Chapter 135: The Black Fire Cat

Chen Yuyi also felt a very dangerous aura.

The dark shadow stood nearly ten meters tall and ten meters long, like a building, looming right in front of him. It looked like a giant tiger, yet its skin was invisible, and its entire body was engulfed in black flames. In its presence, Chen Yuyi felt like an incredibly insignificant speck.

"What is this?" Chen Yuyi’s expression turned grave as he stared at the "tiger" burning with black fire.

"A Black-Fire Cat!" the Dragon King said with great caution. "This is a spirit beast. It possesses not only extraordinary intelligence but also the immense power to commune with the spiritual energy of heaven and earth!"

"That such a creature should appear here means it must be guarding something. Chen Yuyi, subdue it! A spirit beast like this is a rare find even in the cultivation world!"

Chen Yuyi couldn't help but twitch his mouth. He had already exhausted much of his energy dealing with the swarm of fire crows, and the posture of this "Black-Fire Cat" suggested it would not be easy to handle. He even considered asking the Dragon King to step in, though he decided to refrain unless absolutely necessary.

He immediately unleashed his Frost Technique, but as the frost surged toward the beast, it was entirely consumed by the black flames radiating from its body. Chen Yuyi was stunned.

The Black-Fire Cat had been watching him as if he were beneath its notice, but his attack seemed to provoke it. With a thunderous roar, it pushed off its hind legs and leaped, turning into a streak of black light like a sharp blade, pouncing toward the small human.

Chen Yuyi had no time to think. His body transformed into a stream of platinum light as he met the charge with his White Emperor Golden Imperial Slash.

The collision between the platinum light and the massive, jet-black claws of the cat erupted in a blinding flash. When the exchange ended, Chen Yuyi found himself behind the beast, his expression even more serious.

The Black-Fire Cat’s massive front claws trembled slightly. It hadn't suffered any severe damage, but the black flames on its paws flickered, appearing as if they might be extinguished. Its scarlet pupils grew even more terrifying—a sign of rage. It clearly had not expected such a tiny human to be capable of wounding it.

"Roar!"

It let out a low growl, its massive claws scraping against the ground. Sparks from the friction merged with the flames surrounding its body, causing the black fire to burn even more fiercely.

Chen Yuyi dared not be careless, frantically considering various countermeasures.

"Chen Yuyi, don’t say I didn’t warn you. For a spirit beast like this, using the law of the Five Elements’ mutual restriction won’t be very effective. Of course, that’s because you’ve only just entered the Divine Ability Realm and your techniques aren't yet refined. You have only one way to deal with it now: fight for your life. Use every method you have until it submits!" The Dragon King, acting like a casual spectator, tossed out a remark on a whim.

Chen Yuyi rolled his eyes, feeling speechless at the Dragon King’s detached attitude. However, he realized this was a good opportunity to hone his own abilities.

"Silver Snake Sword!" he commanded with a light shout, summoning the blade.

A flurry of silver light darted around the Black-Fire Cat. The Silver Snake Sword struck the beast countless times, yet it remained unmoved, still swathed in its black flames. The damage seemed trivial to the creature, and its eyes appeared filled with mockery.

Chen Yuyi hadn't expected the sword to cause real harm; he was merely trying to distract it. Suddenly, sparks of electricity crackled from his hands, manifesting into a nine-foot-long thunder blade that hummed with a menacing, crackling power. He swung it down toward the beast.

The momentum was far greater than that of his White Emperor Golden Imperial Slash.

"Meow!"

The Black-Fire Cat was knocked back over a hundred meters by the blow, its black flames dimming. It was clear that this attack had caused it significant injury, which only fueled its fury.

"Not bad, not bad! Keep going, keep going!" the Dragon King cheered, fully enjoying the show.

Chen Yuyi was too exhausted to retort. His hands trembled; this thunder blade strike had been a full-power attack that nearly drained him completely. Realizing he couldn't finish off this "little kitten" so easily, he took a deep breath and swallowed dozens of White Sun Pills to replenish his energy. Having scoured the area, he had gathered countless treasures, and these pills were as common as water to him.

The Black-Fire Cat roared again, slamming its front paws into the ground, causing the earth to tremble. It then transformed into a bolt of black lightning, charging toward Chen Yuyi.

But in the next instant, Chen Yuyi’s figure dissolved into a burst of white light and vanished without a trace.

The cat was shocked, and just as it tried to flee, a circular disk rose up and encased it!

Chen Yuyi had burned hundreds of White Sun Pills to activate the Great Luo Star Disk. Facing such a vicious creature, he held nothing back. Fueled by the massive influx of energy, the true power of the disk was unleashed. While it couldn't consume a being as powerful as the Black-Fire Cat, it could certainly restrict its movement, leaving the beast struggling in place.

"The Five Elements don't work on you? I don't believe it. I’ll drown you!" Chen Yuyi declared ruthlessly. Water elements began to gather around the cat, forming a wall of water that quickly engulfed its massive frame.

The Black-Fire Cat struggled frantically inside, clearly terrified of being drowned. A light, relaxed smile tugged at the corners of Chen Yuyi's mouth.

"Not bad, Chen Yuyi. You know how to adapt rather than just brute-forcing it. To think you’d come up with such a method—not bad at all," the Dragon King praised.

Chen Yuyi merely shook his head in silence, knowing this was all part of the Dragon King’s way of tempering him.

As the Black-Fire Cat’s struggles intensified and it showed signs of breaking free, a cold glint appeared in Chen Yuyi’s eyes. "Freeze!"

*Crack! Crack!*

The massive wall of water, held within the Great Luo Star Disk, began to freeze solid. As the ice took hold, the cat’s movements were locked in place.

Chen Yuyi approached the giant block of ice and spoke to the creature trapped within: "I’ll give you two choices. Either submit to me, or I will destroy you along with this ice!"

The Black-Fire Cat could not move, but its eyes were wide open, filled with intense resentment. Chen Yuyi knew that making a spirit beast submit was like binding a magical treasure—it required a blood pact. However, because spirit beasts possessed intelligence, the pact had to be made willingly, or the blood would be useless.

As the resentment in the cat’s eyes slowly faded, Chen Yuyi knew it had surrendered. He dripped a drop of blood, which seeped through the ice and into the beast’s brow. In the next moment, he dispelled the frost. The black flames on the cat retracted into its body, and its size shrank until it was no larger than an ordinary cat.

After casting a glance of lingering resentment at Chen Yuyi, the cat’s expression softened, and it let out a soft, affectionate meow. Once such a spirit beast swore allegiance, its loyalty was absolute.

Chen Yuyi nodded in satisfaction. Suddenly, the Black-Fire Cat scampered into a small cave—a space only accessible now that it had shrunk to its normal size.

Moments later, it emerged carrying a small piece of wood that looked like a splinter. Though the surface appeared rough and coarse, it shimmered with a faint, multicolored luster.

"This is?" Chen Yuyi could sense the object's unique nature.

"This is the Divine Wood of Heaven!" the Dragon King exclaimed in sudden astonishment.
