Chapter 109: Fierce Battle with the Snow Wolf
“Everyone, get ready to kill! Remember, when you take down those snow wolves, do not forget their magic cores. They will be Mo You’s rations from now on.” Ye Zihan charged out, yet still remembered to call out to Chen Yiyan and the others. After all, these magic cores were extremely valuable.
“Haha, I never expected Brother Ye Zihan to care so much about Mo You. Excellent. We’ll collect the magic cores from these snow wolves and save them as Mo You’s food.” Chen Yiyan laughed happily after speaking. Ye Zihan was truly considerate, remembering Mo You’s rations even at a time like this.
Yan Chen swept forward on his flying sword. He had never taken the snow wolves seriously, but now he was paying close attention to their magic cores. Since the cores were Mo You’s food, they had no choice but to value them.
“Awooo!”
The howls of the snow wolves drew closer and closer, as did the earth-shaking rumble of their charge. The wolves did not necessarily need to be of a high rank; as long as their offensive strength reached a certain level, that was enough.
By now, Ye Zihan and the wolf pack were only a hundred meters apart. Although Ye Zihan and the others were far higher in cultivation than the snow wolves, the wolves could still seize victory once they made use of their advantage in numbers.
“Kill!”
Gazing at the charging wolves, Chen Yiyan roared and spread his four wings before plunging into the battle like a storm. Their group had no choice but to fight with everything they had, for this battle between them and the snow wolves could only end with one side dead.
If Ye Zihan and the others failed to exterminate the wolves on the snowy ground, they might well be worn down to death. There were simply too many of them. This was no longer a matter of killing, but of attrition, because numbers were the snow wolves’ greatest advantage.
With a sharp sound, Chen Yiyan’s enormous battle axe swept through the air, felling a mass of snow wolves. Most of them ended up either dead or grievously wounded.
“You humans, stop resisting and surrender at once. Otherwise, we will show you no mercy.”
At that moment, the voice of the Wolf King came from behind the pack. He was now employing both threats and persuasion. Having discovered that Ye Zihan and his companions were formidable, he had no choice but to seek another way to win while reducing his losses.
“Damn you! Do you take us for fools? Go to hell! I’ll come and see what you’re made of right now.”
Chen Yiyan roared and charged toward the Wolf King’s voice. He wished nothing more than to butcher the beast, because the battle between his group and the snow wolves had already become one of mutual annihilation.
“Young man, you truly overestimate yourselves. If you really manage to reach me, I imagine our pack will already have captured you by then. Hahaha!”
The Wolf King did not regard Ye Zihan and the others highly. He was a sixth-tier magical beast, after all, and his strength was extraordinary. He was certainly not much weaker than Ye Zihan or Chen Yiyan.
“Hmph! Then I’ll start by slaughtering your descendants. I refuse to believe you won’t feel any pain when these little mongrels die.”
Chen Yiyan no longer wished to trade words with him. He raised his enormous battle axe and began a one-sided massacre of the snow wolves.
With every sweep, wolf heads were sent flying into the sky before crashing back onto the ground. Even this once-pure white world of ice and snow had now become a blood-red realm. Waves of bloody stench spread through the air, making the frozen landscape seem even colder and more sinister.
Ye Zihan gazed at the river of blood before him. Even the blue sky overhead had been dyed crimson by the blood staining the snow below. It was a terrifying sight.
“Very well. You truly are powerful cultivators. How about this? If you surrender to us, we can guarantee you a chance to live. What do you say?”
Seeing the strength of Chen Yiyan and the others, the Wolf King realized that capturing them would require sacrificing countless snow wolves.
“Damn it, why would we surrender to beasts like you? Let me tell you the truth: the more snow wolves you send, the greater our harvest will be. Haven’t you noticed that we’re collecting the magic cores from your pack?”
Chen Yiyan sneered. The Wolf King was truly an idiot, failing to realize that they had already begun digging the magic cores out of the wolves they killed.
“You shameless creatures! But you have enraged me now. From this moment on, it is a fight to the death!”
Only then did the Wolf King notice that every time Ye Zihan and the others killed a snow wolf, they immediately dug out its magic core and stuffed it into their own pockets. The group was killing with great enthusiasm, and they laughed especially happily whenever they extracted a core. The Wolf King was gnashing his teeth in rage, yet there was nothing he could do about them.
“We’re shameless? Who are you calling shameless? Aren’t you shameless yourselves?”
Chen Yiyan continued his murderous advance. To him and the others, the Wolf King was nothing special. He was hiding behind the pack and issuing orders. If he were truly brave, he would have come out long ago to fight them himself.
“Of course you are shameless! Who else would I be talking about? You are doomed today. We will never let you go. Even if you want to withdraw from the battle now, we will still pursue you to the death.”
The Wolf King hated Chen Yiyan and the others bitterly, but for now he could only wear down their strength through attrition. He intended to wait until the decisive moment before emerging to kill Ye Zihan and his companions.
“Brother Chen Yiyan, stop wasting your breath on them. They’re only trying to distract you so that you’ll lower your guard and they can kill you. Don’t fall for the enemy’s scheme.”
After speaking, Ye Zihan continued fighting the snow wolves. He had already killed countless of them, but they were ordinary magical beasts, so they posed little threat to him and the others.
“Understood. I’ll ignore them.”
Chen Yiyan resumed his even more brutal slaughter. He had no other choice, because the enemy would never allow them to escape alive.
“Big Brother Ye Zihan, I want to eat magic cores.”
At that moment, Mo You poked his tiny dragon head out. To Mo You, Ye Zihan was now his big brother—and his only family.
Ye Zihan glanced at Mo You in his arms, then smiled. “Haha, then eat your fill. I’m sure you’ll enjoy yourself.”
As he fought the snow wolves, Ye Zihan dug out their magic cores and tossed them to Mo You. They were, after all, Mo You’s rations.
Mo You swiftly caught the snow wolf cores Ye Zihan handed him and began eating them happily.
“Mmm, the cores of these creatures are delicious!”
After eating several cores, Mo You cried out in delight. He felt that these cores were far purer, without the slightest trace of contamination. This was truly natural food.
Ye Zihan continued killing snow wolves and handing their freshly extracted magic cores to Mo You. He smiled and said, “Since you like them so much, then we’ll kill a few more. If we finish off all these snow wolves, there should be enough to keep you fed for a year or two.”
Ye Zihan had already slain countless wolves. Even Mo You, a voracious eater, could not keep up with his speed. Half of the cores Ye Zihan obtained were therefore stored away, while the other half became Mo You’s food.
“Big Brother Ye Zihan, I want to go out and kill these snow wolves myself. I’ve grown quite a bit now, and it seems my strength has risen to the sixth tier.”
Mo You suddenly cried out excitedly. His strength had reached the sixth tier, corresponding to the appropriate cultivation realm. Magical beasts, however, were classified by tiers, which was the difference between them and human cultivators.
Ye Zihan gazed at the endless sea of snow wolves before him and nodded firmly. “All right. There are more wolves here than we can ever finish killing. Go ahead and hunt them. From now on, they are your food.”
Ye Zihan had decided to let Mo You out to fight. The four of them truly could not manage everything on their own.
“Awooo!”
Hearing this, Mo You immediately let out an excited dragon cry. To him, nothing was more enticing than a good fight.
“Since Big Brother Ye Zihan has agreed to let me join the battle, then all right. I’ll go teach these little mongrels a lesson.”
Mo You quickly flew out of Ye Zihan’s arms and charged toward the snow wolf pack, covering the sky as he descended upon them.
“Haha, you’re in such a hurry that you haven’t even changed your form yet.”
Ye Zihan watched Mo You fly off and smiled. In his current state, Mo You was indeed rather adorable.
With a thunderous boom, the palm-sized Mo You had just reached the tops of the snow wolves when he released his energy and restored his true form. His body had now grown to a length of twenty feet, far longer than before.
“Wow, these are truly fresh snow wolf magic cores!”
After speaking, Mo You picked up the cores of the snow wolves he had crushed to death in the icy wilderness and began eating them. The sight was so terrifying that it was beyond the imagination of any ordinary person.
“You are a Thousand Nether Blood Illusion Dragon? How could there be one here? Could it be a magical beast companion carried by these youths?”
At this tense moment, the Wolf King muttered in shock. Only now did he realize that Ye Zihan and his companions were far from ordinary. The appearance of a Thousand Nether Blood Illusion Dragon was proof that they belonged to no ordinary power.
“Damn right, this dragon is the genuine article. And the cores of your descendants are truly excellent. Why don’t you come and try one yourself?”
After speaking, Mo You flung aside the snow wolves he had killed, dug out their magic cores, and swallowed them. That was all he cared about at present.
“It really is a Thousand Nether Blood Illusion Dragon. It seems we miscalculated this time.”
The Wolf King could only sigh. With such a creature before him, there was no chance of achieving anything.
Mo You smiled. “Are you mocking us? I am indeed a genuine Thousand Nether Blood Illusion Dragon, and I happen to love the magic cores of your descendants. Thank you for delivering such a fine gift straight to my door.”
After speaking, Mo You began wolfing down the snow wolf magic cores. He truly adored them.
