Chapter Forty: Sending You All to the Afterlife Together
Damn, is that the 'Black Stripe'—one of the most venomous snake monsters? High Wind cursed under his breath, “And it’s not just a black stripe snake, but a mutated 'Two-Headed Black Stripe Snake'? It's nearly growing horns, almost becoming a flood serpent.”
The members of the Fire Hammer Squad all drew sharp breaths; this thing was not to be trifled with!
“A black stripe snake on the verge of becoming a flood serpent must be a high-level beast general, close to lord level!” High Wind said, his expression grave. “And as a mutated two-headed black stripe snake, its venom is even more potent than a normal one! It has two venom sacs, each worth twice as much as those of a regular black stripe snake of the same grade.
This two-headed black stripe snake is worth the equivalent of four single-headed black stripe snakes! A black stripe snake nearing flood serpent transformation is valued at around four hundred million, but this mutated one could sell for one point six billion! That’s comparable to an ordinary low-level lord monster.”
High Wind’s words made everyone’s hearts race… After fighting for over ten days and slaying more than a hundred beast generals, none of those could match the value of this single two-headed black stripe snake! Clearly, hunting powerful monsters pays far better.
“A quasi-lord level, huh? Interesting. I’ll go have a look.” Luo Yuan said, lifting his Blood Shadow Battle Saber with interest.
“Luo Yuan, are you confident?” High Wind asked him earnestly.
“I think so,” Luo Yuan replied, somewhat ambiguously.
“Senior Luo Yuan, let me come with you,” Luo Feng spoke up.
Luo Yuan glanced at Luo Feng’s eager face and nodded. Luo Yuan wanted to confront this two-headed black stripe snake mainly because he suddenly remembered a lucrative opportunity.
Luo Yuan and Luo Feng hurried downstairs, heading straight to where the two-headed black stripe snake was located.
A deafening roar sounded, followed by the piercing hiss of a snake echoing from afar.
The two quickly closed in, arriving at the corner of a residential building. Peering around it, Luo Yuan immediately spotted the two-headed black stripe snake locked in battle with three men, about tens of meters away. Judging by their appearance, the men seemed to be from West or South Asia—slightly curled hair and dusky skin.
The leader was a bald, muscular man wielding a more than three-meter-long dark golden staff, swinging it constantly.
“Impressive staff technique,” Luo Feng couldn’t help but praise. “That bald guy must be a high-level warrior. The other two are mid-level warriors.”
Luo Yuan did not rush to act, for the key player had yet to appear.
The two-headed black stripe snake was frenzied, its two enormous heads with icy eyes chilling all who looked upon it, repeatedly opening their bloody maws to strike. Under its attacks, the three men retreated rapidly, conversing among themselves. Listening to their exchange, they turned out to be Indians!
“Senior Luo Yuan, should we intervene?” Luo Feng asked.
“You go ahead,” Luo Yuan answered calmly, leaving Luo Feng somewhat puzzled and unsure of Luo Yuan’s intentions. Nevertheless, he joined the fray.
Watching Luo Feng and the three Indians besiege the snake, Luo Yuan spread out his spiritual force, instantly gaining control over everything within a kilometer radius.
Back in the abandoned apartment building, High Wind and his group observed Luo Yuan’s actions through binoculars, feeling highly perplexed.
After about ten minutes, Luo Yuan seemed to sense something, a smile appearing at the corner of his mouth.
He appeared instantly at the center of the two-headed black stripe snake, drew his saber, and swung it. The second stage of the Ninefold Thunder Blade technique unleashed a tremendous blade light, powerful enough to challenge a mid-level war god. The earth split open, extending forward, and under the terrified gaze of the snake, the blade light cleaved it in two. The shockwave shattered its internal organs, and the residual force collapsed a nearby ten-story building.
Dust billowed as Luo Yuan, amidst the stunned stares of the others, sheathed his saber with elegance. He walked over to the snake’s corpse and began harvesting materials.
The snake was massive, making the process arduous. Luo Feng rushed over to help, while the three Indians awkwardly stayed back, realizing the snake was out of their reach. All they could do was place their hands together in a gesture of respect before swiftly departing.
While Luo Yuan and Luo Feng collected materials, nine human warriors were approaching.
Upon arrival, they instantly recognized the value of the snake’s carcass—at least over a billion. This immense fortune sparked greed in many eyes.
Luo Yuan glanced coldly at the nine warriors. Among them were the six members of Tiger Fang Squad, an elderly man, a tall, burly white man, and a young man of mixed heritage.
“Hahaha, not bad! My first time in City 003 and I stumble upon such a fine prey. Hand over the materials from this beast, and you two may leave unharmed,” the mixed-race youth said arrogantly to Luo Yuan and Luo Feng.
The old man and the white brute stood on either side of him, their eyes coldly fixed upon Luo Yuan and Luo Feng.
The Tiger Fang captain sneered, “If you know what’s good for you, step aside. Our Thunder Squad might spare your lives, otherwise… well, don’t blame us. Oh, this is Elder Liu, our Thunder Squad captain. And this is Mr. Karon, our vice-captain—both are high-level warriors.”
Elder Liu was the old man, and Karon was the white brute.
Luo Yuan and Luo Feng finished harvesting the snake’s materials. Watching Tiger Fang Squad’s posturing, Luo Yuan curled his lip in disdain.
“Tiger Fang Squad, I told you before that the next time we met would be your end. Didn’t expect it to come so soon. Since that’s the case, I’ll send you all off!” Luo Yuan said coldly.
“Hahaha, just you? Elder Liu, Mr. Karon, please teach him a lesson,” the Tiger Fang captain said, sidling up to the two, trying to curry favor. Yet neither paid him any mind, their cold gazes sizing up Luo Yuan.
“Our young master’s words—did you not hear? Hand over the materials from the beast!” Elder Liu barked.
Luo Yuan’s eyes turned icy.
“What, you have objections? My parents are war gods, and I’m the nephew of the clan leader of the Polenas family—one of the nine great families of the HR Alliance. Have you considered the consequences of defying me?” The mixed-race youth, Li Wei, pointed at Luo Yuan and Luo Feng, his attitude utterly arrogant.
Tiger Fang Squad members watched with mocking smiles, eager for drama.
“So much nonsense. Since that’s the case, I’ll send you all to the afterlife together!”
Luo Yuan dug at his ear, and with a thought, six nine-series flying knives shot out. Before the nine could react, the blades pierced their skulls, brains and blood spraying everywhere. With a series of thuds, nine corpses collapsed, dead beyond saving, their expressions frozen on their ruined faces.
