Chapter 122: Devoured by Destruction
Seeing their branch leader reduced to a headless corpse, the disciples of the Medicine King Sect were filled with grief and indignation, yet they were completely unable to move a single muscle.
"Chen Yuyi, you dare to kill our Medicine King Sect's branch leader! Don't think you'll be leaving here alive today!" Elder Ye, watching the scene from the top floor, was consumed by absolute fury.
At that moment, three piercing, shrill howls erupted. The kneeling disciples behind them looked on in terror as three humanoid monsters, their exposed muscles twitching like robotic machinery, lunged forward and tore their heads clean off.
"So, three monsters have appeared?" Chen Yuyi tilted his head, a playful smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.
The three monsters bit anyone in their path, turning the scene into a bloodbath. Although the disciples were trembling uncontrollably, they remained paralyzed, forced to watch helplessly as their companions—or they themselves—became food for the beasts. In an instant, the area was littered with blood and severed limbs.
Several deacons standing beside Elder Ye nearly vomited at the sight. Yet, Elder Ye watched with satisfaction, completely indifferent to the fact that those being slaughtered were his own disciples. He muttered to himself, "Devour. Only by devouring can your power surge."
Indeed, after consuming the limbs of the fallen, the three monsters’ power grew exponentially. Their bodies swelled to nearly double their original size, and their behavior became increasingly frenzied.
Moments later, the hundred-odd disciples had all met their demise. The courtyard cleared, leaving only Chen Yuyi standing alone. He watched the three "medicine-men" warriors with interest as they finished their slaughter. Suddenly, all three warriors jerked their heads toward him in unison.
"Finished at last?" Chen Yuyi stretched his limbs while eyeing the three predators. "It’s time to end this farce."
He raised an eyebrow, ready to strike, when a bizarre scene unfolded: the three warriors suddenly collapsed to the ground, convulsing violently as if they had ingested a lethal poison.
"What is going on?" Elder Ye’s aged eyes bulged wide.
"Elder, what is this..." one of the deacons began to ask, but—
*Pfft!*
Elder Ye nearly spat out a mouthful of blood. He shrieked, his voice cracking, "Why? Why is this happening? We worked so hard for so long—why did this experiment fail?"
The three so-called medicine-man warriors had dropped dead without Chen Yuyi even lifting a finger. He felt a sense of profound disappointment.
"Go! Seize that mother and daughter! Call the machine-gun squad and provide cover for our retreat!" Elder Ye finally sensed the danger. He knew they were utterly helpless against Chen Yuyi; even if he stepped in himself, it would be a death sentence. With their branch's greatest trump card turning into a pathetic joke, his only thought now was to flee. Fortunately, he had a backup plan.
The deacons understood immediately and scattered to carry out his orders.
Chen Yuyi looked up at Elder Ye on the top floor. "Do you have any other tricks up your sleeve?"
"Don't get cocky, boy. I was just careless this time. Do you think this is all we have?" Elder Ye tried to maintain his composure, even as he instinctively took several steps back.
Soon, the deacons returned, dragging Yuan Xiang and the young girl, Little Rabbit. Given their elite status, they moved with remarkable speed. Behind them followed the branch's machine-gun squad. This was Elder Ye’s final resort; he had exhausted all other options, yet Chen Yuyi remained unscathed while their own forces were decimated.
The deacons were powerful in their own right, but after watching their leader’s head be crushed like a watermelon and seeing a hundred disciples subdued into silent submission, they knew fighting Chen Yuyi was suicide. Like Elder Ye, their only desire was escape.
"Chen Yuyi, do you recognize them?" Elder Ye shouted, gripping Yuan Xiang and Little Rabbit by their throats. Having hostages boosted his confidence, though he feared Chen Yuyi might not care. Still, he had to gamble. He believed that even if the machine guns couldn't kill Chen Yuyi, they could at least stall him.
Chen Yuyi’s brow twitched slightly, his face turning frigid. Yuan Xiang looked weak but remained conscious, her eyes filled with surprise and sorrow—a gaze that seemed to plead, *Don't worry about us!* Little Rabbit, however, was drifting in and out of consciousness, likely sick, poisoned, or used as a test subject. She struggled to open her eyes upon seeing Chen Yuyi, but could not.
Chen Yuyi fought to keep his emotions in check. While few things could stir his anger anymore, the state of the mother and daughter pushed him beyond mere rage.
"Let them go, and I might just grant you a quick death." A freezing aura emanated from beneath his feet. Frost began to spread, and the ground beneath him began to solidify.
"Haha! Chen Yuyi, give us the pill formula, and I'll let them go!" Seeing Chen Yuyi’s reaction, Elder Ye felt he had bet correctly. The man truly cared for them. His confidence returned, fixed on his ultimate goal.
The frost under Chen Yuyi’s feet spread like a tidal wave. The blood pooling on the ground froze instantly, and everything nearby turned into a vast, white expanse of ice. Elder Ye’s pupils shrank as he witnessed the phenomenon—this was beyond anything he could conceive. *Is this man even human?*
"Fire! Open fire!" he bellowed.
The gunners immediately opened a barrage of gunfire on Chen Yuyi. Elder Ye took the opportunity to flash away; despite holding two people, he leaped with incredible agility onto a neighboring rooftop. He hoped to escape in the chaos, keeping the hostages as his perceived leverage.
The machine guns spat tongues of flame, filling the air with a hail of bullets and a thick cloud of dust. The entire courtyard was engulfed in a storm of lead.
"Cease fire!"
"Follow me! Focus on cover, don't engage directly!" the deacons shouted, realizing Elder Ye had already vanished. They glanced at the cloud of dust, muttering, "If he doesn't die after that, he's truly not human."
As the dust slowly settled, the scene became clear. Everyone froze. Elder Ye lay on the ground, riddled with holes like a sieve, while Chen Yuyi and the mother and daughter were nowhere to be seen.
"Ghosts!" The gunners dropped their weapons and fled in a panic. They couldn't fathom how Elder Ye, who had been escaping, had suddenly reappeared only to be cut down by their own bullets. It was beyond comprehension.
But before they could run more than a few steps, their bodies suddenly exploded. Blood sprayed like dying flowers. The remaining deacons stood paralyzed.
"Not a single person here will leave alive today!"
Chen Yuyi’s calm voice echoed. He appeared atop the central building, cradling Little Rabbit in one arm and holding Yuan Xiang with the other. He raised his foot and tapped the roof twice.
"Today, I will let you witness my true power."
With that, he vanished. The deacons were still confused when a tremor began to shake the ground. A low, humming vibration rose from the earth, as if an earthquake were imminent. The building Chen Yuyi had tapped suddenly collapsed without warning. The descent was rapid, and soon, every structure in the complex began to crumble.
The entire valley groaned. Massive boulders crashed down, and clouds of dust billowed into the sky like a scene from the apocalypse. Everything was consumed and destroyed.
