Chapter Ninety-Two: The Great Slaughter
Inside the inner world, at the allied encampment.
“Your Highness, the Three Axe Mountain army has already left the camp,” a bodyguard reported respectfully.
“Set out.”
With a cold smile, Brolin gave the order. The spacecraft rose at once and shot away through the void, rapidly pursuing the Three Axe Mountain army. On this trip he had gained almost nothing at all, and now he was preparing to rob the treasure holders from Three Axe Mountain.
How could the Three Axe Mountain army’s speed compare with that of a cosmic spacecraft?
In the control room of the spacecraft, the Ninth Prince, Brolin, stood before the console, with eight bodyguards behind him.
“Master, the distance to the Three Axe Mountain army is sixty thousand kilometers.”
An electronic voice sounded from the console screen. “Contact will be made imminently. Twenty thousand kilometers, ten thousand kilometers, five thousand kilometers. The spacecraft is slowing down...”
“Scan the Three Axe Mountain army and confirm the positions of the twelve key targets,” Brolin ordered.
“Yes, Master.” The detection range of this D8-class spacecraft was a full two hundred thousand kilometers; it easily detected everyone in the Three Axe Mountain army. The electronic voice continued at once: “The Three Axe Mountain army totals 78,503 people. The twelve key targets are located at...”
A vast virtual screen appeared inside the ship.
On it, the mighty army could be seen in full array, with twelve points of light among them. On the left side of the screen, twelve portraits appeared as well, including two cosmic-level experts and several squad commanders. There was even a portrait of Luo Yuan.
“Use three D6-class laser cannons to bombard their army and throw it into chaos. Do not attack those twelve. They all have treasures, and their intelligent optical brains may well contain passwords. It would be a pity to destroy them.”
“Then assign twelve men to use laser rifles and eliminate those twelve one by one.”
“And afterward, in the ensuing disorder, drop in the troops and swiftly seize their belongings. Especially their intelligent optical brains,” Brolin said coldly.
“Yes!”
The eight bodyguards replied respectfully.
Although Brolin had only brought nine C2-class laser rifles at the outset, when the two-million-strong army entered the inner world, he had brought quite a few more. Now gathering twelve was indeed easy.
“Go!”
Brolin’s voice was restrained, but excitement flickered in his eyes.
......
The vast Three Axe Mountain army flew through the sky, and Luo Yuan and the other thirteen mixed among the crowd, chatting and laughing as they traveled, in an excellent mood.
“Third Brother, with this haul, we won’t have to worry about lacking money even if we cultivate all the way to the domain lord level,” Thunder God said with a grin.
“Don’t get carried away,” Hong said with a smile.
Yet Luo Yuan suddenly sent a warning through thought transmission: “Everyone, be careful. Babata’s detection instruments have picked up... there should be a large-scale scanning system probing us.”
“A large-scale scanning system?” Hong, Thunder God, and the others were startled.
“That’s right,” Luo Feng also nodded in confirmation, his expression grave. “Everyone, be careful.”
After thinking it over, Luo Yuan, out of caution, took from his storage ring the only four fifth-tier force armor suits he had. He handed three of them to Luo Feng, Hong, and Thunder God, and quickly put on the fourth himself.
“You should wear them too. This fifth-tier force armor is defensive equipment qualified only for world lord-level experts,” Luo Yuan reminded them.
Luo Feng, Hong, and Thunder God hurriedly put on the armor.
As Luo Yuan and the others became vigilant, the entire Three Axe Mountain army was still filled with noise and laughter, with voices of discussion all around.
“Boom!”
“Boom!”
“Boom!”
Three streaks of dark light suddenly fell like three black holes into the Three Axe Mountain army. Luo Yuan and the others felt as though the whole world had fallen silent in an instant. Without warning, they only saw the impact point in the distance erupt in violent tremors. Hundreds of ninth-tier star level experts there were instantly reduced to nothingness. Then the visible shockwave from the blast spread in all directions. Wherever it passed, large numbers of soldiers were shaken to death, blood spurting from the visors of their battle helmets.
At first the shockwave made no sound at all, slaughtering everything within nearly a hundred meters around the impact point. Only afterward did it become a thunderous roar, causing many adventurers to vomit blood and suffer grievous injuries. Even six of the ten ninth-tier star level servants Luo Yuan had brought were lost.
Just one volley.
Thousands died, and this was partly because the army was so densely packed.
“Poof!”
Immediately after, twelve beams of white light descended from the sky!
In an instant, they struck twelve people in the Three Axe Mountain camp, including the two cosmic-level experts, several squad leaders, and Luo Yuan as well.
Poof. Poof. Poof. Poof. Poof. Poof. Poof. Poof. Poof. Poof. Poof. Poof.
Twelve beams of white light.
On the spot, eleven people fell. Luo Yuan, however, was enveloped by a vast surge of force and spiritual power that blocked the white beam’s impact, standing steady and unmoving, without even needing the fifth-tier force armor.
“So the laser rifle that can instantly kill cosmic-level first and second stage fighters really doesn’t work on me,” Luo Yuan thought. He had already tested it in the slaughter arena before, though he had never experienced it himself.
“Old Third! Are you all right?” Hong, Thunder God, and Luo Feng all came back to themselves.
“I’m fine. That should have been twelve C-grade laser shots just now. The other eleven people from Three Axe Mountain, including the two cosmic-level first stage fighters, were all shot dead. Looks like it was the work of that so-called Ninth Prince,” Luo Yuan said, coldly glinting in the eye.
“What!” Luo Feng, Hong, Thunder God, and the others were astonished, looking around them.
“Rumble...”
As though heaven and earth were splitting apart, a massive cosmic spacecraft suddenly appeared in the sky. At the same time, the bottom of the ship automatically opened, and a large number of adventurers clad in identical black battle armor poured out from the split hull, diving downward in twelve orderly columns like a gale surging toward the ground. Meanwhile, beams of laser fire swept in all directions into the Three Axe Mountain camp, throwing the entire army into chaos.
“Hold them back!”
“Kill them!”
“They’re from Black Dragon Mountain!”
“Kill!”
Roars erupted all across the Three Axe Mountain camp. Although thousands had died, nearly eighty thousand of these men had all survived the brink of life and death. Even under such a fierce and frenzied ambush, they still quickly regained their footing.
In the sky, inside the control room of the spacecraft, the Ninth Prince Brolin stood coldly as he watched everything below with perfect clarity through the external scene projection.
“Your Highness! Those twelve were hit by laser rifles. Eleven are dead, and one is still alive,” a bodyguard reported hurriedly.
“One survived? Who is it?” Brolin asked.
“The twelfth target,” the bodyguard answered.
“Oh?” Brolin raised his brows. “I remember him. That boy who also has a spacecraft. Send a unit to kill him and take back the treasure!”
......
Below, the nearly eighty thousand-strong army was struck by one bombardment from three D6-class orbital cannons, then by the repeated beams fired from twelve laser rifles. In particular, the two thousand elite soldiers led by Brolin split into twelve detachments and charged fiercely into the chaotic army, forcing the Three Axe Mountain forces to desperately block them.
The twelve elite detachments, fearless in the face of death and with laser rifles clearing the way, sent eleven groups to retrieve the belongings of the eleven shot dead, while another force chased Luo Yuan and the others.
On the ground of the inner world:
“This Brolin is truly ruthless,” Luo Yuan muttered, clearly smelling the blood reeking through the air all around him. In the distance lay one piece of armor, boot, and helmet after another scattered on the ground. Inside those suits and boots were fragments of flesh, white bone, or chilling pools of blood.
