A short while later, the meal was served. Old Master Su personally opened a bottle of aged wine he had kept for years, drank heartily a few cups, and then began to inquire how Su Yixue and the young master of the Ye family had met abroad.

Naturally, Su Yixue was not about to let such a chance slip by. Right in front of Su Rulan, she boasted extravagantly, recounting every detail of how their relationship had developed from beginning to end, leaving nothing out.

As it turned out, over the past five years, the young master of the Ye family had been studying abroad, coincidentally at the same university as Su Yixue, even in the same major. Due to his unusually prominent background, the Ye heir had concealed his true identity while overseas, even from Su Yixue, using only a foreign-sounding English name. It was only before his return to China that he finally revealed a hint of his true background to her, saying he came from the Ye family and promising a grand surprise.

After hearing the story, the crowd nodded as understanding dawned.

Old Master Su nodded approvingly and said, “It’s perfectly normal to hide one’s identity abroad, given how special his circumstances are. In a foreign land, you’d never know who might be scheming against you.”

Su Yicai mused, “For five years, the Ye family has been announcing to the world that their heir has gone missing—turns out it was all a ruse, just to give him peace and quiet to study abroad without interference.”

Su Yixue, brimming with pride, declared confidently, “Of course. How could the dignified heir of the Ye family just vanish? That’s just to fool outsiders.”

Su Weimin swallowed nervously, hurriedly poured himself a cup of wine, and bent low, both hands presenting the glass as he forced a flattering smile. “Yixue, you’re truly blessed. Let me toast you, and I hope you’ll look after us in the future.”

“Not just anyone is qualified to drink with me now. And do you even realize your own status? In fact, I wouldn’t have even remembered if you hadn’t spoken up—how could your family possibly sit at the same table as me?” Su Yixue showed not the slightest gratitude, her face turning cold.

“What do you mean by that?” Gao Yulan’s heart tightened.

Su Yixue gave a look of utter disdain, her tone imperious. “I mean you’re not allowed to eat at the same table as me. You can only eat in the kitchen!”

“So you’re treating us like servants now?” Su Rulan, unable to bear it, stood up.

Su Yixue set her chopsticks down with an icy clatter, utterly unconcerned. “And if I am? Did I say anything wrong? If you’re not servants, what are you? Or do you still fancy yourselves as someone important? If it weren’t for my connections, you might not even have a meal to eat!”

In an instant, the atmosphere at the table dropped to freezing.

Su Zhengjun, observing the scene, couldn’t help but interject, “We’re all family here, there’s no need to draw such lines. Your uncle is toasting you out of kindness—you should show respect for your elders.”

“Dad, what are you saying? Didn’t you always wish you could drive them all out?” Su Yixue was momentarily stunned, then looked at him in surprise.

Su Zhengjun’s expression was awkward. It was true he’d once thought that way, but now things were completely different—they’d had everything wrong from the start!

Before he could say anything more, Su Yicai, thinking himself clever, stood up, clinked glasses with Su Weimin, and sneered, “Sis, Dad’s just acting, saying the opposite of what he means. You’ve been abroad so long, you probably can’t tell. Come on, uncle, let’s have a drink!”

Instantly, Su Weimin’s face turned from pale to livid. Gao Yulan sat beside him, too stifled to have any appetite. Beneath the table, Su Rulan gripped her pants tightly, her anger boiling over, but she couldn’t afford an outburst.

“No wonder Dad’s reaction was so odd,” Su Yixue said triumphantly. “That’s what he meant. In that case, uncle, hurry and finish your drink—then off you go to the kitchen to eat.”

Rage surged in Su Weimin’s chest, but he had no choice but to swallow it. Gritting his teeth, he drained his glass, then, following their intentions, the three of them took their bowls and chopsticks into the kitchen, watching the cheerful figures in the hall from afar.

“Mom, Dad, I can’t take much more of this. How can Su Yixue be so outrageous?” Su Rulan, clutching her bowl and chopsticks, squatted on the floor—there were no tables or chairs in the kitchen—shaking with humiliation.

Su Weimin sighed and slowly crouched down beside her. “There’s nothing we can do. We’re living under someone else’s roof. If we’re driven out of the company, who knows what could happen.”

“Just bear with it a little longer, Rulan,” Gao Yulan said with a pained expression. “I’m just as furious, but your father is right. Right now, everything we have depends on the Su family business. Don’t forget how Su Yixue has targeted you since you were little—who knows what she’ll do if you stand up to her!”

“We still have to visit the Bishui Bay villa later—I really…” Su Rulan choked up, unable to finish her sentence.

Just then, a furious shout rang out from the hall, catching the attention of all three in the kitchen.

“You idiot, what are you doing here? Who let you in? Get out, right now! As far away as possible!”

The roar echoed through the whole villa.

And the uninvited guest was none other than Ye Tianlin.

“How could I miss such a big event as Su Yixue returning home?” Ye Tianlin stood with his hands clasped behind his back. When he noticed Su Rulan was not at the table, his gaze instinctively swept the room.

As his eyes fell on the kitchen and saw the three of them squatting on the floor with bowls in hand, like beggars, a web of blood burst in Ye Tianlin’s eyes; his mind thundered with rage.

A fury unlike any he had ever known exploded inside him.

The Su family had actually forced his wife—and his in-laws—to squat in the kitchen to eat!
