Chapter 129: The Brute Force of a Brick
Gu Weiyu’s eyes sparkled. What had just happened was no hallucination: a large brick had indeed appeared out of thin air! Seeing Chu Xingyun in such a disheveled state, Gu Weiyu felt a secret thrill. Whoever was hiding in the shadows was doing exactly what she wanted!
Chu Xingyun slumped to the ground, gently touching his left cheek, which was swollen high. A wave of intense throbbing radiated from it. He couldn't help but gasp, "Damn it, who is skulking about in hiding?"
Gu Weiyu chuckled, mocking him, "Aside from me, who else could be here? It must be that you’ve done so much evil in your life that even the Heavens can’t stand to watch anymore!"
Chu Xingyun let out a cold snort, grabbed his sword, and stood up. Without a word, he lunged at Gu Weiyu. She gripped her Thunder-Hidden Sword and met him head-on.
"Rip—" A faint sound of fabric tearing echoed, and a sharp pain flared in Gu Weiyu's waist as Chu Xingyun’s flying sword grazed her.
"Hmph, let's see who will save you this time—Ah! Who is attacking me?"
Just as Chu Xingyun was about to deliver a fatal blow to Gu Weiyu’s neck, the large brick reappeared, slamming heavily into his right cheek.
Gu Weiyu’s eyes gleamed as a flash of crimson silhouette crossed her mind. She felt a surge of strength, and even the wound at her waist ceased to hurt.
"If you have the guts, show yourself! What kind of cowardly, sneaky behavior is this?" Chu Xingyun, his face now swollen like a pig’s head, contorted in rage, looking like a clown dancing at the bottom of the abyss.
Gu Weiyu was ecstatic, yet her tongue remained sharp: "Chu, I told you the Heavens are watching, but you wouldn't believe me? Look, I’m standing right here, and you can’t even touch a hair on my head!"
Chu Xingyun’s chest heaved with fury; his elegant demeanor was long gone. "You brat, I refuse to believe this!" He raised his sword and swung it at her head. Gu Weiyu ducked low, avoiding the strike, and backhanded a thrust toward him.
"Didn't you say you'd stand still?" Chu Xingyun, caught off guard, was stabbed in the arm. He widened his eyes and roared.
"Do I need to keep my word when talking to scum like you?" Gu Weiyu poked her tongue out playfully, infuriating him to the point of madness.
"You—" Chu Xingyun was so enraged that steam seemed to rise from his seven orifices, the veins on his sword-wielding hand bulging. With that ghostly assailant lurking nearby, he felt on the verge of a total breakdown.
Chu Xingyun stopped wasting words. He refused to believe that he, a dignified Core Formation cultivator, could not deal with a mere Foundation Establishment brat!
As they fought, whenever Gu Weiyu fell into a disadvantage or was about to be struck, that large brick would accurately slam into Chu Xingyun. The sight of him being sent flying by the brick was magnificent. Gu Weiyu grew braver with every clash, while Chu Xingyun was left howling in pain.
"Yili, return."
An elegant voice suddenly rang out behind Gu Weiyu. Hearing the familiar tone, her heart skipped a beat. She whirled around and saw a figure in crimson robes. A young man stood nearby, looking relaxed. His long eyebrows slanted toward his temples, his dark hair cascaded over his shoulders, and a white jade hairpin was tucked into his locks.
Gu Weiyu was dazed. A memory of when she first saw her Great-Grandfather surfaced. After all these years, he hadn't changed at all—still as dashing as ever!
The golden, ferocious brick became docile, flying back to Gu Qingzhou’s side with a swish. Gu Qingzhou looked at her with a faint, mocking smile in his phoenix eyes. "Little one, why are you silent now that you’ve seen your ancestor?"
"Great-Grandfather—"
It really was him. Her joy overflowed, but it was quickly replaced by a wave of grievances. Her eyes welled up, and her vision blurred.
"You silly girl, why are you crying like a kitten?" Gu Qingzhou looked at her with doting eyes. He walked over and gently wiped the tears from her cheeks.
"Great-Grandfather—Waaah—" Gu Weiyu buried herself in his embrace, her tears flowing uncontrollably. The faint scent of locust blossoms surrounded her, bringing a sense of peace she had never felt before.
"Silly girl..." Gu Qingzhou patted her shoulder gently. "Don't cry anymore—"
After letting it all out, Gu Weiyu felt much better. Realizing she was no longer a child, she shyly wiped her eyes. Suddenly, she caught a glimpse of a white figure approaching silently, a cold light flashing toward them. "Great-Grandfather, look out!"
Gu Qingzhou seemed to have anticipated it. He curled his lips and said lazily, "Yili!"
The brick, Yili, which had been hovering by his side, swished forward and slammed into the arm of the ambushing Chu Xingyun. With a *clatter*, Chu Xingyun’s sword fell to the ground.
He stared at his arm in disbelief. "No, this is impossible—"
Chu Xingyun had always been proud. Previously, he had been unprepared, but just now, he had used his full strength, yet his sword had been knocked away so easily by that magical tool. A terrifying possibility dawned on him. His eyes widened, and he pointed a trembling finger at Gu Qingzhou. "You... you..."
Gu Qingzhou wore a meaningful smile. "You guessed right."
Chu Xingyun suddenly clutched his head, shaking it incessantly, muttering like a man in a dream. One moment he laughed wildly toward the sky, the next he sobbed in a low voice, appearing completely deranged.
"He has suffered a qi deviation," Gu Qingzhou said indifferently.
Gu Weiyu watched in bewilderment. Just like that?
"He was already severely injured, and his wounds never healed, leaving his spiritual power in a constant state of dissipation. Today, after repeated fighting, his internal energy has spiraled into chaos, pushing him to the brink of collapse. Combined with a fragile mind—arrogant yet selfish—he cannot handle the slightest provocation. That is why he has fallen to this state!"
Gu Qingzhou’s voice was clear as jade, echoing through the abyss like a spring that could cleanse the soul.
Looking at Chu Xingyun, Gu Weiyu felt no sympathy. The pitiable always have something hateful about them. He didn't deserve her pity—who would pity her innocent, slaughtered clansmen? If her Tenth Aunt could see this from the afterlife, she would surely be comforted.
"Great-Grandfather, he is nothing but scum!" Gu Weiyu’s expression was filled with disdain.
Gu Qingzhou glanced coldly at Chu Xingyun, who was slumped on the ground. "A-Yu, tell me, what should we do with him?"
Gu Weiyu was silent for a moment before saying, "Kill him, to avenge Tenth Aunt and the others!"
"Very well, you do it." Gu Qingzhou did not object. He flicked his long sleeves and turned to sit on a nearby boulder.
Gu Weiyu: "..."
