Chapter 92: The Su Family Panicked
The truth, at long last, had come fully to light.
Ye Tianlin was, beyond a doubt, the true young master of the Ye family.
For the old man of the Su family, that answer was nothing short of a crushing blow.
Before this, the Su family had not only denied it time and again, but had also hurled insults, turning the whole affair into a complete mess, almost as if they had become sworn enemies.
And now, faced with the situation before them, the old man was terrified out of his wits. Cold sweat beaded on his brow, and his whole body would not stop trembling.
Su Yicai, kneeling beside him, was equally stricken with panic. It felt as though the heavens themselves were about to collapse. Clearly, the old matriarch’s personal visit this time was meant to settle accounts with the Su family, and when that happened, no one would escape unscathed.
Su Yixue’s face was full of despair, her heart shattered beyond repair. The long-cherished dream of marrying into wealth and power had now collapsed with a deafening crash, becoming an unreachable luxury, even an object of bitter envy beyond comprehension.
Why should that woman, Su Rulan, be the one to marry into a wealthy family?
Yet no matter how unwilling she was, it was useless. The truth stood right before their eyes, impossible for anyone to deny.
The Su family had simply mistaken the person. It had all been a dream, and now came the moment of waking.
Among them, Su Zhengjun remained remarkably composed. It seemed he had long since anticipated such an ending during these days, and had already prepared himself for it completely.
Sure enough, the old matriarch immediately waved her hand and summoned several bodyguards from outside, plainly intent on venting her anger. She said coldly, “Beat them. Don’t stop until I say so!”
In an instant, the bodyguards rushed forward together, fists landing heavily with dull thuds.
“My God!” The old man from the Su family had only just been discharged from the hospital, and now he was once again beaten until he rolled helplessly across the floor, a picture of utter disgrace, his face filled with profound regret.
Su Yixue’s face was struck again and again, each slap sharp and resounding, leaving her utterly powerless to resist.
“Stop hitting me! Help! Somebody help!” Su Yicai was beaten like a human punching bag, shrieking at the top of his lungs, his cries no different from a pig being slaughtered.
As for Su Zhengjun, he closed his eyes in despair and allowed the fists and kicks to rain down on him.
For a time, the scene was in complete chaos.
Standing at the back, the old matriarch watched the miserable state of the entire Su family. The resentment she had felt before Ye Tianlin earlier was instantly relieved, and she said with a cold smile, “Keep going!”
“That’s right, beat them hard!” Jiang Yingxia was equally delighted. Coming here in person today had been for nothing other than to vent, and of course she would not allow it to end so casually.
About ten minutes later, just as it seemed they were moments away from beating someone to death, the old matriarch finally raised her hand and called for them to stop, signaling the bodyguards to withdraw.
“With a family like yours, you still dare dream of soaring to the top? Ridiculous. From now on, you’d best learn how to behave, or next time it won’t be as simple as a beating!” the old matriarch said sternly.
“Yes, yes, of course. We wouldn’t dare again.” The old man of the Su family lay collapsed on the ground like a drowned dog, barely clinging to life, tears and snot streaming down his face.
“Many thanks for the matriarch’s mercy. This time it was all because our Su family was blind to what was right before our eyes,” Su Yicai said through gritted teeth, his pain twisting his features. His heart had completely caved in, and he no longer had the courage to face Ye Tianlin again.
Very soon, the old matriarch and Jiang Yingxia left the Su family villa satisfied.
Su Yixue was the first to get up. Covering her burning, swollen cheek, she sobbed miserably. “So from the very beginning, I was the one who got it wrong. I have no face left to show myself to anyone.”
“It’s already a blessing from misfortune that we escaped with our lives. Stop indulging in fantasies. None of this was ever yours to begin with. And the old matriarch’s personal visit this time was surely because she had already learned of the Su family’s problems, which is why she deliberately did this!” Su Zhengjun staggered to his feet, unable to help sighing again and again.
As he spoke, Su Zhengjun hurriedly reached out and helped the old man up.
“If I had known the truth was like this, I never should have treated Ye Tianlin that way. Now it’s truly ruined. I’ve completely soured the relationship!” The old man’s face was a mess. He was so regretful that his intestines felt green with remorse, and then he turned and glared at Su Yicai.
Su Yicai felt a chill creep up his spine under that stare. Enduring the pain all over his body, he clenched his teeth and said, “You can’t pin this on me. Didn’t you all say my deduction made perfect sense before?”
“If not you, then who? Our Su family’s chance to rise has been ruined by you. You wretch, I was blind to trust you!” The old man flew into a rage and kicked out, landing a brutal blow squarely on Su Yicai’s face.
Caught completely off guard, Su Yicai was kicked unconscious on the spot.
The old man, still fuming, wanted to land a few more kicks, but Su Zhengjun hurriedly stopped him.
Su Zhengjun said, “What’s done is done. Right now we should be thinking of a way to salvage what we can.”
“How can there still be any salvaging?” The old man shook his head.
“It’s simple. Go and apologize to Ye Tianlin and Su Rulan in person. Perhaps there’s still a slim chance. But if we do nothing, then we’ll have nothing left at all,” Su Zhengjun advised.
At that, the old man’s face immediately turned ashen. Just earlier in the hospital he had been sneering and mocking them to no end, and now, in the blink of an eye, he was supposed to rush over and apologize? That was far too humiliating.
“No. If we go now to apologize, they’ll definitely make things difficult for us,” Su Yixue said, clenching her hands. She simply could not set aside her pride and bow her head to Su Rulan personally.
“Indeed. Ye Tianlin is surely still seething. Going there now would be no different from walking to our deaths. Even if we are to apologize, it should wait until tomorrow. We can find a suitable excuse then,” the old man said awkwardly.
Su Zhengjun suggested, “Why not use the excuse of the eightieth birthday celebration? Tomorrow, Old Master, you can personally go and deliver an invitation. That’s actually a fairly good reason. At the very least, Su Weimin and Gao Yulan must be made to understand the truth of what happened.”
“You want me to deliver an invitation?” The old man sounded miserable.
