Chapter Eighty-Four: Suspected Master God
There is only one energy outlet, and no energy discharge channel,” Mayura said to Yin Shizhi after withdrawing her telepathic force and reining in her inner cosmos.
“Impossible. If there is no outlet, how is the energy transmitted?” Yin Shizhi asked, puzzled.
“There is only one answer.”
Mayura paused, then said, “They used spatial power to transmit the energy across space.”
“That makes sense. It is the only reasonable explanation. Unfortunately, if we want to trace the energy route back to its source, that is no longer possible,” Yin Shizhi said with a regretful shake of his head.
Energy transmission must have a point of origin.
At first, all they needed to do was follow the transmission path.
Regrettably, their opponents had not left behind such a simple flaw.
At that same moment, Mei Yi and the others also returned after finishing their search.
“Report to the two lords: all heretic god fighters have been slain. None escaped!” Mei Yi said respectfully.
“Good.”
Mayura gave a small nod, then ordered, “Rest here for a moment. I have urgent matters to report to Lord Aldebaran.”
With that, she had already sent her telepathic force far away to central North America, to the position of the three Gold Saints.
“Lord Aldebaran, in the heretic gods’ stronghold we found the pyramids they use to gather the earth’s energy, and we also discovered traces of energy transmission.”
“It seems that energy was sent back to their divine realm lair. We only do not know what they intend by gathering so much of it.”
In central North America, atop a towering mountain peak, Aldebaran folded his arms and replied through telepathy, “Earlier, Rigel of the Hunter reported the same intelligence.”
“Based on the analysis Camus, Deathmask, and I have made, there are only two reasons the heretic gods would gather so much energy.”
“First, to construct a divine passage. Second, to cultivate heretic god fighters.”
“So when you sweep through the heretic gods’ strongholds and find pyramids, be sure to destroy them all. Leave none behind.”
“Understood.”
Mayura answered solemnly and withdrew her telepathy.
On the mountain peak, Camus said with some concern, “The North American heretic gods have gathered so much energy that it is more than enough either to cultivate fighters or to build a divine passage.”
“And what exactly are you trying to say?” Deathmask asked lazily from where he lay on the ground.
It was not yet time for the full assault, so they could only monitor the movements within the heretic gods’ domain. He found it all rather dull.
Camus lowered his gaze to him and said gravely, “Cultivating fighters is one thing. Mere energy infusion cannot create a fighter who has awakened the Seventh Sense.”
The Seventh Sense is a realm that can only be reached through personal enlightenment; it is not a top-tier force that can be manufactured by force-feeding and rapid cultivation.
“I know that pure energy infusion cannot produce a Seventh Sense fighter. I only want to know what exactly you are trying to say,” Deathmask said, rolling over and propping his head on one hand.
Camus said seriously, “No matter how many Sixth Sense fighters the heretic gods cultivate, it means nothing to us.”
“But what if they use all this energy to build a divine passage? What then?”
A divine passage is a road meant for deities to traverse; different gods may call it by different names, but its function is the same.
If the heretic gods from beyond the heavens wish to enter this world, they must build a divine passage.
Hearing this, Deathmask’s eyes widened. He sprang up from the ground and said grimly, “The stronger the deity, the higher the requirements for the divine passage.”
“And the North American heretic gods cannot possibly be ignorant of the fact that Sixth Sense fighters are of little use to us, so they will surely devote most of the energy to constructing the divine passage.”
“To draw energy from the whole of North America in order to build it... just how powerful must this heretic god be?”
By then, cold sweat had already broken out on his forehead.
“By my estimate, a divine passage constructed in this way could at least allow a chief deity to pass through,” Camus said worriedly, gazing into the distance.
“A chief deity?”
Deathmask was startled and said, “Then does that not mean the North American heretic god may be on par with deities such as the goddess Athena, Hades the Pluto King, and Poseidon the Sea King?”
Among all the Olympian gods, there are some deities so powerful that they are called chief gods. Hades, the mortal enemy of the Sanctuary, is a classic example.
Deathmask had never imagined that the North American heretic god might be so formidable.
“And what of it? Are you frightened already?”
Aldebaran gave him a cold glance, then turned to look at the land shrouded by the heretic gods’ domain and said with resolve, “No matter how powerful the enemy, I, Aldebaran, will not retreat a single step!”
“That is the duty bestowed upon us by the goddess Athena: to drive out evil gods and safeguard the peace and justice of the earth!”
Sensing the weight of the Taurus Saint’s words, Camus quickly added, “The North American heretic god may indeed be strong, but as long as we stop him from descending into this world through the divine passage, that is enough!”
With their strength, opposing a chief deity was simply unrealistic. But if they only needed to prevent the other from descending in person, they could avoid such a worst-case scenario.
“Yes, we only need to stop him from coming down!” Deathmask gave a dry laugh, and his heavy mood eased somewhat.
Aldebaran did not answer him. Silently, he sent his telepathic force to the positions of the Saint of the Charioteer and the Hunter, informing them of the requirement to destroy all pyramids.
Meanwhile, after relaying the results of their investigation, Mayura set out once more with Yin Shizhi and the others, beginning another carpet search.
Soon, they found the second heretic god fighter stronghold.
The fighters stationed there were considerably stronger overall than those at the previous outpost, and one of them had even reached the lower end of Silver Rank.
However, in the presence of Mayura’s Silver Rank peak strength, that lower-ranked Silver fighter was still no match at all.
The instant Mayura landed, she punched him to death along with several Bronze-level heretic god fighters beside him.
And those heretic god fighters who had luckily evaded her fist still could not escape.
Yin Shizhi landed immediately after her and swiftly dealt with the remaining stragglers.
As before, after a careful inspection and the destruction of the pyramid, the group wasted no time and set out to search yet again.
At the same time, within the heretic gods’ domain in central North America, a man wearing feathers in his headdress and a beast-skin robe arrived before a massive pyramid.
“Report to the Guardian: nearly ten of the pyramids collecting energy outside have already been destroyed!” The newcomer knelt facing the pyramid and shouted toward its summit.
He was responsible for contacting the various strongholds and constantly checking on their situation.
Just moments earlier, in less than five minutes, he had lost contact with nearly ten outposts.
At the top of the pyramid, a woman with golden wavy hair impatiently waved a hand and said, “I know. The Saints of the Sanctuary have come.”
“Tell the outposts below to accelerate energy gathering. We are still about thirty percent short of the energy needed to build the gate of time and space.”
“When the goddess descends, this entire continent will belong to us, utterly and completely.”
