After the impromptu meeting ended, Ye Tianlin stepped into the Business Department and immediately caught sight of Su Rulan bowing at a ninety-degree angle, kneeling before Li Jiaojiao. The atmosphere was unbearably tense.

"Ye Tianlin, you’re back just in time! Hurry up and sign the contract—don’t let us delay the Wang family’s business in Yandu!" Su Weimin, frantic with urgency and oblivious to the watching colleagues, grabbed Ye Tianlin by the arm.

Ye Tianlin frowned. As soon as he heard mention of the Wang family’s contract, he instantly understood what had gone wrong.

Before Ye Tianlin could say a word, Li Jiaojiao seized the opportunity to mock him: "Well, if it isn’t Su Rulan’s husband, the famous Ye Tianlin! How did you end up like this? Who would have thought you’d become the General Manager of the Business Department? How impressive!"

Su Weimin, missing the sarcasm in her tone, thought she was simply being ironic. He glared at Ye Tianlin and snapped, "What are you standing around for? Do you want to offend the Wang family and lose your job? Would that make you happy?"

"My good son-in-law, just hurry up and sign the contract!" Gao Yulan was so distraught she was on the verge of tears.

Su Rulan slowly straightened, her expression filled with helplessness. She sighed, "Tianlin, this time, just listen to Mom and Dad. If we suffer losses, the consequences will be serious, and we have no way out."

"Be sensible and sign the contract. Don’t think you’re some big shot now. The Wang family of Yandu doesn’t need to pay the slightest attention to you!" Li Jiaojiao, brimming with arrogance, thrust the contract onto the table and pointed at the blank signature line.

"What are you waiting for?" Su Weimin gestured frantically.

Ye Tianlin’s face darkened. He picked up the contract, tore it in half without even glancing at it, and threw the pieces into the trash. "From the very beginning, I never intended to do any business with you."

A collective gasp swept through the department. Every colleague who witnessed it was visibly shaken.

Su Weimin’s legs nearly gave out from shock. He never imagined Ye Tianlin would do something so reckless, and in his fury, he raged, "You fool! After all the effort we’ve made, you’ve ruined everything! Are you completely insane?"

"How could you tear up the contract? Don’t you realize your personal will doesn’t represent the entire Yunhai Chamber of Commerce, nor the Capital Consortium? Have you given any thought to the consequences? To think I was praising you this morning!" Gao Yulan was aghast, unable to fathom Ye Tianlin’s actions.

"Tianlin, you..." Su Rulan was terrified. Tearing up the contract outright doomed them, certain to incur the wrath of the Capital Consortium.

Li Jiaojiao, instead of being angry, laughed out loud and deliberately raised her voice. "Well, well, it seems you truly intend to harm the interests of the Capital Consortium. Now I must report this to your Vice President Zhang myself. Rest assured, this matter will be escalated immediately. Prepare to be punished!"

"Don’t celebrate too early. The outcome is far from decided," Ye Tianlin replied coldly.

In his assessment, the Wang family of Yandu was seeking to ingratiate themselves with the Capital Consortium by initiating cooperation with the Yunhai Chamber of Commerce. But such a partnership was impossible. This contract had almost certainly been conjured up by Vice President Zhang Kun, who must have accepted a bribe from Li Jiaojiao, and made a private decision without consulting the Capital Consortium.

For the Wang family, the best moment to act was not now, but when they were on the verge of collapse—when their entire operation was about to explode. That would be the true opportunity.

The Ye family refused to work with the Wang family precisely because they were waiting for the Wang family to completely fall apart, so they could acquire all their valuable assets at the lowest possible price.

Ye Tianlin thought with the same business logic.

"Give you a chance? Don’t count on my kindness. Just wait—I'm going to report to your Vice President Zhang right now!" Li Jiaojiao’s face shone with malicious delight as she turned and strode out.

When she had left, Su Weimin and Gao Yulan grew even more anxious and uneasy.

Su Rulan let out a deep sigh, her voice tinged with despair. "It seems we really might be dismissed this time. I don’t know what we’ll do next."

"Don’t worry. Everything will be fine," Ye Tianlin reassured her, patting her on the back.

"Fine? Are you joking? Yesterday Vice President Zhang lost so much face, and now you’ve given him this opportunity—do you really think he’ll let us go? This will be reported straight to the Capital Consortium. He’s sure to make an example of you! You have no sense at all!" Su Weimin ranted.

"If he’s bold enough, he’s welcome to try," Ye Tianlin replied.

"At a time like this, you’re still being so arrogant. I really don’t know how you even landed this position!" Gao Yulan pressed her temples, feeling as if the sky was falling.

Su Rulan, tense and frightened, lowered her head, all her confidence gone, trembling with anxiety.

The situation was dire. Ye Tianlin had only just started this job and hadn’t even had the chance to prove himself before causing such a disaster. Even with the status of the Ye family’s young master behind him, the Capital Consortium might not be so forgiving.

After all, right now, Ye Tianlin was basically just an employee.

Ye Tianlin noticed Su Rulan’s worry and said, "I know it’s hard to believe, but just wait and see—Li Jiaojiao will come back to beg me in the end."
