Chapter Four: A Humiliation Beyond Endurance
The actions of Old Master Su were clearly biased, deliberately excluding them. Rather than kneeling outside and suffering humiliation, it would be better to go to the Tian Capital Chamber of Commerce. Forget about just a villa in the district—Ye Tianlin could move out a mountain of gold and silver if he wished!
Unfortunately, no matter how hard Ye Tianlin tried to explain, his father-in-law and mother-in-law refused to believe him. They even thought he was raving mad to his face. Su Rulan, too, looked utterly hopeless.
Just as Ye Tianlin was about to take out his phone and personally call the Tian Capital Chamber of Commerce to send a car for them, Old Master Su emerged from the villa’s main hall once again.
Leaning on his cane, he spoke sternly, “Don’t say I’m too heartless. I’ll allow you to stay only until next week. If you can’t pay the penalty, you all have to get out!”
Unwillingly, Uncle Su Zhengjun curled his lip. “If it weren’t for fear of being laughed at by the neighbors, the old man wouldn’t have opened the door for you at all!”
Su Yicai opened the door slowly, his tone full of disdain. “After you come in, you’d better mind the cleanliness. Don’t touch anything. If you break something, you’ll have to pay for it just the same!”
“Don’t worry, I won’t cause you any trouble,” Su Rulan nodded, her expression resigned and submissive. Though her heart was full of grievances, she dared not resist.
Su Weimin and Gao Yulan, on the other hand, repeatedly voiced their gratitude, practically eager to kneel in thanks, showing not a shred of dignity as they hurried to gather their things and move inside.
Ye Tianlin had no choice but to follow behind. In the blink of an eye, Old Master Su’s cane swung out, blocking his waist and stopping him cold.
“You’re not allowed in,” Old Master Su said icily.
Su Rulan cried out anxiously, “Grandfather, Tianlin is my husband. Why can’t he come in?”
Uncle Su Zhengjun sneered, “He may be your husband, but the old man doesn’t acknowledge him as a son-in-law of our Su family.”
From behind the door, Su Yicai suddenly picked up a dog leash, twirling it in his hand with a mocking laugh. “Ye Tianlin really can’t come in. But he can be tied up outside. That way, we won’t worry about him running off, and he can help guard the door—two birds with one stone.”
The moment he did this, even all of Su Rulan’s submissiveness couldn’t withstand the humiliation her husband was being subjected to.
“Su Yicai, you’re utterly despicable and inhuman!” Su Rulan cried, trembling with rage.
Su Yicai looked indifferent, grinning. “Am I wrong? Someone like Ye Tianlin is no different from a guard dog. Only you would want to marry such a fool.”
In that instant, not only Su Rulan but Ye Tianlin himself could no longer endure it. Su Yicai wasn’t just insulting him—he was humiliating Su Rulan as well!
“You must have a death wish!” Ye Tianlin raised his hand and slapped Su Yicai hard, knocking him to the ground with such force that blood filled Su Yicai’s mouth.
Caught off guard, Su Yicai fell to the ground, wailing in pain, tears streaming down his face.
Uncle Su Zhengjun’s heart skipped a beat as he shouted, spittle flying, “Ye Tianlin, how dare you lay hands on someone here!”
“I do more than dare to hit someone—I dare to kill!” Ye Tianlin’s eyes flashed coldly, and in a sudden movement, he grabbed Uncle Su Zhengjun by the hair.
Meeting Ye Tianlin’s gaze, the murderous intent in his eyes like a raging beast surged forth, suffocating in its intensity.
“You… you…” Uncle Su Zhengjun was so terrified his whole body tensed, hair standing on end, stammering as he finally realized Ye Tianlin wasn’t bluffing—he truly dared to kill, dared to take his life on the spot!
“Stop!” Su Weimin hurried forward to intervene.
“Ye Tianlin, do you really want to see us thrown out? Isn’t there already enough trouble? Can’t you just behave for once?” Gao Yulan scolded.
Ye Tianlin looked at the pair and said coldly, “After the way they’ve treated Rulan, you as her parents can still tolerate it?”
“This isn’t the time to talk about dignity! Our family’s fate is in the old man’s hands. If you make trouble now, you’re just pouring oil on the fire,” Su Weimin snapped, terrified that their hard-won chance to enter would be lost.
Only then did Uncle Su Zhengjun come to his senses. “That’s right! If you cause any more trouble, none of you will be allowed in tonight. You can all go sleep under the bridge!”
“Tianlin, let it go.” Su Rulan grasped Ye Tianlin’s hand. Though she felt terrible inside, she knew this wasn’t the way to solve anything.
With no other choice, Ye Tianlin released his grip, his face like ice as he stared at the uncle and nephew. “If it weren’t for Rulan, none of you would live to see tomorrow. As for this place, I have no desire to stay here!”
“If you’re not staying here, then where will you go?” Su Rulan asked nervously.
“I’m going to the Tian Capital Chamber of Commerce,” Ye Tianlin replied bluntly.
At his words, Old Master Su let out a mocking laugh. “So you really believe you’re the young master of the Ye family?”
“Better watch your tongue before the wind twists it right off. I think you’ve lost your mind,” Uncle Su Zhengjun grumbled as he helped Su Yicai up.
Su Yicai wiped the blood from his mouth, his face twisted with anger. “Get him out of here!”
Su Weimin and Gao Yulan were furious, veins bulging on their foreheads, cursing Ye Tianlin’s stupidity. At a time like this, he was still spouting such madness.
Ye Tianlin saw no point in talking further. He turned to leave the Su family villa. He hadn’t had time to make arrangements earlier at the Tian Capital Chamber of Commerce, but by tomorrow, he would make the Su family understand the true meaning of regret!
“Tianlin, you can’t leave!” Su Rulan clung to him desperately.
Ye Tianlin softened his expression, patted her hand reassuringly, and said with conviction, “Rulan, just rest here tonight. Tomorrow, you’ll receive my surprise.”
“No, you can’t leave me. I won’t feel at ease if you spend the night alone outside!” Su Rulan insisted, shaking her head.
“What does it matter? It’d be best if he died out there,” Su Weimin sneered, dragging her away and slamming the villa door shut.
“Rulan, come inside with me,” Gao Yulan said, eyes full of resentment as she forcibly led the weakened Su Rulan inside, ignoring her tearful pleas.
One after another, everyone entered, leaving only Su Yicai behind.
Through the closed villa door, Su Yicai spat bloody saliva outside, glaring furiously. “Why are you still standing there? Get lost as far as you can! You’re not welcome here. No fools or dogs allowed inside!”
