The shrill blast instantly ruined Lin Kaiyang’s mood. He turned his head impatiently and cursed, “Can’t you see I’m busy? Get the hell out of here!”

As soon as the words left his mouth, the car door opened.

A familiar figure slowly stepped onto the pavement.

It was Ye Tianlin.

“Doing this in broad daylight, as a grown man—aren’t you ashamed of yourself if someone sees you?” Ye Tianlin raised an eyebrow. He had only just returned from the hospital and had happened upon this scene, so naturally he could not simply stand by and watch.

Lin Kaiyang felt even more annoyed and immediately began shouting abuse. “I told you to get lost! Are you deaf? Do you even know who I am?”

“I really don’t know who you are. But whoever you are, it doesn’t seem particularly important to me.” Ye Tianlin shrugged.

Lin Kaiyang glared at him. “Judging by that junk car of yours, you don’t look like someone who can afford to live in Emerald Bay. You’re probably here to visit someone. I advise you not to meddle in other people’s business, unless you want to bring trouble upon yourself!”

“Please, help me!” Zhao Qing cried in terror. Lin Kaiyang’s grip had left both her wrists painfully red.

“Let her go at once, or I’m calling the police!” Ye Tianlin warned him.

“You blind fool. You don’t even know who you’re dealing with. Since you’re determined to get yourself killed, I’ll teach you a lesson today.”

Burning with rage, Lin Kaiyang shoved Zhao Qing into the back seat of his Land Cruiser. He then pulled out a baseball bat, slammed the door shut without hesitation, and swung the bat straight at Ye Tianlin’s face.

The force behind that blow was enough to send a man straight to intensive care.

Locked inside the Land Cruiser, Zhao Qing watched Lin Kaiyang brandish the bat and instantly squeezed her eyes shut. She thought that only someone like Lin Kaiyang could be reckless enough to act with such abandon, never considering the consequences because someone would always clean up his mess.

Yet less than two seconds later, when Zhao Qing opened her eyes again, she saw that Ye Tianlin had caught the baseball bat with one hand.

He looked completely at ease, his stance so steady that he had not even shifted his feet.

Still gripping the bat, Lin Kaiyang stood there in stunned disbelief. He went to the gym every day and occasionally underwent special training. His physique was several times stronger than that of an ordinary man. How could he be unable to deal with some random passerby?

“You…” Lin Kaiyang was speechless.

“Apparently, the management at Emerald Bay isn’t much better. Something like this happens, and no one even comes over. But since you happened to run into me, I’m afraid today is simply your unlucky day.”

Ye Tianlin’s five fingers tightened around the bat. With effortless ease, he wrested it away and swung it backhanded.

Ye Tianlin ignored him completely. He raised the bat and struck Lin Kaiyang across the face.

With a loud crack, Lin Kaiyang collapsed face-first onto the ground and lost consciousness.

Ye Tianlin casually tossed the baseball bat aside, opened the car door, and helped Zhao Qing out. Then he smiled and asked, “Miss, are you all right?”

“I—I’m fine. Thank you so much. May I ask your name? I’d like to buy you dinner and properly thank you.”

Zhao Qing felt as though she were dreaming. Her pupils widened slightly, and everything around her began to blur.

Only the face before her remained clear. In her eyes, Ye Tianlin looked just like a prince charming from a movie, and her heart began to flutter.

“There’s no need to buy me dinner. It was nothing more than a small favor. Just be more careful when you go out in the future. If you run into bad people, don’t get out of your car so casually.”

With that, Ye Tianlin returned to his car and drove away.

“He… he’s unbelievably handsome!”

Holding her breath, Zhao Qing stood there in a lovestruck daze. Her eyes remained fixed on the license plate as she memorized it with absolute determination, wishing she could immediately find out everything about him.
