Chapter 149: Arrival at Yun County

Gu Weilan and Xu Weizhou were both amused by Chu Liuxing’s narcissistic remarks, their hearts lightened. Even Gu Weiyu felt her mood brighten thanks to his playful banter. She cast aside her worries, resolved to face whatever came their way, knowing that overthinking would do no good.
“Yes, Brother Chu is truly handsome today, but my great-grandfather is the most handsome in all the Four Seas and Eight Desolations!” Gu Weiyu said with a smile.
Chu Liuxing blinked, flashing a charming look. “Yu, can you please drop the ‘great-grandfather’ part?”
Gu Weiyu shook her head firmly. “No way!”
Her great-grandfather was so dashing; how could she omit that?
Gu Weilan and Xu Weizhou were taciturn, letting Gu Weiyu take the lead in lively conversation, occasionally chiming in themselves.
The Qing Tuan sped forward swiftly, like an arrow flying south.
The Hehuan Sect was located in Yun Commandery, further south of Anlin Commandery. Because it was close to the sect, Yun Commandery was more prosperous and bustling than other northern commanderies.
Yet, the place was a melting pot of all sorts—people of all classes, some areas quite chaotic.
“We’ve arrived! Yun Commandery is just ahead!” Gu Weiyu stood atop Qing Tuan, gazing through the clouds below.
Rows of wooden and stone buildings stretched beneath the green mountains and white clouds. Shrouded in mist, the city resembled a lotus emerging from water, a delicate young maiden radiating pure beauty.
Curious, Chu Liuxing leaned over to look, while Gu Weilan and Xu Weizhou remained serene and composed, still seated cross-legged in meditation.
“Qing Tuan, let’s descend!”
Qing Tuan landed steadily in a small valley outside the city.
“Fourth Sister, Senior Brother Xu, shall we go?” Gu Weiyu called to the two with eyes half-closed.
Gu Weilan opened her eyes and rose with Xu Weizhou. “Let’s go.”
Gu Weiyu retracted Qing Tuan, and the four of them rode their swords, soon arriving outside the city gates.
It was near dusk; few were entering the city, but many were leaving.
Only after Gu Weiyu’s successful Foundation Establishment did she realize that cultivators of that realm no longer had to queue like mortals or Qi Refinement practitioners—they could enter through side gates directly.
Bypassing the few waiting in line, the four slipped in through a side entrance.
The guards at the gate, upon seeing them, instantly wore obsequious smiles and shrank their stature.
Gu Weiyu noticed the shift in attitude around her, her expression subtly nuanced.

Perhaps this was why so many mortals craved fame and fortune—holding high status granted the luxury of others’ flattery.
Gu Weiyu glanced lightly at Chu Liuxing, who was shaking his folding fan with a carefree gentleman’s air.
She teased, “Brother Chu, I should have brought Liu Huo along to attend to you—serving tea and running errands.”
“Exactly!” Chu Liuxing snapped his fan shut, playing the part gravely.
Gu Weilan cast a cold glance at Chu Liuxing but said nothing, continuing forward.
Chu Liuxing felt the gaze like a blade piercing him and promptly shut his mouth tight.
He swallowed nervously and shrank behind Gu Weiyu.
“Yu, Fourth Sister is terrifying! Did she think I was too noisy just now?!”
Gu Weiyu burst out laughing at his timid demeanor. “Look at you! Fourth Sister is really nice!”
Chu Liuxing: “...Why do I not see it that way?”
Though Yun Commandery was more flourishing than Qin Commandery, cultivators at Foundation Establishment stage were still rare.
Suddenly, three outside Foundation Establishment cultivators appeared, two of whom were elite disciples from the Ten Thousand Sword Sect—one of the five great sects.
Their mere presence drew the attention of Hehuan Sect’s stationed disciples.
Gu Weiyu and company felt the stares as they walked; many low-level cultivators kept their distance.
They were thinking of finding a place to rest when a fragrant breeze wafted by.
“Hey there, little brother...!”
Gu Weiyu turned to see a bewitching young woman in pink approaching, twisting her body to lean toward Xu Weizhou.
Xu Weizhou frowned slightly and subtly stepped away.
The woman nearly twisted her ankle and fell.
“Oh dear, sister loves this type—little brother, what’s your name...”
Unbothered by his avoidance, she showed a fascinated look, eager to cling further.
Xu Weizhou twitched his mouth, drawing his long sword with a clatter.
“Miss, please respect yourself. Otherwise, my sword has no mercy.”
“Oh my, little brother has quite the temper!” The pink-clad woman laughed, covering her mouth with a handkerchief, her smile enchanting.
“Enough, Hongshang, come back,” a cold voice called from nearby—it was a girl in green.
Her frosty gaze shot a glare at the pink woman. It was because of reckless disciples like Hongshang that the world held prejudices against Hehuan Sect.
Hongshang seemed intimidated, immediately restraining herself and standing awkwardly aside.
Gu Weiyu looked at the green-clad girl, whose delicate features radiated a chilly grace.

At first glance unremarkable, the more one looked, the more one sensed her unique charm.
The girl in green stepped forward. “I am Lv Yi of Hehuan Sect. It is our honor to welcome fellow cultivators to Yun Commandery.”
Gu Weiyu smiled brightly and approached. “May I call you Sister Lv Yi?”
Lv Yi’s eyes rested on Gu Weiyu, her expression softening. “Of course.”
They walked and chatted, heading toward Hehuan Sect’s Yun Commandery residence.
Hongshang occasionally cast flirtatious glances at Xu Weizhou and Chu Liuxing.
Xu Weizhou was as stiff as a wooden post, but Chu Liuxing waved his folding fan playfully.
“Miss, are your eyes bothering you?”
Hongshang, thinking she had captured Chu Liuxing’s interest, leaned in coquettishly.
“Yes, little brother, won’t you help me?”
“Are you ill? I’m no doctor!” Chu Liuxing snapped his fan shut, a mischievous smile on his face.
Hongshang stumbled, her face turning pale and greenish, nearly exploding on the spot.
“You—”
“Enough!” Lv Yi’s clear voice cut through sharply, casting a cold glance at Hongshang.
Pouting, Hongshang shot Chu Liuxing a resentful glare but reluctantly fell silent.
Gu Weiyu followed Lv Yi into Hehuan Sect’s guest hall.
Lv Yi instructed the attendants, “Bring tea quickly!”
The servants obeyed promptly, returning shortly with cups of tea and spiritual fruits.
“May I ask what brings you four to Yun Commandery?” Lv Yi inquired after they sipped the tea.
“Sister Lv Yi, we heard that your sect’s Thousand Mechanism Daoist has a disciple surnamed Gu...” Gu Weiyu was about to explain their purpose when a voice suddenly interrupted.
“What? You want to see that fox temptress?”
