Chapter 98: The Treasure Sprout (Extra Chapter)
Gu Weiyu stepped closer to the Dragon Scale Fruit tree. The crimson golden ringed snake raised its head high, its green bean-sized eyes coldly fixed on her direction.
“Little snake, I’m here to pick some fruit, okay?” Before her words had even fallen, her hand deftly reached for the nearest Dragon Scale Fruit.
“Hissss—” The crimson golden ringed snake leapt up, attacking the outstretched hand.
A smirk curled on Gu Weiyu’s lips. So, you want to challenge me, huh?
As the snake lunged, Gu Weiyu swiftly withdrew her hand, drew out her wooden sword, and flicked it toward the snake.
The wooden sword struck the snake’s midsection. Taking advantage, she swung hard, sending the great serpent flying onto a giant tree atop the cliff.
Previously, when the serpent was on the Dragon Scale Fruit tree, she held back, fearing to cause unnecessary harm. But now, that hesitation was gone!
“Little snake, come on, let’s play a bit!” Gu Weiyu looked toward the massive tree, her wooden sword pointing at the crimson golden ringed snake.
The snake was successfully provoked. Its green bean eyes blazed with fury as it opened its mouth, spraying a stream of deep green liquid in her direction.
A pungent stench of fishiness assaulted Gu Weiyu’s nose. She immediately raised her wooden shield. The liquid struck the shield, sizzling upon contact.
Clearly, the dark green liquid was extremely poisonous and highly corrosive!
Gu Weiyu swiftly formed hand seals, launching an attack at the snake perched in the giant tree.
Twin Thunderclaps—
Fire Dragon Dance—
The thunder and fire dragons encircled the crimson golden ringed snake, trapping it. Seizing the moment, Gu Weiyu leapt up and struck the thick serpent’s body again with her wooden sword.
The snake was knocked flying, hanging like a golden ribbon from the bushes below the cliff.
While the snake was dazed, her hands deftly swept over the Dragon Scale Fruit tree, gathering more than ten fruits into her storage ring.
Of course, she hadn’t been lying to the snake earlier—she left behind three Dragon Scale Fruits.
“Little snake, I saved you three!” Gu Weiyu said cheerfully, pointing at the tree.
The crimson golden ringed snake hissed, darting swiftly through the forest and back to the cliff top.
Its elongated mouth suddenly opened wide, spewing a ghostly blue flame.
The flame resembled a blooming flower, appearing slow but striking like lightning, reaching Gu Weiyu instantly.
“Damn humans, the Dragon Scale Fruits are all mine!” it seemed to say.
The eerie blue flame looked formidable. Just as Gu Weiyu was about to dodge, a sudden voice echoed in her mind—Xiaoya said, “Wait!”
Before the words finished, Xiaoya eagerly emerged from Gu Weiyu’s dantian. Her tiny sprout leaf expanded rapidly, enveloping the ghostly blue flame.
“Ah, so delicious~” Xiaoya murmured softly, then retreated back into the dantian.
Gu Weiyu was speechless.
The crimson golden ringed snake was stunned, then hissed angrily again.
Knowing the snake was displeased, Gu Weiyu activated the Heavenly Thunder Flash beneath her feet and swiftly fled down the cliff.
The snake glanced at Gu Weiyu’s retreating figure, then at the remaining three Dragon Scale Fruits. Resentfully, it crawled back onto the fruit tree trunk and swallowed one fruit in a single bite.
If only it had eaten one every day, it wouldn’t have lost so much to humans!
Having unexpectedly acquired Dragon Scale Fruits, Gu Weiyu’s spirits soared. She lost all desire to seek other spiritual herbs and materials.
Now, she was eager to leave the Void Secret Realm quickly and return to the Ten Thousand Sword Sect’s Emerald Bamboo Garden to refine the Dragon Scale Pill.
Xiaoya floated beside Gu Weiyu, “Ah Yu, is that thing still around?”
Gu Weiyu glanced at Xiaoya’s intact leaf, which seemed to have grown bigger, and shook her head, “Gone.”
Xiaoya looked a little disappointed, drifting listlessly. That thing tasted really good; she couldn’t stop thinking about it.
“Ah Yu, wait!” Suddenly, Xiaoya froze, her sprout leaf rhythmically trembling.
Curious, Gu Weiyu remembered the last time Xiaoya stopped her, it had bravely swallowed the snake’s fire. This time…
“Here!” After a long moment, Xiaoya’s sprout finally stopped, pointing toward a small hillside on the right.
With the Dragon Scale Fruits secured, Gu Weiyu had no particular goal and followed Xiaoya’s direction toward the hillside.
“This is it!” Xiaoya stopped on the shaded side of the hill, pointing to a spot halfway up.
“Huh?” Gu Weiyu looked at Xiaoya, slightly puzzled.
“Ah Yu, start digging!” Xiaoya urged as Gu Weiyu hesitated.
Gu Weiyu glanced around, set up her Four Symbols Constraining Array, then resignedly took out a shovel to begin the labor.
She dug at the spot Xiaoya indicated, but all she unearthed was common sand and stone. The digging went on for quite some time.
“How much longer, Xiaoya?” Her hands were sore and weak from digging.
“Almost there!” Xiaoya floated down to the bottom of the pit. “Just below here.”
Gu Weiyu sighed and continued digging.
“Clang—” The shovel struck something hard. Her heart leapt with joy—finally, something different.
She crouched down and looked. In the dim pit, a stone emitted a faint silver glow.
“It's mythril ore!” Her spirit book excitedly said, “There’s a small mythril vein here!”
“Mythril vein?” Gu Weiyu’s eyes brightened. Mythril was a rare ore.
It was said to be a primary material for forging flying-type spiritual weapons, undoubtedly valuable!
Unexpectedly, Xiaoya, the big eater, had discovered a mythril spirit ore vein.
This vein was deeply buried underground, yet Xiaoya could detect it. Gu Weiyu marveled:
Xiaoya was truly a moving treasure! Not only did she have a powerful appetite, but her sensitivity to spiritual objects was extraordinary.
“This stone tastes really good,” Xiaoya said, enchanted as she rested on a piece of mythril ore.
“Master, hurry and dig!” The spirit book urged as Gu Weiyu hesitated.
Time was pressing—they could only stay for two hours!
Snapping back to reality, Gu Weiyu asked, “Xiaoya, which stone tastes the best? I’ll dig it out for you right away!”
“The stones below taste even better—” Xiaoya’s sprout leaf eagerly stretched downwards.
Gu Weiyu nodded and began digging energetically.
This was mythril ore! Just thinking about it filled her with motivation.
Unfortunately, by the time they found the mythril, nearly two hours had passed.
Fifteen minutes later, Gu Weiyu barely had time to pack up the ore and dismantle the Four Symbols Constraining Array before darkness enveloped her once again...
