intimidating aura emanating from Black Seven. At last, she closed her eyes, raised her hand, and screamed at Black Seven—

A current shot from Yaya’s palm, but as it reached Black Seven, it abruptly stalled, as if blocked by something invisible.

“Pitiful little girl.” Black Seven’s smile was cold, her once-beautiful face now menacing. “Controlling electricity is only the most basic ability. An unawakened Blueblood thinks she can oppose me? My ability is to manipulate air. I can create a vacuum layer around my body. In a vacuum, no electricity can pass!”

With that, she glanced at Yaya coldly, waved her hand casually, and with a thud, Yaya’s small body was flung across the room, crashing into the wall and striking her head, knocking her unconscious.

Chen Xiao, already wounded from earlier, had been further weakened by the electric gun. Seeing Black Seven’s ruthless strength, he refused to retreat, biting his lip, bending down to grab a wooden stick—the leg from the shattered coffee table—and swung it at Black Seven with a shout.

“Hmph!” Black Seven scoffed, blocking with her arm. The stick bounced off her, sending pain shooting through Chen Xiao’s hand.

He immediately recalled Red Seven, the woman he’d met today, whose appearance closely resembled Black Seven, but whose strength was enough to tear through metal car doors!

Black Seven shook her head disdainfully. “Don’t you understand yet?”

He knew now—no matter what, he was no match for this mysterious woman in black.

Yet the resilience he’d cultivated over the years would not allow him to bow his head to her.

Bow his head?

When he looked at his parents’ urn, flown in from America, Chen Xiao never despaired.

When he saw creditors carry away his family’s valuables one by one, he watched with cold indifference.

When he saw the home he’d lived in for over a decade sealed off, his childhood stripped away, he simply left with calm detachment.

When those once warm relatives became false and indifferent, Chen Xiao merely smiled with pride and walked away whistling.

Years of hardship had forged an iron heart in this eighteen-year-old boy.

All the more so, the item in his hand was the precious keepsake left by his parents!

“I understand now.” Chen Xiao suddenly smiled. His handsome face was stained and disheveled, but his gaze was tranquil—astonishingly, he could still smile.

“I understand, I’m not your match.” He smiled coldly. “I can’t protect this item.”

“Understood? Then give it to me!” Black Seven reached out her hand.

He drew a deep breath, his gaze sharp as lightning, staring at Black Seven. He kept smiling, his eyes shining brighter and brighter. “Too bad—I tend to resist to the end, even if I know I can’t win… I won’t bow my head.”

With that, he twisted his body fiercely, and with all his strength, smashed the glass test tube against the wall behind him!

Black Seven’s face changed drastically, her pupils contracting as she let out a sharp cry, her hand snatching at Chen Xiao—

She caught him.

A crackling sound echoed from Chen Xiao’s shoulder, the joint dislocated instantly by Black Seven’s force. Yet, despite the agony, the boy merely furrowed his brow, his motion never faltering.

Smash! The crisp sound of breaking glass, and the ice-blue liquid splashed between the wall and Chen Xiao’s hand, the shards lacerating his palm, revealing a subtle, uncanny aura.
