Chapter 158: Fierce Battle with the Savage Deviljho
Down below, Zhao Han continuously swung his greatsword, shaving off roughly 30,000 HP from the boss with every strike while simultaneously drawing its aggro. Nearly every single one of the boss's counterattacks dealt 70,000 to 80,000 damage to him, and had there not been a massive rear guard of healers, this guy would have already been sent back to the main mainframe long ago.
With several thousand healers casting spells simultaneously, Zhao Han’s lost health was instantly replenished. At this moment, his HP bar remained completely full, while the boss's HP slowly ticked downward, now dwindling down to just over two million. Finally, the boss seemed to realize it could not go on like this; it let out a deafening roar and its entire body instantly turned crimson. A sense of foreboding washed over me, and in the next moment, I saw it clearly—this brute wasn't trying to kill players anymore; it was charging straight for the city walls!
"Boom!"
Another section of the city wall collapsed instantly. Surviving players tumbling down from the battlements caught sight of that gigantic skull less than five meters away from them, letting out a chorus of terrified screams. Some immediately turned and fled, while others were so petrified they sat frozen on the ground, and a few even started crying out to deities like Guanyin. At a time like this, forget about Guanyin; not even the Buddha, Christ, or Jesus could save you. The only one who could save you was yourself!
"Boom!"
A thick, heavy tail swept violently across the city wall, causing yet another section to crumble. Panic gripped my heart. Dammit, if it destroys all the city walls like this, what defense will we have left?
I immediately ordered Dragon War to descend rapidly while breathing out a torrent of dragon breath. On the other side, Guardian also commanded the Mechanical Tyrannosaurus to attack. The two summoned beasts charged through the air, catching the Devil Jho completely off guard. Following closely on the ground, Yanhuang Tianbing and A Jian Jue Chen lunged forward. The Devil Jho whipped its head around, slamming A Jian Jue Chen away, while Yanhuang Tianbing was savagely seized in its jaws. Its interlocking steel teeth crunched audibly, and fresh blood instantly stained the gaps in the Devil Jho's teeth and mouth.
"Aah—" Yanhuang Tianbing shrieked in agony. He had been bitten clean through, body and limbs alike, by the Devil Jho, dying instantly without the slightest chance to resist. Meanwhile, A Jian Jue Chen, who had been knocked flying, recovered in a split second. The longsword in his hand was no longer the Thunderous Sword, but a different blade wreathed in black flames. With a sudden burst of speed, he lunged forward and drove the sword straight into the Devil Jho's left eye with pinpoint accuracy.
This blow shaved off nearly a thousand HP from the Devil Jho. "Roar—!" The beast howled, throwing its head back and instantly flinging A Jian Jue Chen away. Yet the moment he hit the ground, A Jian Jue Chen popped back up with a carp kip-up. Thrusting both hands forward, he unleashed a bolt of lightning and a torrent of flames respectively, which intertwined and instantly swept across the Devil Jho's entire body.
Immediately after, Dragon War and the Mechanical Tyrannosaurus simultaneously delivered heavy, bone-crunching punches to both sides of the Devil Jho's face.
The Devil Jho let out a sudden, shrill roar, shaking off Dragon War and the Mechanical Tyrannosaurus. Its body leaped high into the air before slamming viciously back down onto the ground. "Boom—!" The earth-shattering impact sent dirt and stones flying everywhere, instantly gouging out a massive crater several miles wide.
This single strike nearly buried all the remaining players. Had Dragon War not flown up in the nick of time, it would have been buried alive too. "Rustle, rustle—" Surviving players scrambled to their feet from all directions.
"Roar—!" The Devil Jho let out an enraged bellow, violently sending any players foolish enough to challenge it flying through the air.
In a blind fury, the Devil Jho spun around, its overwhelming and unstoppable force instantly collapsing the belly of a player's summoned beast that had lunged forward. The beast vomited a mouthful of blood, its elephant-sized body instantly pitching sideways and crashing down.
Next, elite players like Phantom Moon and Fiery Phoenix charged forward from the ground. Fiery Phoenix maintained her mobility while rapidly drawing her large purple bow to loose a barrage of frantic shots, and Summer unleashed a relentless volley from her bootleg rocket launcher.
Little Rookie transformed into his green giant form, stretching out a pair of green hands to grab the Devil Jho by the neck while roaring at the top of his lungs, "Quick! Attack quickly! I'll pin it down!" "Screech, screech, screech!" Thick green branches and leaves grew wildly, sprouting directly from the Devil Jho's neck.
Following that, Purple Moon's Hellish Flame Fiend materialized, instantly melting the ground beneath it with its hands. The earth transformed into a sea of molten lava. As the magma seeped into the soil, a web of glowing fissures tore open across the surface. The roaring magma began to surge and churn, and with the snapping of the sandy ground, concentrated clusters of magma erupted frantically from the cracks. In an instant, they engulfed the entire area, followed by a chain of massive, deafening explosions.
Trapped right in the center of the blasts, the Devil Jho suffered continuous HP damage, yet it still struggled violently. With a mighty heave, the Devil Jho yanked Little Rookie right in front of it, clamped its gaping maw around his head, and cleanly bit it off. It then spun around, bolted out of the sea of lava created by the Hellish Flame Fiend, and unleashed another breath of black flames that swallowed the flame fiend whole. Seeing the Hellish Flame Fiend's HP constantly flashing and plummeting, Purple Moon immediately recalled it.
Right after, Dragon War and the Mechanical Tyrannosaurus charged toward the Devil Jho. Instead of dodging, the beast charged straight at them head-on. Dragon War moved faster than the Mechanical Tyrannosaurus, taking the brunt of the Devil Jho's collision. The impact sent the Gatling Tyrannosaurus flying, and I was sent airborne right along with it. The next moment, I felt myself crash into something warm. Opening my eyes, I realized I had slammed directly into Guardian. She was knocked flying by the impact and pinned right underneath my body. I scrambled up and backed away in a hurry. At this moment, Guardian's face was flushed red with a look of pure fury as she snapped, "Weiwei Dragon! That hurt like hell when you plowed into me!"
A wave of awkward discomfort washed over me. I looked back and saw the boss glaring right at me with its massive, fiery red eyes. With a helpless sigh, I scooped Guardian up into my arms. "What do you think you're doing?!" she screamed. Ignoring her, I used "Side-by-Side in Battle" to instantly recall the sent-flying Gatling Tyrannosaurus and took off running!
The boss didn't give chase, as it was once again pinned down by Dragon War and the Mechanical Tyrannosaurus. "Hurry up and put me down!" "Got it!" I set Guardian down. Her face was flushed with a mixture of shyness and lingering anger as she stared at me and hissed, "You... you took advantage of me again! You're washing my clothes from yesterday after we log off!"
I grinned and said, "If you let me hold you a little longer, how about I wash your clothes for the whole week?"
"You jerk!" The adorable mix of bashfulness and rage crossing Guardian's cute face was, to be honest, utterly charming.
With that, Guardian summoned her Battleship Dragon and charged straight back into the fray against the boss. The Gatling Tyrannosaurus and I followed closely behind. Just then, a streak of golden light darted toward the boss. With a sharp "bang," a spinning dizziness icon instantly appeared above the boss's head!
That's the guy! Zhao Han had stunned the boss, and in the same breath, carved a deep gash into its neck. Seeing this, I immediately ordered the Gatling Tyrannosaurus to provide covering fire while I activated "Thousand-Mile Wings." Relying on a burst of speed that made me nearly invisible to the naked eye, I hurtled straight onto the boss's body, landing right at its neck, and drove my Cold Light Sword directly into the gap between its scales!
Little did I know, the boss's reflexes were equally sharp. Before I could even twist the blade, it violently whipped its head around and threw me right off!
Spotting Amaterasu approaching just then, I immediately ordered her to mount the Fire Wyrm and attack the open wound!
With a sharp cry, Amaterasu leaped onto the Devil Jho's back, pulled out her Storm of Blood, and began forcibly prying apart the scales at the back of the boss's neck before tugging with all her might!
Clearly, whether this was the boss's weak spot or not, it was never going to allow anyone to rip off its scales. Unfortunately, given the spot where Amaterasu had landed, no matter how hard the boss thrashed, it couldn't reach her and could only whip its neck around in a frantic frenzy!
Amaterasu drove the Storm of Blood deep between the scales to anchor herself as the boss thrashed wildly, roaring in furious rage. Using her dual blades, she pried up scale after scale, endlessly repeating the process to continuously harvest the boss's HP.
Flying into a rage, the boss spun around violently. A loud shriek rang out as Amaterasu was shaken loose and thrown off. I instantly recalled her to prevent her from dying. Right after, the Devil Jho unleashed its black breath attack once more, sending a flurry of high damage numbers flashing across the surrounding area. Panic gripped me; I ordered Dragon War to take to the skies while utilizing the tail-end of the speed boost from Thousand-Mile Wings to retreat rapidly!
As the Devil Jho finished its attack, I noticed fresh blood slowly oozing from the spot where Amaterasu had ripped away the scales. Excellent—Amaterasu had made a massive contribution. Next, I saw Purple Moon's silver giant eagle glide over the boss's head, and a figure leaped down from its back. It was none other than Crimson Lotus. She drew her two-meter-long nodachi; at this moment, the blade glowed a deep, dark red, wreathed in a layer of purple flames. Landing squarely on the Devil Jho's neck, Crimson Lotus slashed through the air, coating the beast's neck wound in a layer of purple fire before driving the nodachi straight into the gash!
—5552! A damage number floated into the air.
Ha! True enough, stripped of its scale protection, the boss's defense plummeted drastically. The boss felt the agony acutely—it was like being bitten by an obnoxious mosquito right on the neck, and it began twisting its neck frantically in an attempt to shake Crimson Lotus off! By this time, the rest of the players had also launched a fierce assault, unleashing a barrage of magic and arrows, hacking away with swords and axes. Unfortunately, the boss's attention was locked entirely on the threat at its back, leaving it no mind to care about the others. It simply flicked its tail and swatted them far away!
After Crimson Lotus landed several more brutal slashes to the Devil Jho's neck, the beast spun around furiously, looking as though it wanted to make a run for it. Gritting my teeth, I roared at the top of my lungs, "Dragon War, Amaterasu, Sonic Werewolf, Gatling Tyrannosaurus—all of you, on it! We cannot let this boss escape!"
At this point, the boss was acting like it was in heat, completely berserk as its skills flew everywhere. One careless move could easily make you its next victim. Fortunately, the surrounding player squads had mostly been scattered, though the NPC was fighting valiantly. Since the boss's attention wasn't on him, he managed to land quite a few extra axe blows!
Countless damage figures floated above the boss's head. Its millions of HP were now whittled down to a mere few tens of thousands, throwing the already agitated boss into an even deeper frenzy.
With a violent shudder, the boss shook Crimson Lotus off its back, threw back its gaping maw in fury, and clamped its jaws shut on the ground. When it lifted its head back up, a purple-armored arm was wedged right in the corner of its mouth, still tightly gripping a two-meter-long nodachi!
Could Crimson Lotus have actually been eaten just like that?!
