Chapter Sixty-Four: Salivary Toxin (Striving to Catch Up, Keep Calling for Monthly Votes!)
Amid the roaring of the Tyrannosaurus, the table-like object was hurled out, smashing through a hole in the wall and landing in the courtyard outside. By now, the bodyguards of the Xu family were already in disarray; most had been battered during the initial intrusion, some left with broken bones and bloodied faces. The wild gunfire had done nothing to harm the monster’s hide—instead, it provoked a violent assault that nearly killed several men on the spot.
The few remaining bodyguards shouted from afar, some busy calling for the police, others frantically seeking backup. Unable to find Xu Junior in the dining room, the Tyrannosaurus ignored Chen Xiao, who was embedded in the wall, and strode out, crashing through the wall into the courtyard. Immediately, the sounds of chaos—squawking chickens and barking dogs—rose outside.
Chen Xiao, pinned in the wall, suddenly heard Bai Cai’s voice beside his ear. He was startled. As the monster rushed out, he felt a small, warm hand grasp his own, tugging at him, trying to pull him from the crater in the wall. Yet, looking around, he saw no one.
Was Bai Cai… invisible?
Sure enough, Bai Cai whispered anxiously, “Now’s not the time to talk. Wait here, I’ll find something to pry you out.” Her voice then grew sharper: “Why are you just standing there? Go find a tool!”
Then, Xu Junior’s voice floated through the air: “Ah? Ah! Yes, yes!” He, too, was nowhere to be seen—was Xu Junior invisible as well?
Chen Xiao witnessed a strange scene: the twisted steel bar, left on the floor by the Tyrannosaurus, rose into the air seemingly of its own accord and floated toward him.
Suddenly, Bai Cai appeared, her hands gripping the steel bar, sweat streaming down her face as she tried to wedge it between his body and the wall. Xu Junior, finally visible, stood beside her, looking bewildered.
“You’re useless! Come help!” Bai Cai strained, but the monster’s brute strength had wedged Chen Xiao so tightly in the stonework that her efforts were futile.
Xu Junior snapped to, muttered something, and hurried over to take the steel bar, struggling mightily to free Chen Xiao from the wall.
Chen Xiao’s whole body was aching, bones throbbing with pain. He was entirely drained of strength. Though he possessed some abilities, he couldn’t help but feel dejected; every time he met an opponent with supernatural powers, he was tossed about like a child.
And Bai Cai…
“I can turn invisible,” she said quietly, her expression somber, her voice low. “I’ve always been able to.”
“This isn’t a safe place,” Bai Cai suddenly perked up, saying urgently, “Who knows if that monster will come back…”
“Right!” Chen Xiao forced himself to rally—he hadn’t expected the Black Knight to actually target Xu Junior, and this Tyrannosaurus was no less terrifying than the last time Autumn Ruin appeared.
Just then, a thunderous roar erupted from the courtyard. The three turned pale—it was the Tyrannosaurus!
Heavy footsteps approached rapidly. Chen Xiao was so weak he could barely stand, let alone run. Xu Junior hoisted him onto his shoulder, but the monster was already outside the wall—there was no time to escape.
“Hold my hand!” Bai Cai bit her lip and spoke resolutely. Without hesitation, she grabbed Chen Xiao and Xu Junior, the three huddling together in the corner.
The Tyrannosaurus burst through the wall, glaring at the spot where Chen Xiao had been wedged. Finding it empty, he roared furiously: “Cunning brats! You escaped! Where are you?! Where are you?!”
Chen Xiao’s expression was odd—he, Bai Cai, and Xu Junior stood barely two meters from the wall, less than ten paces from the monster, yet it couldn’t see them.
Truly invisible!
He held Bai Cai’s hand, feeling it drenched in sweat. Looking up, he saw a strange expression in her eyes and beads of sweat pouring from her brow.
Something was wrong with Bai Cai.
Chen Xiao’s heart sank.
The giant Tyrannosaurus raged, resorting to outright destruction. He was a human wrecking machine—terrifying strength, an iron-hard body, like a tank rampaging through the mansion, smashing walls and hurling fists, the sound of collapsing masonry echoing throughout. The expensive furniture was obliterated under his iron fists; nothing remained intact.
In moments, countless walls were destroyed. The building groaned under the strain, with the screech of twisting steel beams—a mansion afflicted like a fevered patient, shuddering in its foundations.
“The house is going to collapse!” Chen Xiao realized first. Xu Junior caught on and hurriedly dragged Chen Xiao outside, but Bai Cai’s face was ghastly pale—when he gently tugged her, she nearly collapsed. Alarmed, Xu Junior grabbed Chen Xiao with one arm and Bai Cai with the other, using all his strength to stagger through the shattered wall.
They barely made it a dozen steps before a thunderous crash erupted behind them. Rubble and broken glass flew, dust billowed into the air.
Behind them, the mansion worth hundreds of millions had collapsed!
Swept by the dust, the three tumbled to the ground in a heap. Bai Cai groaned in pain, her knees scraped and bleeding beneath her skirt, blood trickling down her pale legs. Xu Junior, breathless, tore a strip from his bathrobe to wipe away the blood, pushing Bai Cai and Chen Xiao into a flowerbed for cover.
“Is the monster dead under the rubble?” Xu Junior whispered, peering out from the flowers. Chen Xiao knew better—his body was abnormally tough, bullets couldn’t pierce his hide, and even Chen Xiao’s own strength couldn’t harm him. The house collapsing was nothing but a tickle.
Sure enough, a mound rose from the ruins, a low growl followed, and two broken walls were shoved aside. The monster climbed up, shook his head, and grinned wickedly: “Hahahahaha!”
Xu Junior’s legs went weak, and he shrank back into the flowerbed.
A woman’s voice called out from a distance, scolding: “Tyrannosaurus! What are you doing?! If you crush the target, you’ll ruin everything—can you take responsibility?”
From afar, a figure dressed as a servant walked toward them. As she approached, her facial muscles twisted, transforming into the poisonous beauty, Alice!
Her disguise skills were truly masterful.
Tyrannosaurus, however, seemed unimpressed. He growled discontentedly: “You woman, stop bossing me around! I don’t need you to teach me how to do things!”
Alice snapped, “I’m asking you! You smashed the house, tore down walls, caused such a ruckus—and the target slipped away right under your nose!”
Tyrannosaurus retorted angrily, “And you? What did you do, woman?”
Alice cursed, “Idiot! Autumn Ruin put me in charge, and you ignored my orders!”
Tyrannosaurus was clearly wary of Autumn Ruin; he grumbled but did not rebut her.
“Finding them is more important!” Alice, a seasoned supernatural, was sharper than the brutish Tyrannosaurus and quickly deduced, “I suspect there’s a supernatural adept skilled in disguise or escape among them! Hmph! You only know brute force—didn’t you notice any details?”
She paced, sniffed the air, her eyes brightening as she looked down and saw a spot of blood on the ground, along with a strip of cloth—just what Xu Junior had torn from his robe to wipe Bai Cai’s wound. Nearby, a trail of messy footprints led toward the flowerbed.
A sinister smile curled on Alice’s seductive face as she approached the flowerbed, sneering, “Will you come out on your own, or should I force you out?”
The three youths inside shivered with fear.
Alice, hands clasped behind her back, walked to the flowerbed without barging in. She bent down, inhaled the scent of a blooming flower with a dreamy expression—then, the flower instantly withered, its red petals yellowing and falling away in moments, leaving only a bare twig.
“Don’t make me poison you, children. Come out nicely,” Alice said with a syrupy smile, her gaze cold as a serpent’s.
Chen Xiao sighed, glanced at Bai Cai and Xu Junior, and smiled bitterly, “Well, it seems we have no choice. We’re no match for them.”
He was the first to speak, smiling wryly, “Alright, we’ll come out. No need to poison the flowers—let’s not harm nature.”
The three staggered out, faces dusty and clothes torn from the fight. Bai Cai’s face was ashen, leaning heavily on Xu Junior as if she could barely stand. Xu Junior, a bit more composed, declared loudly, “Who are you people? If this is a kidnapping, name your terms—but don’t hurt my friends!”
Alice looked at him, “Hmph, such loyalty.” Then her gaze fell on Chen Xiao, a playful smile appearing, “Pretty boy, now you’re in my hands. You ruined my plans last time—did you expect to fall into my grasp?”
Chen Xiao snorted, saying nothing. The monstrous Tyrannosaurus grabbed all three, charging out of the ruined mansion. The Xu family estate was built atop a mountain in K City’s scenic, prestigious area. Many wealthy families had homes on the slopes, but the Xu family claimed the summit. Tyrannosaurus dragged his captives, not following the mountain road, but plunging straight into the wilds. His enormous frame and iron-hard body tore through the forest like a living battering ram, smashing through tree trunks without slowing.
He barreled through the mountain, emerging on the other side, where a heavy truck was parked along a deserted road. The three were shoved into the cargo hold. Before boarding, Alice approached Chen Xiao with a sly smile, “You’re strong—if you try to smash your way out, that could be troublesome.”
Her eyes flashed maliciously as she suddenly leaned in and kissed Chen Xiao’s lips.
He was already weak, unable to resist, and his mind went blank. He felt a soft, delicate tongue swipe his lips, leaving a faint sweetness.
But then, his whole body stiffened, and he collapsed backward with a thud—every muscle turned to stone, unable to move even a finger.
Only one thought echoed in his mind: saliva… poison!
