Chapter 110: Abducted
Chen Yiyi was momentarily stunned. “An agreement? What agreement? Didn’t we already sign one before?”
Shen Zhuyun rarely allowed even the faintest smile to touch her lips, but now she did, her voice gentle as she said, “This is an agreement for the company. It states that the pills you provide—the ones you called whatever they were—may be supplied exclusively to our Xinzhu Company. In other words, if you dare provide them to any other company connected with cosmetics, our company will have the right to sue you!”
Chen Yiyi rubbed his nose. “You don’t trust me? You’re afraid I’ll give the Heavenly Fragrance Pills to someone else?”
“So that’s what those pills are called—Heavenly Fragrance Pills. Not bad. Don’t worry. By signing this agreement, you’ll also become a shareholder in the company. Naturally, the company won’t treat you unfairly. Sign it now.”
Shen Zhuyun pushed the agreement toward him.
Chen Yiyi shook his head, picked up the pen, and signed it without hesitation.
“Can you stop being so serious about everything? You’re my wife. Why would I give something beneficial to your company to someone else?”
“Did you already forget what I just said?” Shen Zhuyun glared at him, then folded the agreement away with satisfaction. “Even brothers keep clear accounts between them. Besides, our relationship is entirely fake!”
Chen Yiyi gave a bitter smile, rendered speechless. Only with this woman did he ever feel so helpless.
“Hand it over!” Shen Zhuyun suddenly extended her hand.
“What now?”
“The Heavenly Fragrance Pills. You’ve signed the agreement. Surely you aren’t still planning to hide them from me?”
Chen Yiyi nodded speechlessly. “You really are a capable president—nothing gets past you.”
With a flip of his hand, a square brocade box appeared in his palm. He had prepared the container beforehand. Inside were fifty Heavenly Fragrance Pills. He actually had more than a hundred and had originally intended to hand them all over to Shen Zhuyun, but for the sake of caution, he decided to give her only fifty for now. Besides, that amount would be more than enough to keep the company’s production and sales running for quite some time.
Shen Zhuyun let out a startled cry. “Where did that box come from?”
Chen Yiyi raised one eyebrow. “Didn’t you know I can perform magic?”
Shen Zhuyun shot him a look and could not be bothered to indulge him. She opened the box and glanced inside. Instantly, the entire room filled with a rich, intoxicating fragrance.
Startled, she hurriedly closed the box and locked it inside her safe.
“Are you satisfied now?” Chen Yiyi asked, spreading his hands.
“All right. There’s nothing more for you to do here. You can leave.” Shen Zhuyun nodded with satisfaction.
Chen Yiyi was once again rendered speechless and could only let out a long sigh. A rather inappropriate curse even flashed through his mind, but in the end he said nothing. He did not return to the Marketing Department either, instead leaving the company at once.
He had more or less solved some of the problems facing his wife’s company, and saw no reason to remain there. Besides, he knew that certain people were still plotting behind the scenes. Until those people were dealt with, he would not be at ease.
As soon as he stepped out of the company building, a van screeched to a halt in front of him.
Several burly men jumped out of the vehicle and, without a word, dragged Chen Yiyi inside.
“Keep still!” one of the thugs warned him before the van sped away.
Chen Yiyi obediently stayed where he was. It seemed that whatever he thought about came to pass. He had been worrying about how to find those people, and now they had delivered themselves straight to him.
He smiled faintly, leaned back against the seat, and closed his eyes to rest.
The thugs were taken aback. They had expected him to resist, in which case they would have punched him a few times. But this man was far too compliant—not only had he made no attempt to fight back, he had not even changed his expression. They could not understand him at all.
Still, they were happy to have things easy and were spared the effort.
Unfortunately for them, the scene had just been witnessed by Lei Lei, who had finished buying feminine supplies downstairs.
She watched as Chen Yiyi was hauled into the van, which then sped away in an instant. The items in her hands fell scattered across the ground. She did not even stop to pick them up before running to find Shen Zhuyun.
“What did you say? He was taken away?” After hearing Lei Lei’s breathless account, Shen Zhuyun sprang from her chair.
“Yes, President! We should call the police at once, or Mr. Chen could be in danger.” Lei Lei braced herself against the desk. She had run too hard and could barely remain standing.
Shen Zhuyun, however, quickly regained her composure. If the police could have helped, those people would never have dared act so brazenly.
Then she suddenly wondered whether this might have something to do with Wei Jiadong. Rather than call the police, it would be better to contact Wei Jiadong directly and find out what he wanted.
“Lei Lei, don’t tell anyone about this for now. You’re not feeling well, so go home and rest.” Shen Zhuyun glanced at her and noticed the considerable blood staining her trousers. She had evidently begun her period and had not even had time to take care of herself before rushing over to report what had happened. Shen Zhuyun felt rather grateful to her. After all, Lei Lei had come running because she was worried about her “husband.”
“Why? Do you know who did it?” Lei Lei’s eyes widened.
“Trust me. He’ll be fine.” Shen Zhuyun spoke solemnly. “Leave this matter to me. Go home and take care of yourself.”
Only then did Lei Lei notice her condition. “If you’re so confident you can rescue Mr. Chen, then please call me once you’ve saved him. That way I’ll be able to stop worrying.”
Shen Zhuyun nodded. “Don’t worry. He’ll be fine.”
Seeing the confidence on Shen Zhuyun’s face, Lei Lei finally relaxed. Clutching her stomach, she went to deal with her own situation.
Shen Zhuyun let out an inexplicable sigh. The moment that man had arrived at the company, he had already reduced these young women to such a state. If this continued, even she—the legitimate “Mrs. Chen”—might end up being pushed aside. It seemed that once this matter was resolved, she would have to make certain things public.
She was naturally worried about him as well. But then she remembered the skill he had displayed before her. Ordinary people should not have been able to do anything to him. Still, Wei Jiadong gave her a very strange feeling. After completely falling out with her, he had revealed a side of himself that was far from simple. In a single night, he had severed every one of the company’s business channels. And she could sense that abducting Chen Yiyi was clearly an attack aimed at her.
Without hesitation, she picked up the phone and dialed Wei Jiadong’s number.
“President Shen, you’ve finally remembered me!” Wei Jiadong wore a smug smile on the other end of the line.
“Was the new employee at my company taken by you?” Shen Zhuyun asked directly, not bothering with pleasantries.
“The company’s new employee? When did our company take on a new employee? Why don’t I know anything about it?”
“Stop pretending you don’t know. What exactly are you trying to do? Release him at once!” Shen Zhuyun said coldly.
“Heh heh, Zhuyun, can you tell me what that man is to you? Someone said he was your cousin, but no matter how I look at him, that doesn’t seem right. He’s apparently been to the company before, and he even rode in your car. That gives me every reason to suspect that your relationship with him is far from ordinary.”
“What does that have to do with you? And who gave you permission to call me by my name?”
“Haha, it seems I guessed correctly. But you’re the woman I’ve set my sights on. I can’t very well let someone else have you!”
Wei Jiadong no longer bothered to conceal his intentions. Since none of his schemes had succeeded, there was no need for him to continue beating around the bush.
“Do you know that ever since I saw you, I’ve been deeply attracted to you? I even lowered myself to work at your company, hoping I could gradually win you over. Who would have thought that you would never take me seriously? It hurt me deeply. So now I’m curious—what kind of man do you actually like? Don’t tell me it’s that boy?”
Whenever Wei Jiadong thought of Chen Yiyi, hatred surged through him. The man had appeared out of nowhere and thrown his entire plan into chaos.
“That has nothing to do with you. Release him immediately. Perhaps then we’ll still have something to discuss. Otherwise, I’ll call the police at once!”
“Haha, call the police? You really are imaginative. Do you think I’m afraid? But judging from your tone, you seem to care quite a lot about that boy. Fine, I’ll give you a chance. Spend one night with me, and he’ll be back in front of you tomorrow, alive and well!”
Shen Zhuyun angrily hung up.
But after thinking it over, she called him back.
“I knew you’d call again,” Wei Jiadong said smugly.
“Release him, and I’ll have dinner with you,” Shen Zhuyun said coldly.
“Haha! I’ve never seen a woman bargain with me like this before. But I like it, and I admire your spirit. Deal!”
Wei Jiadong did not mind in the slightest. If they could have dinner together, he could naturally turn that into countless other things they might do together.
Women were usually very conscious of their dignity. Being too blunt might indeed be unbearable for them, so it was better to be as tactful as possible.
At the same time, however, a deep hatred for Chen Yiyi continued to churn in his heart. He had spent so much time on his plans, yet kidnapping this boy had produced results in mere minutes.
Release him? Certainly—once he was dead.
