Chapter 131: The Origin of the White Bones (Part II)
"You..." Little Kiki was taken aback.
Clearly, the other party had not finished speaking.
"Hmph!"
He withdrew his hand with a pout and continued, "Then you go on—where did the rest of the bones come from?"
Yin Shiqi smiled and said as he walked, "As I mentioned before, the birth rate of psychics among the Jamir clan is very high. These people are well-suited for training, and they are often seen among the ranks of the Saints."
"As far as I know, the previous Cancer Gold Saint, who also served as the Pope, Sage, hailed from the Jamir clan."
Upon hearing him mention this, Little Kiki’s expression turned remarkably grim.
Seeing this, Yin Shiqi became even more certain that his deduction was correct. He continued, "The Gold Saints of Cancer have always been adept at communicating with souls and can enter and exit the Yomotsu Hirasaka at will."
"I once had the fortune to visit that place; it was covered in dry bones and restless spirits."
"Coincidentally, when I passed through the Cancer Palace a while ago, I asked Lord Deathmask about the origin of the countless spectral masks within the palace."
"Lord Deathmask told me that, aside from a small number of enemies he had slain himself, the rest of the masks were crafted from spirits captured from the Yomotsu Hirasaka."
During the North American expedition, Yin Shiqi had not contributed much personally, but the Crateris Cloth he possessed had been a great help. Deathmask owed him a favor, and when faced with his inquiry, he naturally told him everything he knew.
Yin Shiqi glanced at the piles of bones beneath the narrow, suspended path and said earnestly, "By the same logic, there are so many bones here that it is impossible they were all enemies killed in battle."
"Then, the source of these bones is quite clear."
"I suspect they were brought back from the Yomotsu Hirasaka by the former Pope and Cancer Gold Saint, Lord Sage!"
"Is my deduction correct, Little Kiki?"
Having said this, he looked at the little boy with a playful glint in his eyes.
Little Kiki pursed his lips and said helplessly, "Mostly correct, but you got one detail wrong!"
"Oh?"
Yin Shiqi was slightly startled, wondering what he had overlooked.
Seeing his puzzled expression, Little Kiki, feeling he had regained some ground, said smugly, "Lord Sage was the Pope; he didn't have the leisure to go to the Yomotsu Hirasaka and carry back so many bones."
"These bones were brought back from the Yomotsu Hirasaka by Lord Sage’s twin brother, Lord Hakurei, the former head of our Jamir clan!"
Hearing this, Yin Shiqi couldn't help but rub his temples.
He only remembered that the previous Cancer Gold Saint was Sage, but he had forgotten one thing: Sage had a twin brother named Hakurei who was equally qualified to wear the Cancer Gold Cloth.
In fact, it was Hakurei who had yielded the Cancer Cloth to Sage. The two brothers shared a deep bond; although they wore different cloths, their techniques were identical. What Sage could do, Hakurei could do as well.
Sage had always remained in the Sanctuary, rarely venturing out, while Hakurei had always guarded Jamir, secretly preparing for the Holy War.
Therefore, the one who transported these bones could only have been Hakurei, who kept watch in Jamir.
"Alright, I guessed wrong!"
Yin Shiqi shrugged, took the ring off his left hand, tossed it to Little Kiki, and added, "But I wasn't entirely wrong. You can only borrow the Cloth for one week!"
Having assumed he had lost his chance, Little Kiki was overjoyed that the other party was still willing to lend him the Cloth.
"Since you’re so generous, I won't take advantage of you. I’ll go tell Mr. Mu later to help you reinforce your Cloth!" he said, patting his chest magnanimously.
Shun looked at the little boy with anticipation and asked weakly, "Little Kiki, could you..."
In the end, he was too shy to finish his sentence.
Yin Shiqi guessed what Shun was thinking and immediately said to Little Kiki, "Why don't you have Mr. Mu reinforce these Cloths that Shun brought as well?"
"This..." Little Kiki hesitated.
Seeing his troubled expression, Yin Shiqi asked in surprise, "Is there some inconvenience?"
Little Kiki sighed and said, "Reinforcing a Cloth requires extra materials."
"A while ago, many people came to the Sanctuary to have their Cloths repaired, and we’ve already exhausted most of our reserves."
"To ensure we can handle future repairs, I’m not sure if Mr. Mu would be willing to consume more materials."
Hearing this, Shun waved his hands quickly, saying nervously, "If that's the case, then I don't need any extra reinforcement! I only ask that Mr. Mu help repair the Cloths!"
He did not want his own "selfish" request to cause Mr. Mu to waste materials, potentially leaving future Saints unable to have their Cloths repaired.
Yin Shiqi looked at the little boy in astonishment. "Does that mean you can't even guarantee Mr. Mu will help me reinforce my Cloth?"
Little Kiki looked aggrieved and muttered, "At worst, once I learn the technique to reinforce Cloths, I'll just do it for you myself!"
As he spoke, the ring in his hand slowly expanded.
Having lost the support of Yin Shiqi’s Cosmo to maintain its transformation, the silver ring gradually turned back into a silver Cloth Box.
"So it’s the Crateris Cloth?" Little Kiki lifted the box with psychokinesis, observing it as he spoke.
As the chosen successor of Mr. Mu, and in preparation for repairing Cloths in the future, he had long since memorized the details of all eighty-eight Cloths. Therefore, he recognized the Cloth inside at a glance from the relief on the box.
Meanwhile, Yin Shiqi was left between laughter and tears by Little Kiki’s promise.
Little Kiki was only about five or six years old; heaven knows when he would finish his apprenticeship, or if he would even be around to see that day.
"Alright, let's get moving!"
Helpless, he urged them on to relieve his own frustration.
Little Kiki, carrying the Crateris Cloth box, led the way happily, guiding the two of them along the long, winding stone path.
About five minutes later, a stone tower nearly ten meters high appeared at the end of the road.
The tower was built on the edge of a cliff. The cold wind whistled through the spire, adding a sense of gloom to the already frigid highland environment.
"We're here!" Little Kiki pointed at the stone tower and shouted happily.
"Is it just you and Mr. Mu here?" Shun asked in a low voice as he walked behind.
Looking around, aside from the lonely stone tower, no other buildings or signs of life could be seen.
"Yes, just Mr. Mu and me!" Little Kiki used his psychokinesis to carry the box, hopping toward the tower.
"But didn't Senior Yin Shiqi say you all came from the Jamir clan? Could it be that your clan has been reduced to just the two of you?" Shun asked, finding it hard to believe.
"You really know how to joke!"
Little Kiki looked back at him, rolling his eyes, and said, "This place is bitter and cold; it is the training ground for our clan. Aside from practitioners like Mr. Mu and me, ordinary people simply cannot survive here."
"Our other clansmen are all down the mountain, living among the local residents!"
The high birth rate of psychics in the Jamir clan was only in comparison to ordinary human society. In reality, within the clan itself, psychics were rare, and the vast majority were ordinary people.
And he was the only psychic in their generation.
