Chapter 84: The Great Luo Star Chart
As soon as Chen Yu returned to his room, he couldn’t help but pick up the white jade plate and admire it again.
There was something peculiar about this piece of jade, a sensation that subtly benefited him. When he used his spiritual power to probe the plate, he felt a surge of comfort, as if his spiritual force was being nourished, leaving him marveling at the effect.
“Indeed, this is a magical artifact, an authentic one,” the voice of the Dragon King echoed.
“You mean it was crafted by someone on the cultivation path, a genuine magical artifact?” Chen Yu inquired.
“Yes. To be precise, calling it a magical artifact might even be an understatement—it could very well be something superior to that.”
“What do you mean?”
“As I’ve told you before, the lowest grade is called a magical artifact, the next is a spiritual artifact. This jade plate likely belongs to the rank of spiritual artifacts,” the Dragon King explained.
“A spiritual artifact! Something above a magical artifact! That’s excellent—who would have expected the Shen family to possess such a treasure!” Chen Yu was pleasantly surprised. Ever since he’d heard the Dragon King’s explanation of magical artifacts, he’d longed to acquire one for himself. Now, not only had he got one, but it was of a higher grade—a spiritual artifact. How could he not be delighted?
“For now, I can only tell it’s a spiritual artifact, but its exact nature remains unclear. Your luck is extraordinary, to stumble upon such an item in the mundane world—it’s truly remarkable!” The Dragon King flew out and circled the jade plate, scrutinizing it closely.
“Haha, without your Dragon Subjugation Diagram, would I have such luck? Frankly, all that I have is thanks to you,” Chen Yu said sincerely. Without the Dragon Subjugation Diagram, he would have died long ago, so his gratitude was genuine.
“Haha, that’s what I like to hear!” The Dragon King gleefully circled Chen Yu. “As you grow stronger, so do I. There isn’t a cultivator who doesn’t wish for more magical treasures; naturally, I hope you acquire more and more artifacts and spiritual medicines. It seems this mundane world is far more complex than I imagined. If such a spiritual artifact exists, it means other treasures are hidden here as well. You must keep your eyes open and never miss any opportunity!”
“Of course, with your guidance, it’s impossible to miss anything,” Chen Yu replied with a smile.
“For now, focus on refining and bonding with this jade plate.”
“Refining and bonding?”
“Yes. Only by refining and bonding can a magical treasure truly belong to you. I’ve already sprinkled a bit of Forget-Worry Water on the plate, erasing its previous spiritual imprint. You only need to drip your blood onto it, and from then on, it will recognize you as its master.”
Chen Yu recalled the Dragon King mentioning before that it was his own blood falling onto the Dragon Subjugation Diagram that allowed the Dragon King to attach himself to him. Curiously, he asked, “So you’re a magical artifact too?”
The Dragon King burst into hearty laughter. “To be precise, I am the spirit of the Dragon Subjugation Diagram!”
“Artifact spirit? What does that mean?”
“Well, that’s a story for another time. Perhaps, after you bond with this jade plate, you might cultivate an artifact spirit yourself. But that’s for later. Go ahead and refine it with your blood now!”
Without further hesitation, Chen Yu pricked his finger and let a few drops of blood fall onto the jade plate.
The blood seeped into the plate like water, rippling for a moment before vanishing completely.
But then, the jade plate began to change, its color darkening rapidly.
Chen Yu was startled.
“Don’t panic. Let’s observe what happens first,” the Dragon King said, his gaze fixed unblinking on the plate.
Chen Yu calmed himself and watched the transformation.
Soon, the once lustrous white plate became wholly black, but with a faint, eerie glow. The whole room, as the plate darkened, seemed to plunge into night; not even a hand in front of his face was visible, except for the plate, which emitted a dim, ghostly light.
Neither Chen Yu nor the Dragon King moved, both staring intently at the plate.
Suddenly, bright spots appeared on the plate, twinkling like stars.
The number of these points increased, projecting across the entire room, which now felt lit by a sky full of stars.
What amazed Chen Yu even more was the way these stars formed regions, resembling domains in the night sky.
“This is the Da Luo Star Chart!” the Dragon King cried out.
“What? What is the Da Luo Star Chart?” Chen Yu asked, full of curiosity.
The Dragon King was visibly excited, not bothering to explain but exclaiming, “This is a treasure greater than a spiritual artifact, Chen Yu, you’ve struck gold!”
Though Chen Yu didn’t fully understand the hierarchy above spiritual artifacts, the Dragon King’s words made it clear that this jade plate was a treasure that defied the heavens.
The projected stars in the room began to move, forming countless bizarre and wondrous images, leaving Chen Yu utterly astonished.
“The Da Luo Star Chart! ‘Da Luo’ signifies the all-encompassing. Each image it forms represents a world. With this Da Luo Star Chart, you’ll be able to transcend the limits of space and appear in worlds unknown to you!”
The Dragon King paused, then continued, “Of course, it depends on your own power to activate the chart. Even if you reach the Divine Power Realm, you may struggle to unlock its true potential. But don’t lose heart; the path is forged by those who walk it. If you cultivate diligently, the great way will surely open to you!”
Chen Yu fell silent for a moment. So, beyond this world, there were other worlds. The meaning was clear: the Da Luo Star Chart was like a map for a traveler, marking out destinations, but whether one could reach them depended on one’s own ability.
“The Shen family’s jade plate truly is a supreme treasure!”
He gazed at the myriad projections cast by the Da Luo Star Chart, his eyes filled with anticipation. One day, he would set foot in those strange new realms!
“And this Da Luo Star Chart will be immensely helpful for your cultivation of spiritual arts. Combined with the Primordial Spirit Technique, you can draw starlight into your body, use the power of the stars to stabilize your spiritual sea, and your efficiency will be ten times greater, at least! Make good use of it! Furthermore, because it’s a magical treasure, even if you haven’t reached the Divine Power Realm or developed great divine abilities, you can still borrow its strength to perform minor divine arts—those of the Five Elements, wind, rain, thunder, and lightning—just like the practitioners of law in this world!”
“Amazing!” Tears of joy welled in Chen Yu’s eyes. At last, he could wield magical abilities powered by spiritual force. Though they were minor, he would be much stronger than ordinary practitioners—a true leap in quality!
“But don’t get carried away yet. Though the Da Luo Star Chart aids your cultivation and lets you use minor divine arts, it doesn’t supply limitless star power. You must feed it regularly to maintain its efficacy.”
“Feed it?”
“Yes, the Da Luo Star Chart has been neglected for a long time, and its quality may have degraded. Even if you could fully utilize its powers right now, it wouldn’t perform at its original level. Only through long-term nurturing can it gradually recover.”
“How do I feed it?”
“Cultivating a magical treasure is like tending a flower—it needs water and fertilizer. Pure Yang energy is its nourishment, its fuel!”
“Pure Yang energy?”
“Exactly. The White Yang Pill I refined earlier is the most basic Pure Yang medicine. So, besides your own abilities, you’ll need enough pills to sustain your magical treasures.”
“I understand, but that’s only providing energy, not true feeding.”
“Precisely. True feeding is letting it devour—devouring is its fertilizer, which enables it to grow!”
“Devour? Devour what?”
