Because Kurumada never designed the concept of subordinate and superior Cloths, it's something I've created myself, so please don't get hung up on why Capricorn's subordinate would be the Crater Cloth. It's simply because I like it, haha... If you're interested, feel free to imagine what the subordinate versions of the twelve Gold Cloths might be. Also, the techniques and the characteristics of the Cosmo are completely different concepts. Never rely on techniques to determine the direct relationship between superior and subordinate Cloths.

For example, take the Perseus Cloth, which uses the petrifying shield. According to myth, Perseus and Andromeda are husband and wife, while Cepheus and Cassiopeia are Andromeda's parents, meaning Perseus's father- and mother-in-law. Among these four Cloths, the Silver-ranked Perseus and Cepheus are most appropriately considered the superior Cloths of Andromeda and Cassiopeia. If you judge the hierarchy of Cloths solely by weapons and attack methods, it doesn't quite fit for this family of four. Or do you feel it's better to separate them?

Moreover, Shun of Andromeda often uses chains, but his true killing move is the "Nebula Storm." This technique closely resembles Mu of Aries's "Stardust Revolution." Yet, when Shun faced Death God in Elysium, he wore the Virgo Gold Cloth.

Isn't that unexpected? No matter how you look at it, you probably feel Virgo and Andromeda don't really match, right? Their only commonality is their feminine names—a maiden and an Andromeda, haha... What I want to tell you is that techniques and skills are all acquired through personal cultivation, but these don't determine the traits of one's Cosmo.

Take Hyoga of Cygnus, who uses freezing techniques—if he stopped training in ice and focused on something else, could he still wear his teacher's Aquarius Cloth? The answer is yes! Because his Cosmo's characteristics are innate and naturally compatible with Aquarius. Even if he forced himself to learn fire-based skills like Ikki, Cygnus and Aquarius would still suit him best; he couldn't wear Ikki's Phoenix Cloth.

Another example is that battle against Death God in Elysium. Ikki wore Aiolia's Leo Gold Cloth, which has nothing to do with fire. No one would have expected him to wear that, right? Of course, assigning Phoenix as Aquarius's subordinate is rather illogical, since their attributes obviously clash. Cygnus and Aquarius are a much better fit.

As for my choice of Crater as Capricorn's subordinate, that's based on the legends. According to myth, Capricorn originates from the god Pan, who had goat horns, ears, and hooves. At Zeus's banquet, when the monster Typhon attacked, the gods panicked and transformed to escape. Pan intended to turn into a fish to flee, but the water was too shallow, so only his lower half changed—resulting in a fish tail and a goat head above. Later, to save his beloved harp nymph, he returned, carrying her into the cursed lake and lifting her high. Because of the curse, Pan became half-fish, half-goat forever, unable to return to his original form. Out of respect, Zeus placed Pan's image in the sky as Capricorn.

So Capricorn isn't purely a goat, but goat above, fish below. Because of Capricorn's unique connection to water and fish, I chose four fish and the Crater Cloth as its subordinate. A little secret—"Southern Fish" is actually part of "Pisces." Here, I assigned Southern Fish as Capricorn's subordinate, which isn't really reasonable, but never mind; I'm too lazy to change it, and Yin Seventeen won't wear the Southern Fish Cloth anyway. As long as everyone enjoys themselves, don't take things too seriously—seriousness takes all the fun out of it.
