Chapter Eighty-Seven: One Peach, Three Men (Part Two)
The hunched Dark God fighter glanced at his companion and said coldly, “What, did you actually believe what that brat said, and now you’re thinking of turning on us?”
As he spoke, he took a couple of steps back, putting some distance between himself and the bespectacled man.
Seeing this, the tall fighter also retreated a little, his wary intentions plain to see.
“Turning on each other? You two are really underestimating me!”
Having guessed what his companions were thinking, the bespectacled man let out a cold snort and said, “Starting a fight among ourselves before we have even dealt with the enemy is the stupidest thing we could do!”
“Then what do you propose?” the tall fighter asked impatiently.
The bespectacled man looked toward Yin Seventeen, the corner of his mouth curling upward.
“Didn’t he want to hold us here all by himself?”
“Then let’s give him that chance!”
“Whoever kills that brat first gets the credit. What do you say?”
The hunched fighter thought it over and nodded. “Fine. That sounds good. Fair enough.”
“Then it’s settled, as you said,” the tall one agreed with a nod as well.
As for Meyi and the three Bronze Saint, they were utterly ignored.
So long as they dealt with the Silver Saint before them, those three little Bronze Saints would be as easy to handle as drinking water or eating a meal. There was no need to hurry.
“Then I won’t stand on ceremony!”
The moment his two companions nodded in agreement, the bespectacled man suddenly burst forward at top speed.
“Despicable!”
“Damn it!”
The two of them cursed loudly and hastily burned their cosmos to chase after him.
But the three of them were evenly matched in strength. Miss a single step, and they would be left behind at every step.
All they could do was watch helplessly as the credit that had been “within easy reach” was about to be stolen from them, while they were powerless to do anything about it.
The distance between the two sides was not great—only a dozen meters or so. In the eyes of a fighter, it was a distance covered in the blink of an eye.
The instant his target entered striking range, the bespectacled man threw his punch.
“Die, brat!”
“So fast!”
Yin Seventeen was shocked. Before he could even prepare, the other man was already in front of him.
Though the bespectacled man’s combat power as an upper-tier Silver Saint was somewhat inflated, his speed and strength were genuine, far beyond Yin Seventeen’s by several times.
Unable to evade, Yin Seventeen could only barely raise his arms to try to block the attack.
Unfortunately, the bespectacled man was far too fast. The instant he sensed Yin Seventeen’s intent to defend, he changed his move on the spot, shifting his fist slightly so that it scraped past Yin Seventeen’s arm and landed squarely on his chest.
Bang!
A fist moving at nearly six hundred thousand times the speed of sound came crashing down. An unimaginable and dreadful force slammed into Yin Seventeen’s body, and it felt as though his flesh would be torn apart the very next second.
The agony was so intense that he could not even breathe, much less groan.
Boom!
He was sent flying like a rag doll.
“Lord Seventeen!” Meyi and the others cried out in alarm.
By the time they reacted, Yin Seventeen was already lying on the ground.
“No need to rush. You’re next,” the bespectacled man said, glancing at the three of them, though he still made no move.
He had already claimed the credit for taking down a Silver Saint. If he now also seized the three Bronze Saints, the other two companions would surely turn on him.
A man had to know when to stop.
Unfortunately, his restraint did not mean Meyi and the others would simply ignore the enemy before them.
Seeing Yin Seventeen fall, they could no longer heed his earlier warning and each unleashed their own strongest techniques at the bespectacled man.
“Heavenly Whirlpool.”
“Meteor Pursuing the Moon.”
“Jade Spear Thrust.”
Unfortunately, whether it was Meyi’s water dragon vortex, Ruolan’s meteor, or Fei’s thrust, none of them had any effect at all.
The bespectacled man gathered his cosmos into his right hand and, with a casual wave, shattered all three attacks and sent the three of them flying.
Had he not been wary of the other two companions and unwilling to provoke a falling-out over the credit, that one strike would have been enough to obliterate the three Bronze Saints.
“They’re yours,” he said, turning back to the two companions who had just arrived and giving them a magnanimous smile.
“Hmph!”
Seeing that Yin Seventeen was no longer moving, the two of them had no choice but to snort in frustration and turn their attention to the three Bronze Saints.
Meyi and the others quickly got to their feet, already resolved to die.
Facing three Dark God fighters at the upper-tier Silver Saint level, they had no chance whatsoever.
“In that case, then...” The hunched fighter extended his right hand toward the three of them.
At that very moment, a weak voice came from the ground.
“I’m not dead yet... Have you all given up on my share of the credit?”
The few of them looked over and saw Yin Seventeen slowly, inch by inch, rising from the ground.
“Making a move against the three of them could mean missing out on my credit, you know.”
Suppressing the searing pain in his chest, Yin Seventeen said with a strained smile that was not quite a smile, while once again using his telekinetic power to warn Meyi and the others not to act.
The bespectacled man’s fist had been terrifying. A blow at nearly six hundred thousand times the speed of sound had completely deformed his breastplate, leaving a deep fist imprint behind.
Beneath the Saint Cloth, several ribs had been broken, and even his lungs had been shaken and injured.
Fortunately, the Sagittarius Cup Cloth contained a miraculous substance known as Moonlight Nectar. Quietly, he ordered the Cloth to release the nectar from within, pouring it into his wounds and rapidly mending his injuries, which was the only reason he had not lost his fighting ability entirely.
“You’re still alive?” The bespectacled man was astonished.
“Isn’t it just perfect that I’m not dead? Right, you two?” Yin Seventeen signaled meaningfully toward the other two Silver-class Dark God fighters.
With the protection of his Silver Saint Cloth and the offsetting power of his own cosmos, an attack of that level could only seriously injure him; it still was not enough to kill him.
“That’s right, that’s right! Since you’re not dead, that’s perfect!” The hunched fighter withdrew his hand from its aim at Meyi and the others, a look of relief appearing on his ugly face.
He had another chance to seize this credit!
“Since you didn’t die just now, then die again!”
At that very instant, the seemingly calm bespectacled man burned his cosmos to the limit and hurled a furious strike at Yin Seventeen from afar.
“Sunburst Fist!”
In an instant, his fist blazed with dazzling light, and the power of his cosmos transformed into a blinding sphere of light that shot straight toward its target.
“Don’t even think about it!”
The tall fighter, already once burned by the same trick, remained wary of the bespectacled man. The moment he saw the attack, he used the same move to stop it.
“Sunburst Fist!”
Another blinding sphere of light appeared on the battlefield and slammed into the first.
Boom!
The two spheres exploded together, and the tremendous shockwave that erupted sent Meyi and the other Bronze Saint fighters flying.
“Many thanks to you both!”
Taking advantage of the opening, the hunched fighter, who had also been keeping his guard up, rushed out.
“Your life, I’ll take it, brat!” He looked at Yin Seventeen, now close enough to touch, and revealed a triumphant smile.
“Dark Sun Fist!”
He concentrated his cosmos into his fist and struck at Yin Seventeen with a black sphere of light.
